So Optimus has tweeted that those who pre-ordered the KP block should receive an e-mail today (really hoping it's true) regarding the progress of the block and how to choose the finish.  They also said that the ETA is still a few weeks out...I'm thinking November/December...

Thanks for sharing the info.  I actually thought they would be sending the notifications at the end of the week just like how they shared the info on the new finishes they are offering.  I'm going to be checking my emails now throughout the day on my phone so I can get my selection in as early as possible.

On a side note, my son's pc will now be getting a CPU/MOBO upgrade which now required me to order a new CPU block since he was intel and will now be changing to Ryzen.  I saw online at the Optimus site the AM4 block was available.  I ordered one last night and this morning I got the shipping notice from Optimus that my order is on its way to me.  Just thought I'd share.

i'm not holding my breath for the email. Clearly materials are not even available so i doubt they are in any rush to send them out.

Well it’s 7pm eastern here and Chicago is 1 hour behind, so it seems that the “promise” of sending out emails today won’t come to fruition. At least they are consistent in missing their proposed deadlines. LOL.

Yeah, I didn't get anything yet.  And now it looks like what I shared might be close to the truth.  They might have most of the materials, but things are still missing and such.  I was hoping they had turned the corner and was going to be able to meet what they shared about timelines.

On a positive note I did get my shipping notice for my CPU block though that I ordered last night.  I was thinking I'd be waiting a month on that one.

But if you look back on my posts here in this thread, I'm still thinking it's going to be around mid October before they send out the blocks.  I should have entered the lottery.

Their products are really good, but I do wish they wouldn't lead us on like this by telling us the shipping date was going to be two weeks out like they did a few weeks back.  Kinda got excited for a bit, but kept my reservations about being able them being able to do it like they shared.

The wait continues...

Re: OPTIMUS SIGNATURE GPU BLOCK - KINGPIN 3090 2021/09/24 18:52:50 (permalink)
Got an email from them a little while ago.  Another 2 week delay or so due to the new ceramic process and some issue with delivery of the Fuji pads.

--- cut ---
Why the delay?
Some of our acrylic stock is held up from the manufacturer. Their latest timeline: "...we should have it here in the next week or two" meaning, 1-2 weeks until the acrylic arrives at distribution and then onto us. Other suppliers are also dealing with delays and shortages, and moving to a lesser grade of acrylic would be unacceptable, so there aren't easy alternative solutions.

Additionally, Fujipoly thermal pads were expected at our factory a month ago (this is for all our products, not just KP). Now: "...there was a shortage in material due to the making the PG product [our backplate pad type]. The entire blanket order is coming in early October where [Fuji then cuts the sizes we need]." We've figured out a solution to get the pads faster, but it's still not immediate.

In the meantime, the entire Optimus team really appreciates you hanging in there! We're incredibly excited about the new Kingpin and hope you will even more thrilled when you finally see it in person!

I just got an email from Optimus as well and I chose my finish and cold plate style.  Pleasantly surprise. So, like said, maybe November/December...

I got my email response from Optimus, they informed me that the Cerakote Satin Silver was not available option.  I don't know if that means they sold out or they made a mistake when notifying pre-orders.  I double checked the notification email from Optimus and the Cerakote Satin Silver was listed as a block option.  I used their exact terms when I replied and in their email back to me they listed:  white, nickel, or black.  I asked them about this and now I'm waiting on a response from them on this on whether the silver is the new cerakote finish or their previous platting process.  I will post once I get a reply from them.

The e-mail that I received did not have the Cerakote Satin Silver option.  The options that were listed in the e-mail that they sent me were the Matte White/Black and Satin Nickel finishes.

Re: OPTIMUS SIGNATURE GPU BLOCK - KINGPIN 3090 2021/09/27 12:27:08 (permalink)
On my initial email from Optimus, the below was copied over:

BLOCK FINISH (choose one):
-Cerakote Matte White
-Cerakote Matte Black
-Cerakote Satin Nickel

COLD PLATE FINISH (choose one):
-Raw Copper
-Pro-XE Nickel

INCLUDED GASKETS:
Both white and black EPDM gaskets will ship with all preorders. Matching gasket color will be installed (ex: black block with black gasket installed), extra contrasting-color gasket will be in included.

