Wished Optimus created a acrylic add on piece that covered the sli slot if it’s not being used. So that the gpu block can look symmetrical for aesthetics.

Here's my progress.  I got just about everything done.  I need to update mobo bios and then a little more cable management with installation of the psu.  Most of the cables are already run, just need to tuck a bit more once the PSU is installed.  Once I do that then it's time to power it up and see if it posts.

Still gotta figure out a new Aida 64 panel in the middle open space area but I might hold out on that for a bit since eventually I will be moving this stuff to my new Corsair 1000D Obsidian in the near future.

Thanks Zippy again for the info.  I added the additional pump/res combo on the lower left.  My lph jumps around a bit on distilled water between 190s to 220s liters per hour.  I know my lph will drop a bit when I add the EK Cryofuel but atleast its the flow is much improved.

This has been something I've been waiting for quite a while.  Hopefully tomorrow I should be able to start loading the OS and support programs needed.

Currently says "sold out" on their website - don't see anything saying end of line. Given the issues they've had, I wouldn't be surprised if they called it a day on that block though.

I'm mounting vertically, and want to ensure that I have enough clearance between the top of the terminal and the top-mounted rad in my case. Is it a fairly safe bet that the height of the KPE block when mounted vertically (ie. distance from PCIE slot to edge of terminal) would be the same as the FTW3 block?

It is not the same and when mounted vertically the KP will be taller with the terminals closer to the cpu block.  I had the 3090 FTW3 Ultra with the Optimus block in my O11 build.  I mounted that gpu vertically and when I did my initial conversion back in December 2021 I found that the terminal block of the Kingpin was a bit higher and covered up much of the mobo and part of my CPU block.  I ended up mounting it horizontal in that case due to the spacing and appearance.

I just finished up loading the OS and some of the software I needed to load on my new build.

Here it is:

Flow rate is pretty good now that I added another D5 pump.  I haven't had a chance to bench mark anything yet.  Cable management in the Enthoo Pro case sucks and if I had to do it over again I would have skipped the side rad to free up space for cables and to simplify the cooling loop.

I did have an issue with the Lian Li controllers for my unifans I still have to resolve.  One of the controllers is showing up as a SL controller which I'm pretty sure it is not.  I'll take a look at it more later this week.  The fans are operational and spinning but I am limited on options for the rgb.  I also ran into issues with the X1 software not running after I loaded it.  It goes through the initial load after I click on it but then it does run.  I'll look into that in a bit when I resolve the Lian li controller too.  So far so good, it lasted longer than the last time.

Zippy,
Thanks for the help and info.  I would have been chasing the flow rate issue longer if you hadn't shared your info.  Your info was spot on and I'm getting low 200s in the lph now.

Temps are great so far as I was running some initial bench testing last night without having adjusted the memory OC.  I'm a bit hesitant to mess with the CPU OC right now though.  I got it to right under 15k so I think my KP might be a dud but I plan on using the classified tool later and see if it helps.  My last KP also did not run very well and was under 15k without afterburner.  With afterburner I got it 15.5k on the hybrid cooler before it went back in the box waiting for the optimus block.

I still have a few small things to work out, but atleast I'm actually using my setup now.  I will need to start figuring out what additional rads and parts I will need to move my stuff from this to the 1000D Obsidian soon.  That should be the last case I do for my personal home build for a while once completed.

Awesome build!
When you get a chance, please run a Port Royal Stress test and let us know how your temps and clocks faired. Post more pics!

Temps on the optimus block is pretty good. Port Royal, my max gpu temp is 38c with ambient air being 26c. My vram maxed out at 52c. This is with only a 360 and 280 rad.

Re: OPTIMUS SIGNATURE GPU BLOCK - KINGPIN 3090 2022/06/01 10:30:23 (permalink)
Zippy,
I did run some Port Royal benchmarks yesterday but because it was hot where I live (about 30c) I thought I would run a few more at night when it is bit cooler. I ended up watching tv last night instead so I didn't run any more benchmarks.

I spent most of yesterday trying to adjust the settings in the classified tool and then also in X1.  The scores just were not there using X1 in conjunction with the classified tool.  I was chasing scores and adjustments all day pretty much and the best I could do was around 15,400 pumping more voltage going into my kingpin than I would like to.  My original Kingpin did 15,600 with the aio on afterburner without the classified tool and struggled to get right below 15,200 on X1.  I didn't bench this Kingpin with the AIO so I don't have a reference but I'm thinking that it could be a struggle with this gpu.

