Hey Guys,
could anyone tell me the release date in Germany / Europe?
I have to apologize, not reading al 21 sites of this thread ;)

The last thing I read here was a release in June.  No specific date as of yet.

Good news on a program, my only advice to EVGA is just keep in mind how many hours of troubleshooting and downtime current X79 boards have cost customers.

Then they should also take into account how many hours of troubleshooting and downtime were caused by user error, unstable overclocks, attempted running of unsupported add-in RAID controllers & PCIe SSD cards, and users RMA'ing perfectly good boards.

Why does EVGA not have a (Edited out for language) smiley. You are ungodly annoying and need to leave. Not everything is the customers fault. The board is worthless if it can't even match something like the RIVE for the same price.

I am always in favor of keeping things polite!
Attacking and name calling is not my speed and never well be. You're ( as in the mods) right about the strong emotions here, there are a lot of bad feelings around, as well as others who think those with problems are being made up... There are those here that have accused me of user error and such. My problems were well documents and verified to be real by EVGA so that renders what anybody who does not believe me, totally unimportant.

I have always wished those well who have working MBs, and had everything work out for them well and I could not be happier for them. I was not so lucky, and to be honest no matter how long it took, for me as an individual, just helping me in the end is a big deal. Those that bought a lot of boards for businesses to make a living were really hurt if you read some of the sincere postings.

Having looked and read what little there is on the Dark, it looks good and there are a number of hardware improvements that should solve a lot of problems. Jacob says the Bios was done from the ground up and hopefully that will make a real difference. It is coming out later than first anticipated and want to believe that is a good thing for new builders as well as those who participate in whatever EVGA offers. Will everybody be happy, I THINK we know the answer to that. I come from the school that as long as something is done and its done as fair as possible that is a good thing.

We were promised over a year ago that, our problems would be solved...Then, it was admitted by Jacob that there were some hardware issues - okay.

The issue that incenses most of us, is that a solution has only been offered when there's a new product and it's going to cost us out of pocket.

What happened to the past year? What happened to those of us that have had multiple RMA's, paid for multiple RMA's only to end up with once again, a broken product? Where's our year back?

See most of you feel that the board "works" or runs "okay" but, the truth is that every one of these boards has hardware flaws, EVGA has admitted this to US however, no solution was put into place once this was done -- It was "Just RMA again".

"Just RMA again" didn't solve any issues, cost most of us serious time/money and now we're left with a motherboard that has never actually functioned as it was advertised.

Ultimately, IMHO -- This dark "step-up" situation is far too little, far too late...It also doesn't help me with the year I've lost...The investment...

It's sad because what once was, will never be, again.

Re:EVGA X79 Dark 2013/05/07 07:39:06 (permalink)
I do NOT disagree with you. I bought my mine in June, had 3 RMAs, and it has NEVER, EVER worked 100% and I had/have frustrations. This thread shows people 1000s of % worse issues than I had. I am merely aggravated, but there are people here that lost SERIOUS time AND money. For those people there will never be anything Evga will be able to do for them which is sad and very wrong. Their only solace, IF you want to call it that, is that EVGA did admit there was physical issues. That in itself most likely made them madder since they lost so much with NO help!

I do my best to take a best look approach, I can't get my time back OR get rid of the aggravations that I have and STILL have. I want to see what Evga does before I make a final judgment. I am worn down enough that whether fully happy or not I will deal with it.

I worked with 4-5 techs with this MB, spending who knows how long on the phone, tore it down 4-5 times to try things and change out MBs etc. You're right I won't get that back and even with the new Dark I will YET AGAIN have to rip my rig apart YET again. The scary part is that is NOTHING to compared to some people... I am hoping that their offer is a good one, but until then, its wait and see. Your right you can't get your time or effort and it will most likely cost us more money. I am at the point rightly OR wrongly, as long as I can get to 100% for minimal extra money with a HOPE of maybe none, I can deal... I don't have the money for a RIVE and to be honest as I stated before while it was fixed in the end, ASUS put me through an awful lot, a mixed bag if you read their forums...

I'd check the fine print.. chances are there's a 30-day return policy or something similar (depending where you purchased the motherboard from), which you agreed to when you made the purchase. If you chose not to return the motherboard in those first 30 days, then offering repeated RMA's would mean EVGA are keeping to their contractual obligations, so you wouldn't have a leg to stand on legally (IF those were the terms of purchase). That doesn't mean EVGA shouldn't do something for you, if for no other reason than to maintain arguably one of the highest levels of goodwill in the industry. Just saying... best to check that out before threatening class-action lawsuits etc..

You're not doing yourself any favors mate, for a variety of reasons. I suggest you talk to your 'awesome lawyer cousin' before you mouth off here any further - he should quite easily be able to point out how you've already shot yourself in the foot as far any any chance of a successful lawsuit goes, primarily because of what - and more importantly when - you have commented on this thread. If he is any good at all, his first advice would be to tell you to stop posting here.

Just an fyi, yes, I do have experience in this field in my employment.

