Just built my first Mods Rigs page for my primary Folding@Home Rig - code name Nibbler This PC was built to help during the 2016 Folding TZ challenge in 3 days - (parts were in hand) Nibbler was built to reach maximum PPD while running the Folding@Home project Nibbler was instrumental in my reaching 1 Billion Folding points as a New Folder in only 7 months; with the help of three other EVGA GPUs in two other builds & the guidance and support of the EVGA Folding Team. Nibbler has nibbled about 3.5 Million PPD (points per day) on just the GPUs Thought I'd share the build and mods that I made to make it all fit Case - Phanteks Ethoo Primo - modded slightly for better airflow and room for hoses MB - EVGA X99 Classified Solid State Drive - Intel NVMe PCIe 750 Series 400GB Power Supply - EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 P2 CPU - Intel 5960X Cooling CPU - EK Supremacy EVO X99 Graphics 3 GPU
1- EVGA 1080 FE 2 - Titan X Pascal Edit / Update - Now with 3 Titan X Pascal GPUs --> [EVGA 1080 FE was removed (still going strong)] see Post #46 for more details Cooling GPUs

That's really nice man, no wonder you're a folding force! Thanks for showing it off. I see the 3000 mhz RAM, did you OC it or what did you do to make it run on 100blck? I want one!! [3 awesome PPD GPU's!!] +1

Actually have it down clocked as Folding is not RAM intensive to keep BK @ 100 Should have wrote the setting down; but, with a 3 day build somethings got lost in the mad dash to TZ challenge. When I pause folding to run some benchmarks - I'll see what it can do, maybe 3200

Test fitting EVGA X99 Classified MB & GPUs after modding case. The large Phanteks Ethoo Primo case has room and features, still required some modding. Bottom of 5.25 drive bay tray was notched to make room for the large waterlines to top radiator. 1/2 ID - 3/4 OD lines take some room Small "arm" remaining on the bottom of 5.25 drive bay tray, has a mounting point (see the small hole) that was the original length of bottom tray Bottom of Case had a solid section that would have blocked airflow to fans and radiator - cured that with a drill and some bits

Different view of bottom of case mod. Note the round holes that were added around fan on left side. Holes are covered with the Primo's stock 2 piece removable filters - that is why these fans are intake

EK Terminal block to join all 3 GPUs EK customer service told me that this combination of GPUs were not compatible with their terminal block. After some careful measurements with feeler gauges, I determined I could make it work - modding to commence So I removed some material with a router to make clearance and assure adequate pressure on the O-ring seals I think this undercut should be part of the Stock EK design for their terminals Tape sealed the ports to keep the inside clean and plugs in the threaded ports Test fit GPU Order left to right \: EVGA 1080 no backplate, Titan XP - EK bp, Titan XP - EK bp Closeup of the fitment, shows how the clearance made it all fit - water tight A = Acrylic top to WB - (contact, without O-ring) B = Nickel WB --- (clearance) C = PCB --------- (Tight fit, even after modding terminal) D = EK Backplate - (nice clearance)

Few more photos to round out the build You need parts You need GPUs and water blocks Another test fit was in order for the radiators Notice how the top radiator's hose fits with the bottom of the 5.25 drive tray that was notched - see the white anti-kink coil on the hose Titan X Pascal in surgery, to add a water block after removal of stock heatsink fan assembly It was a fun build over 3 days and is a Great Folding machine. Folding@Home give it a try you will have fun while helping to find a cure Nibbler will keep nibbling on the PPD Hope you enjoyed the show. Thanks notfordman The small removal of material in non-critical areas of the block allowed clearance around the PCB and backplate.

The Titan X P had EK backplates, the EVGA 1080 has none at this time - test to see if open air would help temps on back of card The EK WB were Not giving enough elevation to clear the PCB & maybe the Backplates. Terminal is touching the clear acrylic WB in this picture So, with three Cards, 3-way bridge for alignment, installed in mounted MB, pressing the terminal block (No O-rings) to the acrylic WB mount - I noticed the issue - rocking - light seemed to get by Noticed card had about a 0.012 gap between it and the terminal block. - if I remember correctly, did not record it No matter how I moved the cards, different PCIe slots, swap just the Titans same issue Water blocks have zero adjustment -- PCB (greenish yellow) was biggest issue Not the Backplate (black) A = Acrylic top to WB - (contact, without O-ring) B = Nickel WB --- (clearance) C = PCB --------- (Tight fit, even after modding terminal) D = EK Backplate - (nice clearance)

Thanks bcav, If it helps anyone that would be great. My 3-way setup was probably less forgiving than a 2-way, for alignment Necessity is the mother of invention. I might just post how I manage to mount an extra 140mm fan in the 5.25 bay to keep chipset and back of GPUs cool

thanks, Yes the Phanteks Ethoo Primo, is a very nice case and relatively inexpensive, considering the quality caselabs makes gorgeous cases - long leadtime on them

I like the primo for the size, price, and quality offered. Great for my first watercooling PC, plenty of room to make mistakes with an have excess tubing . It'll be my test case for PETG tubing here in a few weeks as well. Caselabs cases are awesome from what everyone has told me. Only ever seen them at a friends, this will be my first. Haven't heard anythign bad about them so I might end up getting a double in the future. Ordered mine mid Feb ^_^. Expected to ship end of april...another month to go! But timing is great, because my 1080ti's will both be here by the end of the week (hopefully), and my EK setup will be here near the end of the month. And finals is the first week of may. So everything should be here by the time I have the free time to start playing with it
