Why is EVGA not warning us about the "Red LED of Death" / "Red Light of Death" issue with their 3090 FTW(x) ultra and other graphics cards?
It appears EVGA neglected to inform its customers about the high failure rates of 3090 cards, possibly due to design or manufacturing defects. Even more concerning, they sold refurbished cards with a shorter 1-year warranty, which could fail again for the same reasons, leaving customers with no recourse once out of warranty.

I purchased a 3090 FTW Ultra 24GB video card in late October 2023, and just over a year later, it stopped working, showing a solid red LED over the last connector – a symptom commonly referred to as the "Red LED of Death." or "Red Light of Death", when Searching online, I found many users experienced the same issue, with similar red LEDs appearing on their cards.

Despite writing to EVGA three times, I was told my warranty had expired, and they provided names of third-party repair services, which charge $250 to $500, with no guarantee of success in repairing the card. This response is unacceptable, especially since many of these refurbished cards were repaired when new and being fixed and sold as refurb and failing again with the same issue.

Given the widespread nature of this problem, it may be time for a class action lawsuit to hold EVGA accountable and seek extended warranties for both new and refurbished cards. A quick search for "Red Light of Death" / "Red Light of Death", reveals numerous EVGA customers with 3090 and a lower number of 3080 cards facing sudden failures, highlighting a potential design flaw that should have prompted a recall or a longer warranty and sales stoppage for refurb'd cards..

What is the design defect? How many confirmed failed units? How many total units sold? Where the GPU's used for mining? Just a few the questions you have to have actual verifiable answers Too. Sorry your gpu died pay to fix it or sell it for parts and buy a new gpu that has an extended warranty. Personally i would trust a used Evga GPU over most New Gpu's. In ten plus years have not seen a failure in real world proper gaming Have Evga Card all the way back to the GTX 660 that still work

The 3090 FTW ultra seems to be the most reported with failures, I did see postings for 3090's and 3080's, but the card I ended up buying had the same type of failure. You will have to search for red light of death evga or red led of death evga. As for the number of cards, that would be left to a legal firm with a calss action and not me calling and asking EVGA, I really doubt they are going to tell me or even they even log each support email sent to them. My issue is this had a number of them fail under warranty and they fixed them and resold them as refurb and they failed again knowing this was a very common problem with this card since they had been failing. Again suggest you search and read the meat of the threads not the title and the users responding with I had the same issue ect ect ect. They also have Youtube videos on these 3rd party companies fixing them that EVGA is sending people to and lots of pictures on the net of the same issues or issues like what I have. Users thought it could be a heat related issue or voltage and even just poor fuse or other component failures, I guess you have to ping the 3rd party repair places and ask what they have been repairing.
