😂😂😂 @ fanboy that’s funny.

You seem to be the only one blindly defending Optimus multiple times in this thread.  Nobody but an Optimus fanboy or employee would do that.

My experience with Optimus has been good. Every email I sent. They replied the next day.

They were good when I sent an email inquiring about buying a replacement gasket for my Signature V2 CPU block - they asked for my address and mailed me one for free. I was also on the wait list for a 3090 block waaay back at the start - I canceled and they were fine with it and refunded very quickly. I don't know if they got in over their heads with this KP block, or if the cerakote just wasn't trialed enough and they launched too soon and everything just turned to custard from there.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  ..they were always synonymous with very high quality in prior years, although delays were nothing new. I hope they learned a few lessons and can pick things up down the line. Lol, at least they didn't do an Artisan Builds on us!

same for me. i've probably purchased 2ish thousand dollars worth of water blocks, fittings, and loop parts from them directly. New and blemish/b stock. Sometimes I made errors and purchased the wrong item(s) and needed to return or exchange things. I never waited more than 1 business day for a reply and every time they replied it was to let me know my refund/exchange was processed and on its way. So while I get that others have had bad experiences with them, I can't speak to that, personally.

This includes the 2 kpe blocks I pre-ordered the moment they became available. Like many others, I was frustrated by the cryptic production process/timeline and bailed after several weeks and a couple of disappointing delays. I'm not fanboy but thought i'd offer my experience for contrast.

Will I buy their blocks in the future? Maybe. For me, the insane price of the kpe blocks didn't sit well with me when the delays and excuses started. I know things happen, but that's a *very* premium price for a product that yes, probably wasn't ready for production when they took our money.

If i'm guessing, this is a very small operation that lacks a real leadership structure and would do well to find a buyer to improve their processes. Maybe they're doing this or have done it already? Time will tell

Whelp, after half a year, finally got mine in and running. I'm thoroughly impressed. No leaks, held 0.5 out of the box. Assembled pin straight, no bend to backplate or PCB post assembly. Fit in my case without needing extensive modification, temps are PHENOMENAL. I'm getting 8° water delta over ambient and 6° GPU core over water at 518w. That's insane to me.

Anywho, here's two pictures, not as cool as Jsunn's but I do my best:

"Our 4090 block is inbound for November..."    I'll take this with 10 truck loads of salt. I believe Optimus' statement when it happens.

It was interesting to see their twitter come alive when the 40-series started getting closer.

I don’t know how they could say those problems are “early” batches when the entire delivery was 7 months behind. They screwed up big time on communication, delivery and now ownership. Spin insults everyone’s intelligence.

Well they have new blocks to sell, gotta spin...

Will be interesting to see how it pans out with their 4090 blocks.

Re: OPTIMUS SIGNATURE GPU BLOCK - KINGPIN 3090 2022/10/21 12:56:11 (permalink)
Not sure I'd go back for Cerakote again.  Not having a option for a nickel finish would make me look at other blocks should I get a 4090 in the future.  I have my kingpin running and while the temps have been good I'm not looking forward to taking apart the block and possibly have the cerakote flake off.  Since I'm going to start playing DCS in the near future I am looking like I will be looking to pick up a 4090 or possibly even a 7950XT depending on how that comes out.  The blocks being available for each GPU would have a huge impact on what GPU on decide on in the end.  Would love to see EVGA come back to the GPU market when the time comes for a GPU upgrade.

Still can't figure out why the KP block didn't extend all the way to the display port area on the block though.  While it may have added a bit more weight to the block, it would have been so much less prone to bending the pcb in a horizontal position.

The delays were a whole different issue, but you can only hope that they are learning to be better.

Still love the original nickel block I ordered for my 3090.

Optimus has the potential to be a great niche company and I hope they are getting better at meeting their timelines they share and improve their communications especially related to delays and launches.

Re: OPTIMUS SIGNATURE GPU BLOCK - KINGPIN 3090 2022/10/23 10:59:01 (permalink)
I spent last night taking apart my Optimus KP 3090 blocks and cleaning them.  It seems that most of the cerakote that was flaking off finally stopped.  I scrubbed the cerakote coated parts with a sponge, water, and dish soap.  Then I rinsed them off and let them dry.  I rinsed off the other parts.  After drying everything off, I reassembled them.

It is rather annoying that I had to do this on a set of high priced water blocks.  They should have never been shipped out in that condition.

To monitor and catch the particles flaking off, I attached a spare CPU water block with QDC fittings in the loop after the KP 3090 cards to act as a filter.  I'd take the CPU block out of the loop and take it apart to clean out the particles it caught.  I haven't seen any small particles in the block lately, so I assumed the coating stopped flaking off the GPU blocks.

Optimus' claim that it was touch up areas that wasn't cured properly may be true because most of the coating looks to be intact.

if I saw anything in my system, I would try a clear fuel filter, might try that when I rebuild it next year

I've seen one recently go on sale on ebay but the seller wanted over the cost of the block since it is not made anymore.  Bykski  makes a block for the 3090 Kingpin with active rear cooling.  That would be your only other option other than the hydrocopper version if you can find one.  I would give the bykski version a shot if you need a block.  It costs a whole lot less than the Optimus does at around 200 bucks.

Hope this helps.

late response but your build looks awesome. I'm currently building/ upgrading my pc with the Optimus 3090 KP card/ block. Seems like you use the EKWB TBE D5 Combo aswell.  How do you manage to mount it? I struggle to fit mine in my Evolv X. It doesn't fit when I use the fan bracket even when the card is mounted vertically :/ Even when I would buy a smaller radiator (for example SE360 from EK) it still wouldn't clear because the power connectors are on the side.. Don't know what to do now since i really don't want to buy a new case..
Have you or anyone else here any tips?

Would also upload a photo but doesn't seem to work here