If the UEFI is rebuilt from the ground up, how much can be back ported to the existing boards? I'm not an overclock, so if the temperature bug (which apparently followed me from my old Z77) and prevent the USB issues, I'll be fine with the board (assuming my RMA boots; I got a dud on my first board).

I figured not all, but I'm hoping that a rebuilt UEFI can keep me from having to switch to the Dark.  I guess we'll see either way.

My MB finally "broke" down  couple a days ago, need a new one, preferable the EVGA Dark due to my earliar experience with EVGA MB.
As I understand now Dark eta is at least 4 weeks away ? Thats  a long time . Can it be sooner?

No need to tell me that  "you" think there is better options out there for me. Due to my past experience on several levels I prefer EVGA over anything else.
Thats is how it going to be if its not to far away.
Any way in Norway  web stores  have a least 14 days return right without give any reason and get your money back.
Also RMA to the store gives normally you a choice between a new part(also from different brand) or money back. So little or no risk involved.

Just to be clear, my present MB is not EVGA, but a Asus Rampage III Extreme that have giving me nothing but troubble for nearly 3 years. I had none accept for it earliar, neither from ASUS or the store that sold it. But now when it got a easy noticeable fault the store gave me my money back. This is not the first Asus MB RMA for me, I had several.

I am hoping for some really cool features from the Dark.  Back in January EVGA was planning on releasing this motherboard in March.  They have delayed this board 3 months for what I am hoping is a fantastic MB right out the gate.

Will Dark be able to run the PCIE in 3.0 mode with todays CPU's, just by change settings in bios or will it need the "hack"?

When is the earliest/most likely eta of lga 2011 cpu that support pcie 3.0 without using tricks and hacks?

Also read in a Norwegian forum www.itpro.no that DDR4 is coming this summer and it will probably not support todays version of the 2011 socket, any comments?

Right now there are no CPUs that support DDR4 officially. There is a rumor floating around that Intel is developing a Haswell-E processor to support DDR4 but no solid info yet. Motherboards to support DDR4 can not be made unless the CPU specs exists to develop the motherboard and actual DDR4 memory is not yet produced.

For your other questions I don't have an answer yet but I'll see if I can find one for you.

Thx rjhnson11 for your answers, then DDR4 probably is so far away that no need to consider this now.
Since my present ASUS MB is broken maybe I should consider one of the x58 MB  from  EVGA eu B-stock list  while I wait out the Dark and eventually a CPU that can run pcie 3.0.

I do not think Haswell or DDR 4 will make a difference to people like me that have NEVER bought top end stuff.. I am a middle of the road kind of guy and I can live with that... At least, until, MAYBE my daughter is out of college... ALL my spare cash etc. goes to taking care of that and rather large medical bills for my wife...

Anyway here is an article on DDR4 and why NOT too worry about it...
I am ALSO glad they are waiting to release The Dark. They really can not afford to have another bad MB come out at this point and I really think they want to put the past behind them as much as possible...

Update Anandtech JUST listed in their humble opinions for the best X79 boards, it is QUITE evident what brand it missing...

I am glad that EVGA delayed the board until they feel it is ready....

chump7431

I am hoping for some really cool features from the Dark.  Back in January EVGA was planning on releasing this motherboard in March.  They have delayed this board 3 months for what I am hoping is a fantastic MB right out the gate.

+1...

Still will need the hack, this is an NVIDIA driver limitation, not board.

Thx Jacob for answer, I was lost in the belive it was an CPU/Intel missing of official support for 3.0.

I feel maybe my next question is a little dumb: Evga and other x79 MB makers have a remark similar to this about the pcie 3.0: "Pending/depending on pcie 3.0 suported CPU"
What am I missing/not understanding about this?

I suggest going to the Intel site and doing some reading on processor specs.

Thx for the hint Dustingg.
I knew that Intels spec sheet says support pcie 2.0 for i-7 2011 cpu.
So with 2011 Xeon cpu one can run pcie 3.0 on 2011 C606 Series MB(?), is xeon also working on x79 MB  to get pcie 3.0?
Cant se any Xeon cpu listed for EVGA x79 MB in CPU Compatibility List

Some use: "Pending" on cpu, when I used google translate "pending" was = "Wating":  In Norwegian, so I asumed one was waiting on a 2011 cpu to arrive that support pcie 3.0

Can we expect to be able to run pcie 3.0 with 2011 i-7 cpu on x79 MB without the "hack"? if so, when? Soon?

The Nvidia driver thats roadblock pcie running in 3.0, what is it  for?

Sandy bridge-E socket 2011 Processors are all Gen3 capable.

Which processor do you want to run?

The reason Nvidia have their driver locked at gen2 for X79 chipsets is because of the timing of gen3 release. The reg key mod is no big deal. you just have to apply the reg key after each driver update on your vidy card.

I want the prosessor thats best for gaming between 3820 and 3930K. Want to overclock it, but not an extreme oc.
I read several times that many think 3970X Extreme  is not worth the price difference regarding gaming????

One of the reasons I am intrested in the Dark is that it seems I can run my 2 680 classy's in x16 + x16 and my OCZ Revodrive 3 x2 in a pcie 4.
And have room for a third GPU in x8? If I am not badly mistaken?
