I assume nobody has a fix for the insufferable flicker?

Correct. Only rockstar can fix it.

Single card runs perfectly the moment I restore the profile. I don't use HDR so that's off anyway. Even tried launching the game in safe mode and it also crashes when continuing the game in SLI. Tried Vsync on/off same with TAA. Really confused why it doesn't like something on my system in SLI mode as no other SLI game has issues even GTA 5, other games in SLI run very nicely without issues.

Only thing I haven't done is wipe and reinstall the game so may give that a go as that's pretty much my last resort.

Good luck. Hope it works. Only other thing I can think of is if your running any overclocks on CPU/GPU/RAM as some games don’t respond well to certain overclocks. For example I have some crashes in Overwatch when I run my GPUs at an overclock that most other games can handle. Another game didn’t respond well to my ram being at 4600mhz so had to bring it down to 4200. Are both of your GPUs the same? I’ve heard of people having issues when doing, for example, two 1080s but one was from Zotac and one from EVGA.

Unfortunately wiping the game fully and downloading it again didn't fix it, both 2080 Ti's are the reference models that I've left stock as they auto boost to 1.9ghz out of the box. RAM is 3000Mhz which is it's stock speed with XMP (small chance the game has an issue with my XMP profile even if it's the first game to do so), and my 9900k is at 5Ghz. I've given up for now  . Even hellblade with a modified nv inspector profile is great in SLI, will have to wait for another game patch and try again.

I have the EXACT same issue; I have a i9-9900X and 2x Titan RTX; I can't load in game with SLI profile on; it just loads, the screen turns black and I can hear audio from the game, then it crashes :(
I've tried pretty much everything as well; reinstalling the game, DDU'd my drivers, vsync on/off, random mix of graphics settings, GSYNC on/off etc.... Nothing seems to fix it which is a real bummer since I game at 4K and I want the visuals cranked.

Right now I have everything on ultra, completely 100% maxed out but I have to limit the game to 30fps :'(

I REALLY hope they get SLI functioning in this game, or mGPU or w/e

I have read through this entire post and tried many different nvidia profiles mentioned(Sajin, JustusLM, the GTAV youtube video and another from reddit Supreme), all yielding the same results. NO SLI ;( One thing I have not seen mentioned between those with success and those without is if they are on windows 7x64 or win 10. Im still on win 7 still and cant get SLI to work for rdr2, though it works for virtually every single game I play. I usually love SLI b/c I like to tinker and tweak to get things to work, but I'm banging my head on this one.

I have done nvidia profile imports in the past to get Unigine superposition to run SLI for example. and that worked like a charm, So i feel that im doing everything correct. I have 2x GTX 980s 4GB OC editions. Let me know guys win 7 or win 10?!?

Thanks for posting this. I read through the release notes and also found this in the “Known Issues” section:
[SLI][Red dead redemption 2][Vulkan]: The benchmark may crash while running in Vulkan mode with SLI enabled and using Ultra graphics settings.

Part of me wants to believe this means they are working on SLI. But I think all it means is they are working on fixing game crashes during the benchmark for people that have SLI enabled on a system level, not for people like us that are trying to force SLI/mgpu via Nvidia profile settings. I hope I’m wrong!

Edit: Some people are reporting mgpu is working with this new driver but with issues. Check out the comments section on the guru3d driver post: guru3d.com/files-details/geforce-441-20-whql-driver-download.html

Here’s a great thread on Resetera that details ways to fix various issues like stuttering and frame time issues. Haven’t been able to try any yet but could help with some of the issues those of us forcing mgpu/SLI are having:

Tested the new driver, too. SLI was enabled without changes, but the same result as with the custom profiles: flickering. rockstar go for it!

looks like new drivers 440.20 added multi GPU support for RDR 2. Going to test it now !!!

Edit: sorry didn't know that someone already posted about the new drivers. anyway going to test it and share my feedback.

Tested. its the same. Needs taa on for non flicker, scaling looks the same. Starting to think it was a misstake that enabled the sli. Settings looks the same as previous driver. frame time is crap and now i cant just disable sli ingame -.- Gonna try dx12 to see if i can run it steady. Finaly found accepteble settings ingame for non crash gameplay and they do this -.- have about the same fps as i have with my optimised settings with most on ultra rest on high. Second card has 64% usage at title screen. Something is way off in the scaling. Or could be pascal isent working great with the game..

I wonder if SLI will prevent HDR from working whenever that is implemented.

HDR doesn't work correctly in this game. SDR looks better.

Latest drivers did enable SLI by default but the game still crashes to the desktop after a black screen. Checking the event log gives me this error.

With Vulkan , 0 improvement and flicker fest . with DX12 , it is much better than before. with everything almost set to ultra. but I am not sure if it is actually doing mGPU on DX12 or not. but definitely there's an improvement with these drivers. Hopefully a patch from R* soon.