So I'm not sure now is the silver the cerakote or not?  Are your initial emails like mines or different?  Sorry to ask, but from the sound of things I would have really liked to have the cerakote if possible but white or black does not match my current build the KP is in.

Thanks for letting me know you guys got the same email info.  But this does confuse me as the below is what I received/sent out to them.

This was my response to the notification on color choices:

I would like to choose the following options for my Kingpin Block:
Block Finish:  Cerakote Satin Silver
Cold Plate Finish:  Pro XE Nickel
Gasket Color:  White

Knowing the communication issues of the past, i tried to keep it as simple as they presented it.  I also supplied my order number in my response to them with the above attached.

This is information from the email I got back this morning from them which confused me:

Got your message!

We actually do not have Satin Silver as a block option.  Would you prefer white, nickel, or black?

Now I'm kinda not sure what is going on.  This is why I wanted to see what others who may have ordered the Cerakote Satin Silver option if they got the same initial response from Optimus or was their order confirmed?  I double checked my order number and even provided them the date of the order as well.

Now I'm waiting to see what they say.  If anyone else ordered a "sliver" finish can you share if you got the same response as mines?

Thanks

-Cerakote Satin Nickel

I mean just read back your request and their reply. It seems to be splitting hairs but you said "silver" and they don't have silver, they have nickel. Just send them back a reply saying you want satin nickel. you don't need to specify the gasket color either, all the KPE blocks come with both sets (dark and light) so you can swap them to whichever color you'd like. I think you're all good, just a bit of confusion with semantics :)

Guys, I'm just realized I put silver instead of nickel.  My bad wasting your time.  As much as I tried to make sure i did it right, I missed that.  MDB got me looking at my post and I was wrong and I should have read more into zippy's post too.

Does it show how much I want the Cerakote finish?

Have a great day and thanks for trying to help me out.  My apologies again for wasting your time with my mistake.

One a better note, I ordered a new AMD Foundation block for my son's pc on Thursday night and it arrived 3000 miles away today.  I was pretty shocked and very happy this block came in so quickly.  Fully impressed with the quick ship and delivery.  I'm always amazed at the quality of the cpu block, the materials they use, and the low cost of the cpu blocks.  It's going to be another Optimus blocked build, just waiting on his 3080 for me to order the GPU block for it.  I'm hoping for that one to get the white cerakote finish as his build has a white theme.

I've contacted Optimus a few times without success to get the dimensions of the KPE block. I'm mounting vertically, and want to ensure that I have enough clearance between the top of the terminal and the top-mounted rad in my case. Is it a fairly safe bet that the height of the KPE block when mounted vertically (ie. distance from PCIE slot to edge of terminal) would be the same as the FTW3 block?

Pretty pumped for this block! Optimus just confirmed my colour choices and updated my order (Satin Nickel block + Pro-XE cold plate). I'll also be getting their Signature V2 CPU block and 8.5" Res at the same time.

I would think the two blocks should be similar in "height".  The KP is .05" taller than the FTW3 according to EVGA.  The port on the blocks look to be similar in size in the pictures but there was no side by side pictures of the two different blocks to really compare.  You must be in a small form factor for the concern about the block hitting your top rad so do you know how much clearance you have right now?  Also are you currently using the FTW3 block from Optimus and if so how much clearance do you have now?

I have a Core X9. Giant case, but not a ton of room above the GPU if you mount a thick rad right above it. The alternative is to mount the rad in the lower compartment, but that's not preferred.

I currently have the KP hybrid, which fits just fine with its skinny rad.

you need to stack 2 of those core x9s dude!  jk...  i have same case and it is tight.  they could have made it an inch taller and it would have been gold.

LOL! Could add an aquarium section in there too. Maybe make it part of the loop and throw in a few of those shrimps that clean everything.
