The latest reply from Optimus on Twitter is that they are waiting for their suppliers to deliver acrylic and thermal pads for the Kingpin blocks. It will be a few more weeks. I guess they didn't order enough materials ahead of time when they received all those preorders for the KP blocks back in July or they ordered the stuff in July and its not here yet. I'm hoping to get my Optimus KP blocks before 2022.

Why don't they send out let's say the first 20 blocks already? That could be done even if they don't have enough materials to build all the pre-ordered blocks. Currently it doesn't look like they don't have enough material - it looks like they have nothing to work with...

bjohannes1984 I've contacted Optimus a few times without success to get the dimensions of the KPE block. I'm mounting vertically, and want to ensure that I have enough clearance between the top of the terminal and the top-mounted rad in my case. Is it a fairly safe bet that the height of the KPE block when mounted vertically (ie. distance from PCIE slot to edge of terminal) would be the same as the FTW3 block? Pretty pumped for this block! Optimus just confirmed my colour choices and updated my order (Satin Nickel block + Pro-XE cold plate). I'll also be getting their Signature V2 CPU block and 8.5" Res at the same time.
They replied about dimensions in a tweet.

I wonder what's the height difference between the stock cooler (from pcb to backplate). The kingpin sits pretty closely to the motherboard heatsink as it is.

I have 2 3090 KPE HC and they do just fine, and my next plans involve LN2 so I don't see the point in spending $1200 on water blocks for a card nearing end of the current gen, especially with the 3090 Ti likely to be here in January having a totally new board design (blocks won't fit). This time of year is when i'm starting to clear out surplus stuff and while the blocks look fantastic, I have 2 of their blocks from this year's production for strix and ftw3...and while they look great there just isn't much to justify the premium for me this late on. I'm sure they'll make someone very happy in their single gpu builds and I plan to pass them on with the blocks when I sell.

Where did you hear the board will be a totally new design? i suspect they will just switch the GPU and call it good. 3080 blocks fit 3080TI's so it would be a surprise if Evga went to all the trouble of redesigning/producing the KPE for what would be a less than a year's production. With that said, i agree that if there's no more KPE's until January, it's of limited appeal. After all the wait, may as well just wait for the 4090 KPE

Even *if* the remainder of the PCB stays the same (doubt), increasing the memory bandwidth will likely mean changing the power delivery/plane at least slightly. Guess we'll see, but for me I can't justify $1200 for 2 water blocks that won't work with a card i'll be after in 3 months. Bonus is that's 2 blocks sooner for all of you! Enjoy them, I don't mean to rain on parades, the blocks look INSANE and I am still very excited to see them in your builds and how well they perform!

Still waiting and want to see real numbers on how well active back plate does vs HC block. Have a HC block on my KP card and a OP block on FTW 3 ultra RTX 3090 and under load mem junction is 20c lower with optimus block over the HC block .

It should be worth the wait . Overclocking season is near 48 F here now in valley and snowing on top of mountain few miles away and about mile up.

I think your spot on about the PCB changes, obviously its all speculation. The 3090ti rumors (which at this point are practically just pre release announcments) have me hesitant on doing a full loop after running a full AIO setup for almost a year on this card. But i also dont want to wait for 3090ti queue, and then a waterblock for that. Makes me want to do a 4090 strix with the slow speed of the blocks for such a high end card.

According to Optimus, besides waiting for the acrylic material (which are in shipping containers at docks waiting to be moved/shipped), the other parts (cold plate) have been manufactured and are being coated as per the pre-orders' emails. TBH, it's the lack of communication at times that drives me a bit nuts with Optimus. Their products are really good, but their communication is sometimes lacking. Sharing a release date, then not meeting it is the biggest concern I have. If they didn't have the materials in hand my opinion which doesn't count to anyone but me they should not have put out a release date or expected ship date like they did. Putting out the shipping date earlier like they did impacted my decision to delay a build which was depending on my water blocked 3090 which I'm currently using while waiting on the KP to be converted to water. Since I didn't want to work on the not want to work on the new loop twice I held back doing it since the earlier shipping date was released by Optimus. I ended up working on that build this past week in my free time and it is about ready minus the gpu waterblock. Now almost 3 weeks after their initial ship date we are still waiting on them to get the materials in and then they still have to manufacture the parts needed to complete the blocks and then send them off to us. They make awesome parts, and i don't want to cancel my order at all even after the delays. It's just the communication could have been a bit better. I'm really hoping to get the block in by late November at the latest now. I hate to have pc components shipped during the holiday rush. Crossing my fingers that they are able to get the materials they need to finish these off soon.

Looks like Optimus posted to twitter saying they got the materials in. The tweet doesn't specifically say it was for the KP, but I'm crossing my fingers thinking it will be. They posted that they will be working over the weekend on finishing the parts. If this is for the KP, then maybe a ship out from them late next week for early orders. I really am crossing my fingers. I got the email also, I think you also need to put your order number in as well in addition to the color selection. You will also need to enter block finish (white, black, nickel), cold plate finish (Copper or XE nickel), and it will include the installed color matched gasket and the spare of the other color (white or black depending on block finish). I got my email on September 24, 2021.

Gotspeed_2000 TBH, it's the lack of communication at times that drives me a bit nuts with Optimus. Their products are really good, but their communication is sometimes lacking. Sharing a release date, then not meeting it is the biggest concern I have. If they didn't have the materials in hand my opinion which doesn't count to anyone but me they should not have put out a release date or expected ship date like they did.
I agree that they should have had materials in hand before accepting pre orders. Optimus has a reputation for missing delivery dates then missing the rescheduled delivery dates and also a reputation for a lack of or poor communication with customers. Gotspeed_2000 Putting out the shipping date earlier like they did impacted my decision to delay a build which was depending on my water blocked 3090 which I'm currently using while waiting on the KP to be converted to water. Since I didn't want to work on the not want to work on the new loop twice I held back doing it since the earlier shipping date was released by Optimus. I ended up working on that build this past week in my free time and it is about ready minus the gpu waterblock.
I would have done soft tubing to bypass the GPU block section just to get the system up and running. In the past, I've purchased cheap CPU blocks to get a build done while waiting for an Optimus CPU block. My "in stock and ready to ship" Optimus CPU blocks have taken 3+ months to arrive. At this point, I assume that with Optimus "in stock and ready to ship" means they have the materials ordered and not the blocks are assembled, boxed up and ready to go. Gotspeed_2000 Now almost 3 weeks after their initial ship date we are still waiting on them to get the materials in and then they still have to manufacture the parts needed to complete the blocks and then send them off to us.
When I preordered on the first day, I had a feeling that if I'm lucky, I'll see my 3090 KP blocks by the start of 2022.
