I  finally have made one of the many custom waterblocks I made in.  I had this block made overseas, for a very good price.  I designed it and used my measuring instruments to get accurate dimensions.  I incorporated a heatsink in the back and inscribed the name X299 FTW K into the top acrylic section.  More of my custom designs to come.  I made the bottom of the block have a loose amount of clearance as I did not want to hit any components.  While this gap will be "worse" for thermal transfer on paper, I can help offset this by using high w/mk pads.  I bought some Fujipoly Sarcon series 3.5mm 6w/mk pads.  I have gasket cord stock on the way, 1mm cross section Viton, which I will splice.  The copper base is made of C11000 copper and the top out of Plexiglas acrylic (PMMA).  I have the holes tapped for M3 on top of the block, M2.5 for the standoffs and G1/4 BSPP for the ports.  Surface finish on the block is RMS63.  Should have the block in my hands in around a week.

Looks interesting but a few critiques. The chunky heatsink on the back looks cool but functionally speaking a waterblock shouldn't need a heatsink to remove heat or that really defeats the point of the waterblock in the first place unless you are intending this to be functional without using water flow. In which case the fins would need to be much smaller and much more of them to meaningfully increase the surface area to transfer heat. Also 3.5mm pads even the highest w/mk pads aren't going to be ideal. I'm sure you can tighten the tolerance down more to allow for more efficient heat transfer. A solid first effort though, keep up the work.

The pads will be compressed around 2.5-3mm, I played it safe as it was my first block put into production.  Of course this is not ideal, 0.5-1mm would net the best heat transfer , but the bock is already made so there is no "tightening tolerance down" on this one.  I added the fins for some extra surface area, little combo design I made.  I have plans to make a full-cover for this board, as those are my favorite type of block.  This would have tighter tolerances to bring the contact points on the block closer.

I was assuming you were going to keep refining your design. If this is just a "one off" then not bad at all for a first effort.

Thanks, I posted pictures of the product after being machined.  More custom blocks to come for sure.

Awesome, I wanted to make custom VRM block for my X299 DARK mobo.. this is good inspiration.  It's probably nice to use something in your loop that you personally made too, keep it up!

Thank you!  I am starting work on an X299 Dark block, as I had a request from my friend, I don't own the dark so currently in the process of getting measurements.  Should have the VRM block on 11/22.

Have a V2 version in the works with closer contact to the mosfet's, upgraded gasket from 1mm to 2mm, some extra external fins and internal fins.  The acrylic top was beefed up more to allow for a deeper threading of the G1/4 ports.  Installed to the board with a great fit!  V2 should be made this week hopefully and in my hands by next week.

Finished making the X299 Dark VRM block.  Has machined out contact points for the mosfets and VRM controller. Thermal pad distance would be 1mm.  Holes are tapped on the bottom for M2 screws and M3 screws for the Acrylic top.  Inside there is a finned / stepped structure to add surface area for a completely overkill block.  Standoffs would be machined just like my FTW K block and would use 1mm thick nylon washers that would be in between the board and block.

Small update, did a 3D print of the Dark VRM block (copper base) to check fitment.  Printed out of PLA on an Ultimaker S5 Pro.
