Just to be clear that's not my video. Rather my results are very similar; i.e. great sli scaling, no flicker.

When is the update going to be released? I don't see it yet.

Also, does anyone know how that guy in the video got the OSD not to flicker with Vulkan MGPU on? That's the first time I've seen that.

My OSD was solid when trying the settings from Sajin and JustusLM. Flickering OSD occurred once I reset the profile to default and only changed that one setting to Strange Brigade in the last driver, and now continues with newest driver. Haven’t seen the update either.

Could it be my friends? (Fixed an issue that resulted in flickering graphics artifacts on some systems using multiple graphics cards)

EDIT: nope...Also I thought I would pass this along for those of you that have frame time issues, By using any fps limiter you can limit it to 50fps and it seems the frame time issue is gone. Atleast for me. Give it a try!

Nope its not. Still need TAA on for flicker free with mGPU. Lost 4 fps in bench and still those weird frame time issues. Still putting 64% load on my second card on start screen(its 4% when sli is off) Seems its mostly bug fixes with cpu and so on. More settings in gfx too. Tess on trees is toggleble now. Nothing has really changed for me atleast. They fixed one bug it seems. I used to get weird "ghosting flicker" on the second scene in benchmarks. it dident happend now. Think thats the flickering artifacts that mentioned... Yay

Patchnotes below if you wanna read..

Spoiler

[November 13, 2019] Stability Fixes – PC
Graphics & Performance Fixes
  • Added an additional launch argument (-cpuLoadRebalancing) to rebalance workload on the CPU cores and avoid hitting an edge-case in certain NVIDIA graphics card drivers that causes significant stalls on 4-core and 6-core CPUs

For more information, please see this support page:
  • Added improvements for performance and stability on graphics cards with 4GB of VRAM or less when using Vulkan
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in audio stuttering and sound drops on some CPUs when using Vulkan

Game is broken for me now in sli. I can only make it to the menu now. If I try to run the benchmark or load into the story with sli enabled it causes the application to hang. Stuck to single card now. Good job rockstar.

I am using the latest nvidia driver 441.20

No issues running the game although I had no issue before.
The flicker is gone but I am using TAA and haven't tried it without it.
It still feels like the game isn't using G-sync while running MGPU. It just doesn't feel as smooth while I was running in a single gpu mode.

Need to do some more testing a bit. Had to refresh my settings. Right now though it just doesn't feel like running MGPU is really providing much benefit atm vs single card. This might be different for those running 2080Ti's.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2: SLI Support 2019/11/13 23:34:51 (permalink)
So there absolutely something wonky going with g-sync and sli in this game.

I tried running with g-sync disabled and the game felt much more smooth and with a higher over all fps. Granted those two go together but even in areas where I was getting the same fps (on vs off) the image is much smoother.

Another quirk I am noticing is when just restoring settings, the game is setting the refresh rate setting to 50 when my monitor has a 100 refresh rate. And that's kind of the kicker, even though my fps is saying that i'm getting around 70+ fps, the game feels like it's running at a lower fps when I have g-sync enabled.

After messing around with g-sync off, I went back and enabled it and I starting getting all kinds of issues. I couldn't even get back in to story mode with the game giving me a gfx crash error. I restarted my pc and was finally able to get back in.

More testing needed. Going to see what happens with single gpu with g-sync on vs off.

Hehe i did the same with nvidia with the new drivers. Kinda useless to enable mgpu byt default when it crashes for alot of ppl. Havent heard anything.. feels like i should have waited a couple of months and let em sort this stuff out before buying..

Its the same for me. Single card runs great with g-sync for me tho. its when mGPU is on and the frametimes goes to hell it starts to feel like 20 fps but i have like 40-50... Turning off g-sync and running fast v-sync or smooth v sync helped a bit. But then it gets worse after like 20 mins ingame and then game crash.. Is mgpu really this hard to implement? im no game developer but if i made screws and bolts like this i would get fired ^^

Okay - hopefully they fix it ASAP. The game is unplayable at 4K maxed out with a single GPU - even a Titan RTX.

Why are developers so incompetent? And from what others are saying, it looks like they actually lowered graphical fidelity? This is hideous if true.

They added more graphics options to the graphics menu, so no I don't think they lowered fidelity.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2: SLI Support 2019/11/14 00:23:33 (permalink)
So after more testing yeah this game has some serious issues with g-sync. Even running just a single gpu I had the same issues with going from g-sync off to back on, the game just kept crashing. I had to do a complete reset of the graphics options. Even then it took some messing around with the quality slider to get it working again. But once I was in game, even at a much lower FPS, like 45-50, the game felt much smoother with g-sync enabled on a single gpu than it did getting 70+ fps with mgpu and g-sync (supposedly) on.

I don't know what exactly is going but clearly this game still needs some patches.

I'm assuming that's in Vulkan? The game doesn't even load for me in Story mode - just black screen.

Any ideas?

Thats in vulkan, i used one of the profiles on here, then after last nights patch (the game wouldnt go beyond a black screen before this patch) im able to play properly with sli enabled before that it was all black screens, i have nothing to suggest as i just followed the advice previously given and i think its down to personal configurations and whether or not it will work, as an example Sajin's rig played it fine last week, before the patches but now doesnt and gets the same black screen, the game is truly messed up

Sajin, and everyone who gets a black screen on after loading the story mode.
Try setting <transferQueuesEnabled value="false" />
 to <transferQueuesEnabled value="true" />

in your settings file.

Wow. That fixed it. Thanks.

I can confirm I'm still getting flickering in the woods area, and where Arthur takes money out of the cash register in the benchmark. Snow area is flicker free now.

Patch has fixed SLI, working great at ultra 4K on 2x 2080 Ti's now as I only had a black screen and crash on loading before.

So it fixed SLI for me and broke it for everyone else, GG rockstar

I have said this before and people called me out saying its just conspiracy. Ill say it again. Nvidia doesnt want anyone using sli since they want to sell new cards every year. They care about money. Rockstar had a year to make the game run good with sli and they didnt. They wont fix sli, with each update they are simply going to make sure that it runs worse to make people use a single card. Nvidia leads the gpu market, therefore gaming companies will kiss their ass and do what they want. Its nice that people are trying to get it fixed but dont expect rockstar to fix it for you. I have an sli set up and the game sadly runs better with one card. With sli even with 98% scaling on both cards, the frametims is horrible and TAA takes so much performance out of it, not to mention the flickering. If people want to start talking stuff then go ahead but in the end what i said its whats happening. Keep defending greedy companies. Thats how EA became what it is.
