tonschk ...I don't understand why almost all (99%) the Nvidia video card manufacturers of this generation insist to add two DVI ports,...

Try using a real monitor with a resolution higher than the childish "1080p" and a higher refresh rate than 60hz connected via HDMI and you'll know why

HDMI only supports up to 60hz...... just saying. you show me a monitor using HDMI with a higher refresh rate then 60hz.

that is why I'm stuck with 1920x1080@ 120hz and 120fps in game until a monitor comes out that can support 120hz and a higher res than this.

try seeing if your rig can even sustain 120fps on a 120hz monitor @ 1920x1080...

That was Conin's point that you can't get higher resolution than 1920x1200 and 60Hz.  You need DP or DL DVI-D to do more than 60Hz and higher resolutions stable.  Sure HDMI 1.4 supports 4096×2160 but at 24Hz so forget it.

As for your other point go get a IPS and OC it.

"As for your other point go get a IPS and OC it. "

IPS doesn't have the response time and cannot even be overclocked close to 120hz. You might be able to get 70-75hz OC depeneding on the monitor.

There are several 120Hz IPS panes out there.

These are the only 120hz monitors I can find. Nothing shows under 120hz and IPS. not even when I google search for such thing.

there is no such thing as a 120hz IPS panel yet. Catleap doesn't count. That is an OC'd panel that doens't perform well or truly at 120hz.

Can I ask why if it doesn't perform well people are willing to pay $800 for them? It seems pointless if they look like crap. I know there are no true 120Hz out of the box IPS panels yet

those people are crazy. I see more people trying to off load those monitors then trying to find one to buy.

Any way enough of that. lets See some 32" plus size monitors with 120hz and higher resolutions

I intention to switch to evga x79dark but i do not want to spend another 400 euro for a problem due to the series x evga x79 ... i ask you technical support for customers .. exga x79 FTW classified or you can make a change of motherboard paying a difference rather than the full amount for the evga x79 dark? I speak on behalf of all possible ... I'm a professional photographer and not being able to use my printer on a USB 3.0 port because the two are occupied by 2.0 mouse and keyboard for me is a big uncomfortable .. I hope for a response from the a responsible .. confident in your response thank the entire staff for listening .. sorry for my poor english

I am off the wait list for Dark since there seem to be no real hint when its coming, close to a month since I played any game so I got another MB on the way.
Hope the Dark works well, then I consider one after the summer. If Dark work out well, are the chances there will be another x79 from Evga, then with more pcie lanes?

Jacob, is the x79 Dark going to come with that I/O shroud on release? I Think it's really hot looking. I haven't really seen that before and It's a nice way of cleaning up the appearance of the board. It would be a shame if it was just for showing the prototype. :(

We're getting close to June and sometime in June the board is set for release. As far as I am aware the motherboard still looks like the last picture of it that was posted...unless EVGA chooses to make some last minute changes.

For us that have current x79 boards and wish to "RMA" to a x79 dark.  Will that RMA program launch as soon as the x79 dark sees its release date?  Do we need to call in or will there be an online RMA section in our members account.

As my brand new x79 edit: Classified is going to return for refund tomorrow.  This thing refuses to even run 4 x 680's at x8, the fourth is always x4.  And forget about PCIe 3.0  USB "overload" with shipping bios popping errors everywhere.   No hard release date on the dark, no commitment from EVGA to step up customers to this new board -- IMHO, it should be a free replacement.  I should have read reviews and forums instead of going on my prior experiences with EVGA's flagship "Classified" boards and GPUs (x58 one I have for example) having every feature I could want and being the ultimate "you get what you pay for".  2 days into my x79 Classified ownership, I must say this product, including arriving with no cap on the socket even though sealed and from a reseller, seems to be the anti-thesis of "you get what you pay for".

As for 120hz IPS 1440 panels, there are people on the waitlist over at 120hz .net

Re:EVGA X79 Dark 2013/05/30 16:38:41 (permalink)

As my brand new x79 FTW is going to return for refund tomorrow.

They are working on a program for those that have boards that they want to replace. So you could get the refund or wait for the new board. I would do the refund and buy the new aboard if you do not go Asus by then. EVGA is taking it's sweet time because I think they have been getting so much flack that they are afraid of issues with the Dark.