I plan on downloading and trying afterburner this afternoon when I get home from work and then making a few more runs with that and the classified tool tonight.  I didn't notice my temps getting up there enough to cause concerns but to be honest I was getting frustrated chasing scores I didn't even bother to remember the temps.  I believe my temps stayed under 40c at the gpu and coolant around 95f which converts to around 35c.  This was after repeated port royal test were made with adjustments in between.  The temps were decent and holding because I'm pretty sure it would have frustrated me more if the block.  In fact I know I was pretty impressed overall since I was looking at seeing if the money and time spent on the optimus block was worth it in the end.  I believe I was satisfied with the performance of the block after repeated runs.  If the temps were not holding at a decent level I wouldn't have been making those repeated runs during the day like I did chasing adjustments.

Other than that the pc has been running fine.  I found my issue with the Lian Li controller and resolved that along with adding my 3rd drive (ssd sata) that I left unconnected during the installation to help make sure I identified the correct drives for my operating system and secondary use.  Since I was messing the Lian Li controller I hooked that drive up.  Everything is pretty much running as a pc should and just need to download my games to the drives now.

Atleast my pc is done for now until I start moving stuff over to my 1000D Obsidian case.  I was looking at the layout and how others ran their loops and as large as the case is to run twin large pump res combos will be tight with push pull fan setups on a medium thickness rad for the front.  I'm also thinking of going back to the vertical mount for the gpu when I move to this case but wont know for sure until I start working in it and laying out the components.  Up top I should be good on space with medium thickness twin 360s up there with push/pull fans, the bottom is where I think I will have enough "dead" space for a monitor screen, and then I have to figure out if I'm going to remove the hard drive enclosure which would require drilling out the rivets and then repainting the contact areas since I believe they might be unfinished bare metal at the contact points between the hard drive enclosure and the rest of the case.  My plan is for 30 fans, but we will see if I'm able to fit all that along with 4 medium thickness rads (2* 360mm and 2 * 480mm) along with the two large Kinetic 300 pump res combos.

What classified voltages and settings were you using? You should be able to squeeze 15500-16000 with your setup, bin dependent ofc

I was using in order top to bottom:
1.25
1.4
1.2
400
400
level 0 for both and enabled for both

Got me to 16k

I'm pretty sure using anything higher without LN2 isn't recommended, although these blocks you might be able to push it a sliver more, but YMMV.

OK, I just tried your settings, but didn't have any luck. I think I don't really know how this works so "Operator Error" is definitely possible.
My clock speed dropped to 1935MHz as soon as the benchmark started.
Where were your settings in X1? You Core and Mem offset? And did you move the sliders at all? Not sure what my first steps should be with Classified tool.
Thanks,

Dropping clocks sounds like the GPU was getting too hot right off the bat.  What was your core offset?

Shouldn't have to move the voltage sliders at all in X1 if you're using the Classy tool and the XOC VBIOS.  Just the clock offsets.  (Are you using the 1000W XOC BIOS?)

I'm not on the 1000W XOC Bios, I just have the stock BIOS loaded, the BIOS Switch is in the LN2 position.
I set my Core offset to +150 and my Mem to +1300.
Do I need the 1000W BIOS?

No point in classified without the 1000w

I assumed that was known. Kingpin will pull upwards of 600w w the xoc bios and some modest voltage increases

You'll likely want the 1000W XOC bios, especially if you use the classy tool.  You'll be pushing voltages high enough to draw some decent power.  Run GPUZ while you're benching and you may see you're power limited without it.

Yeah, I see that I am hitting the power limit.
My Max Power draw for those attempts has been 547W. I think I did see a 589W earlier.
Is there a link to DL the 1000 XOC BIOS?

Thanks,
J

There's this one, but not sure if it's the ReBAR enabled one:

I have found 2 versions from the link you supplied:

Filename:EVGA.RTX3090.24576.201124.rom
VBIOS Version:94.02.38.00.2F
UEFI Supported:Yes
BIOS Build date:2020-11-24 00:00:00

Filename:EVGA.RTX3090.24576.210329_1.rom
VBIOS Version:94.02.59.00.82
UEFI Supported:YesBIOS
Build date:2021-03-29 00:00:00

Version: 94.02.59.00.82 seems to be the latest from that site.
Not sure if there are other locations to look.

Can anyone take a look at which version you are using and if it does have RBAR enabled?

Thank you,
Jason

OK,
I loaded the 1000W XOC BIOS.
I went with the settings in the classified tool that USMC listed above.
I set Mem Off set to +1300
Core Offset +220
1.25
1.4
1.2
400
400
level 0 for both and enabled for both

My port Royal Score went to 15,512. This is a personal record for me.
I did get a "warning message" on my on card display screen that said, "NVVDD Too High!"

But for the sake of experimenting, that is pretty cool.
I don't think I ma going to be able to get to 16k, but it is nice to see more potential of the card unlocked.

My max power draw during the test was: 653W.
