maskedmenace Viper97 Yes but the accusations say that EVGA wiped them... what happened was probably Newegg delisted the item and as a result the reviews etc. were lost. They relisted it and new reviews began. EVGA had nothing to do with it, it was a Newegg decision. You cannot place the blame on EVGA. That is at best preposterous and worst it is libel. I don't quite frankly know, whether to laugh or cry at these responses. It shows how LITTLE some of you know about the Vendor/Distributor relationships, particularly on the business side of this equation. Newegg has a HISTORY of wiping product reviews, particularly if they have an order in the amount of X or Y but, that's neither here nor there. Thermaltake anyone? HAHAHA, I can show 5/6 PSU's that had reviews COMPLETELY wiped so they could sell the items as black Friday sales...It's laughable. Bottom line is very very simple. Regardless of Newegg or EVGA requesting those reviews be wiped, they WERE wiped and regardless of revision the product STILL DOES NOT WORK. There's really not a whole lot to discuss because we all //KNOW// that those reviews were wiped. At the end of the day, as a consumer, you have rights. EVGA has violated those rights ethically and IMO, as a business... It is what it is. I think you work for ASUS and are making these allegations in order to discredit EVGA and turn clients to ASUS instead. You must have hacked Newegg and deleted those reviews yourself so you could pull off this nefarious scheme! Proof? Who needs proof when we all //KNOW// that those reviews were wiped by you. lmao

Hah! Yeah it is but sometimes folks need to vent. Me, I'm lucky I guess, I liked the FTW and I have a Classy and I'm stepping the FTW up to Dark. Probably the luck of the draw. Anyways... my board should be here in a week and a half since it went out last night. Looking forward to playing with it.

EVGA_RobB lowe0 It says the board is unregistered. My guess is something got messed up when I RMAd it. Hello, Please give our 24/7 Support line a call at 888-881-3842 so they can help you get sorted out. Thanks, Rob Called in; they added another request for me (couldn't just go directly to collecting payment and authorizing a shipment).

Just thought I would mention the actual reviews aren't gone from Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188117 The "Classified" was discontinued and now it is referred to only as "K3"... it still has "Classified" badging on the board and is most likely the same thing as the old one. I know this isn't the point some people are trying to make but there isn't really a way of knowing who "cleared" the reviews because it is technically a new product release. Anyway, the reviews are still out there and all I had to do to find them was search for "EVGA X79 Classified" because Newegg maintains discontinued product pages for a long time and the new version of the Classified doesn't even have "Classified" in the description to get in the way of the search. Oh and I have a K3 and so far it appears to be working okay so maybe there were some fixes (no idea).

so, I had the Classy and after building up my frustration from trying to get that piece of junk working.....I took it out and chucked it across the room! I bought it from EBay. so no RMA or a way to register it. man, I really do wish EVGA success on this board. I hope that this time they get it right! However, I am still going to sit this one out and wait to see what others have experienced. it's like video games: NEVER pre-order a video game because there's a chance that you may get burned: Gearbox anyone?! I don't want to get Gearboxed by EVGA if this board doesn't work. If it does work, then I will buy it only after the price falls, yeah?

As far as games go... I've been suckered but heck, I've enjoyed it too... must be the masochist in me! However, I think EVGA really got it right this time.

Don't know how EVGA does warranties for MOBOs but for GPUs you can register and retain its warranty if you buy it off of EBay. They just calculate the warranty start date from the day it left their warehouse instead of the time of when you purchased it.

What you do find is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188117 This is the wiped review. The original product actually had over 100 negative reviews before it was wiped back down to 0, I actually believe it was post 150 when I had last witnessed it and was apparently rapidly climbing. I didn't see it just before it's wipe but, over 200 would NOT be a surprise. Do I care who wiped it? I really don't because it's business casual but, it does matter because it's a shady attempt to sell more product which, is ethically substandard. Beyond that, 2 years of horrifically bad service is not negated by a new flashy motherboard. If the Dark had been what was launched in the first place, okay but, alas, it's not. I find it interesting that the vendors/high end techs, the ones that were really actually *expletive'd* by EVGA are the only ones standing up for the very people that are running out to buy these like Twinkies...Certainly has taught me a lesson. Enjoy your new motherboards, folks.

Just food for thought here... I find zero value in Newegg reviews because so many folks claim to be experts and simply have no idea what they are doing. They just like seeing their words in print... Heck, I am no expert, but I have figured out a few items in need of fixing. And maaaaany times I have been wrong as to the actual culprit. Yet if I voiced my disappointment right away, well. Bad reviews all over the place that I cannot remove once the real issue was found and solved. What I find of value is what is posted on forums and worked with/through. That seems to hold far more credibility with me than even the "Reviews" these paid review sites throw our way. And that is why I stayed with my Classy 3 until she finally passed away last week (RIP)... I cannot speak to the reviews that you say have been deleted. I am just offering a point of view as to what value they have for me personally.

I am just offering a point of view as to what value they have for me personally. I harbor no ill will towards you but, you've existed in this business long enough to understand the value of a review. Every single customer I have actually reads 100s of reviews before even asking me about a product regardless of if it's Cnet, Tom's, Amazon, Newegg or TD. The review in our business holds the stance of being "word of mouth". The fact that, that was wiped, on THAT product, a product that failed so badly, vendor support is dwindling; it's abhorrent. I realize some of you feel that I'm making too big of a deal about this but, I'm not. Vendors lost money, lots of money. Distributors wiped reviews in order to sell more product which, has all led to this. It's disgusting, it really is. Ultimately, the unfortunate event is we have no recourse but, to pay more for a working product...I'm just not doing that. I'm not doing that because it's an ethical violation, it's a moral violation, it's such BS, it's incredible. I haven't had working product for 2 years. 2 years...and on the eve of a new release, fixing that misdeed, I'm meant to pay $150 more PER board for a working motherboard? Are you serious? Four or five business owners/vendors in this very thread have already stopped giving EVGA our business because of this -- If thousands of dollars of business doesn't get a message through, nothing will. It's pathetic, it really is...but, I'm tired of defending people that won't defend themselves or stand up for their rights...So, last post on these forums, period. "May the odds be ever in your favor". I wish you all the very best. Those of you that need my assistance in any facet, have my email.

I hope you realize I am not countering your opinion or experience. It was just me offering a point of view. In fact I was in a way supporting what you are saying. Note my part of finding value in what the forums offer vs. reviews. You are offering your view and I encourage you to do so. I am not pushing it aside. For all I know I read some of your experiences along the way and it lend a hand to my unwillingness to try the X79 the last two years. In no way am I suggesting you should stop offering your view, however if one wants us to be open to yours, should you not be open to others? I am willing to give this x79 Dark a try. I remember "Many" folks bashing the Classified 3 as it released... Claiming it was no better than the 760 it replaced and folks would continue to have a lot of issues the 760 had. Well that was false. Most of us with the Classy 3 love it and hope they never die. Well mine did. So I am using the previous experience that I know... EVGA does learn from their mistakes. And I hope the x79 Dark is another one of those examples...

Just order my EVGA Dark. Had issues with my msi and titan its too big for mobo and hits the sata port at end of the board stopping total seating of video card. Hoping won't have same problem with the dark. On order at NCIX. Just have to wait till it comes in.