Game still black screens and crashes after the loading screen on Vulkan for me with clean install of the newest driver. DX12 works fine but only a single card works. Using Digital foundry's "Xbox one X optimized settings" I AVG 33 fps at 4k with a single 1080. Would totally be playable if SLI worked but for an Avg of 33fps I would rather just play it on my xbox with a controller. Need more frames to play with a mouse.

Running 2x 1080 Ti FTW3 w/9900k @5.0ghz With a mix of med/high settings (with a couple of known hogs at low) at 3440x1440 w/gsync

Using the new driver
Single card - 64.3
SLI Vulkan - 72.9 (but still with the massive flickering and the game does not feel as smooth. Almost feels like I'm running at lower fps)
SLI DX12 - 62.4 (SLI does not work using DX12. Only single card being used)

Now if I turn off Gsync
SLI Vulkan - 80.5

Not sure why Nvidia released this driver with SLI enabled since there are clearly some major issues. Only reason I can think of is that they are aware (or have it themselves) a game update that will fix these issues, especially the flickering.

Or it could have been a mistake. Its not in the documentation and its not better then the last driver so why release it now in the "quiet"? I think they messed up simply...

With new drivers, sli is working perfectly on vulcan. Vsync, TAA must be on to remove the flickering. Running dual 2080tis. Benchmark crashes, but story mode plays perfectly, tested for hours. Getting a solid 60fps at 4k all maxed out, no msaa, and vol at high. Everything else is ultra. GPU usage over 90% on both cards

Also I'm running both gsync and HDR.

running vsync totally defeats the purpose of Gsync.

When I did my testing I was running TAA. I just tried running it with Vsync as well and I still get the flickering. So that's not the solution, at least not for 10xx series cards.

Sorry should have been more specific, I run vsync in the NVIDIA control panel, not in game. These are the settings blur busters reccomemds along with a -3 fps vs cap for best use of gsync

I was reading that scratching my head. Hadn't heard of blur busters. Just went and read their article. Interesting, as it kind of acts like a fps cap.

back to topic on hand.

What you reported about the crashing.. it's in the driver notes
[SLI][Red dead redemption 2][Vulkan]: The benchmark may crash while running in Vulkan mode with SLI enabled and using Ultra graphics settings. [200565367]

Also in the fixes section:
[Red Dead Redemption 2][Vulkan]: G-SYNC disengages when disabling V-Sync on the game. [2740479]
What's interesting to me about this part is that I'm not sure this issue is really fixed. I think it's actually still happening but when sli is enabled. That's kind of what it feels like. I'm gonna have to go back and test with sli off and see if I notice a difference. Seemed to be running pretty smooth before this driver update.

Lucky you; I have similar specs and I can't get the game to load with SLI. I can get to the main menu, but if I try and load the benchmark or load a saved game, as soon as it finishes loading I get a black screen w/ game audio and a crash

Yea same frametime issue i have. Disable g-sync and running with v-sync in driver (Smooth)but off in game "fixed" it for me. its high 20-33ms but its more stable, im runnning all ultra exept taa at medium no ms/fx aa and turned down the geomety/grass settings a couple of steps. i get 44 fps average now. Dunno how stable yet tho... hmm your overlay doesn't flicker like mad... It does for me. Is that evga:s app?

Turing seems to run it better then pascals with more scaling. Tested it with single and got like 30 fps so less then 50% boost in fps. Dunno how optimised anything is tho since neither nvidia or rockstar seems to care to talk with us ^^ Hope it will get better with patches and drivers but im not holding my breath. Only game i really care about is cyberpunk. IT BETTER HAVE PROPER SLI SUPPORT! :P

Two questions:

1.) Enabling V-Sync gets rid of flickering even in the snowy areas? Also, what about flickering during cut-scenes?

2.) How did you get the OSD to show without flickering? Are you using MSI Afterburner? I thought Vulkan MGPU causes it to flicker like crazy.

EDIT: Enabling V-Sync does NOT get rid of the flickering in the snowy areas - I think the only way that can be resolved is if Rockstar patches it and releases an update. V-Sync on/off seems to make zero difference for me.

Lucky you; I have similar specs and I can't get the game to load with SLI. I can get to the main menu, but if I try and load the benchmark or load a saved game, as soon as it finishes loading I get a black screen w/ game audio and a crash

Exactly the same but a single card is fine. I've reinstalled the game, DDU my drivers, even gone as far as wiping my whole OS, used both the profiles on the previous driver as well. But still crashes in SLI mode.

I've stressed tested my 2080 Ti's, CPU and ran memtest and all has passed with flying colours. I can quite happily play the division 1, destiny 2, gta 5 shadow of the tomb raider or even hellblade with a hacked nv inspector profile for hours on SLI without any issues.

All system drivers are fully up to date as well as my bios but this bloody game is the only one to refuse to work in SLI for me.

Good job at running the benchmark many times to get a perfect run in without flickering. I've done the same before. =)
