It's too much lol. 40-62% higher price on 5090/4090 and 5080/4080S is nuts. I paid $1599 for a 4090. They want to just add $1K. Madness.

Yeah. I plan to wait until after the first few months to pick one up. Gotta see if the plugs are going to meltdown.

Looking like my 4090 will be my last top tier GPU with a 5090 costing $2600. I'm just not going to spend that much on a GPU. Not only that, but the games I play and at the FPS I typically run, (single player @ ~ 80 - 90 FPS) my 4090 doesn't get used to it's full ability as it is.

I will be skipping it, 30-37% increase over a 4090 is a lot yet it's not when you get DLAA+PT involved or move up to Super Ultrawide to 4k and yeet your graphical settings. I can play anything at 3440x1440 right now smoothly even with DLAA+PT enabled moving to a 5090 would not net me much with my settings I prefer. So it's the waiting game at this point.

Probably a smart idea. If the 5090 turns out the be $2599 expect the 6090 to be $3000 to $3500.

Maybe Jensen should take a pay cut on this one.... I will be watching to see what the hell he has in store at CES. I just built a new PC and was planning on upgrading my 4090 to a 5090 but I live in Canada and if the rumors are true and the 5090 will run north of $2600USD or even close to that, then the 4090 will be my last GPU.. My thoughts are what are all the scalpers going to do and are they even going to try and scalp these cause I think Jensen beat them all to the game.....lol. The census being most ppl don't want to pay for these cards MSRP.....then what do scalpers think they will do or price them....2%-5% mark up?

Frame generation will help you bypass the bottleneck.

Yeah, 4x frame generation is likely the only way the 5080 will even be as fast as the 4090 lol, let alone the 5070. I get that frame generation is kind of neat sometimes. The only game I've tried it in is CP2077 and it just feels weird to me. It doesn't double the FPS by any means and it makes it feel...floaty? I don't know how to describe it, but I wasn't a fan. Not sure doing 4x FG would be an improvement on that. For most games...it seems like you'd be limited to the other DLSS capabilities and if you just look at native or Native+RT, I don't think there's going to be huge gains from 4000-series to 5000-series. Maybe 20-40% depending on the title and if RT is used. I still don't think 5080 beats a 4090 (without MFG) and the only big jump in specs in the whole stack is the $2k 5090 that has a 575W rating. So that improvement is reeeeeeeeeally brute-forced lol. I'm not always opposed to that, personally, but I do start to wonder at what point I need to worry about what else is on the breaker with my gaming PC.

There's no node jump this time and we don't know how much power the 5090 is actually using in loads like that yet. Still a pretty good core and bandwidth increase though, as well as improved RT cores, so it's definitely possible the 5090 is another good jump forward, but I don't think it's as huge without the 4xFrame Gen. They seemed to put most of their eggs in that basket for this Gen. It's the only thing they marketed anyway and until they're in the wild that's all we have to go on. The only non-dlss/mfg game they gave data on showed about ~30% improvement. Also, the 20% # I used was from my overclocked score, trying to close most of the power gap and figured there'd still be improvement over that. I really don't think the rest of the lineup will be that impressive unless you like the 4x-frame Gen.

Saw this article with some leaked 3DMark scores. The leak gives the 5090 a Time Spy Extreme score of "24000+" and Speedway: "13500+". Stock scores for 4090 were ~19000 for Time Spy Extreme and ~9950 for Speedway. That's +26% for non-RT and about +35.7% for the RT benchmark. That's pretty much where I predicted lol. If you ignore MFG: it's +26 to 36% performance uplift for +25% price and +28% power. i.e. little to no change in performance/price from 4090. Edit: Same goes for perf/watt. Also, the article looks at the scores of overclocked 4090's (there's an update with stock scores) from 3DMark's hall of fame, indicating that the 5090 (assuming stock) is ~5.3% faster than one of the fastest 4090's ever in TSE and ~8% faster than the fastest 4090 in Speedway. The article stops there, but I was curious, so I looked at those stock 4090 numbers vs the fastest 3090ti scores...there was a ~30% increase in TSE and ~39% increase in Speedway from the fastest 3090ti to a stock 4090. That gets even more drastic when you consider the stock 4090 is likely running at lower power levels than those overclocked 3090ti's and you cannot say that for the stock 5090 vs overclocked 4090's. We still have to wait for real reviews (grains of salt required for leaks lol), but all the current information indicates that this is a generation for AI improvements, not aimed at gamers. The AI improvements can help with frame gen...but for most gaming purposes, it's just slight improvements over 4000-series.

Not good :(

B0baganoosh Saw this article with some leaked 3DMark scores. The leak gives the 5090 a Time Spy Extreme score of "24000+" and Speedway: "13500+". Not good :(
I see now why people are calling it the AI gen cards. Not a lot of raw power; just fake projection. It's like being in a running race and using a selfie stick to hold a picture of yourself 5 feet in front of you.
