Afterburner I have no idea what was in stock, I kept trying to get the FTW3 Ultra to show up and got the "Oops. EVGA Server seems to be having technical difficulties". SIGH............. Now on to another four or five days of seeing everyone post about it =]
FTW3 wasn't one of the cards to be stocked. That one is still coming up during the week.

Man, the last two times trying to order have been super frustrating. 17th I got all the way through card details and clicked “submit payment” to have the page crash and then go out of stock.
Today the confirm order page loaded without the “pay now” button rendering after refreshing 4 times to go out of stock again.
Glad people were able to get cards today.

AegisFLCL Not sure how people are ordering when the site is constantly down. Pretty frustrating seeing as both times I've had a card in my cart but once entering payment information site crashes, I get booted, and the items are removed from my cart. Seriously, how can orders go through like this?
A lot of bots are headless (no actual normal browser window) and/or use APIs, so they don't need to depend on what's visible, just on the data. This generally lets them far quicker than humans and better against website issues.

ty_ger07 Jacob tweets, and masses appear. Maybe it would be better if Jacob didn't tweet when cards will be in stock?
People have bots sniffing stock for various sites. EVGA is one of them. It wouldn't matter. It actually gives regular people a little bit of a heads up when he tells a few minutes early. Otherwise for the most part they may go up and out of stock with no one else knowing. It is better to be transparent as a company. Either way you'll have people who are unhappy.

I received a amazon notification for a ultra gaming. It was listed at 1,999.00, I laughed when it was gone on the refresh.

At least Amazon sent the notification. EVGA's email notifications still haven't gone out yet.

Apparently there's a bot specifically for EVGA's website, as it turns out, lol. Well, it'll eventually become riskier and riskier for botters because these cards aren't limited one-time drops like sneakers, so just wait it out and relax. It's obvious none of the retailers are really going to do anything smart like other industries that constantly deal with high demand (or like Apple) do, so eh we just have to wait until they make more and scalpers get scared of supply stripping their cornered market as a result.

Maybe EVGA should upgrade their 1992 servers from dial-up. Might help a little bit.

They sell scalable webhosting and backend services to other big businesses, and constantly deal with massive amounts of consumers - all online - on normal days, amazon prime day, black friday, etc. It's frustrating that they're the best choice for a stable website but the one that's always lagging back in availability. It was the same for the ryzen chips, lol. Even AMD's amazon page was bragging about how awesome they were but weren't sell any.

How’d you figure that? In my mind EVGA’s website just must be so terrible that it can’t even handle the blast of people trying to buy cards. Jacob’s tweet out just before the stock hit had a huge flurry of people trying to buy one.

As someone who has been F5ing every 15 minutes since launch day, and randomly stumbled across the restock - it was a bummer to find out it was tweeted about before. EVGA had to know it was going to crash their website and favor bots. Three things - 1) For the love of god, why no pre orders? EVGA would get their money quicker, and everyone else would just be happy knowing they have a spot in line. In the absence of preorders, 2) Why not send purchase codes out to those who wanted to be notified when stock re-ups? 3) Please lock our carts if we are able to add to cart. Any one of these would make this whole process much less painful.

Too much manpower for them to do that and bottom line as long as they get their money they don't really give a poop.

This whole experience has left a pretty foul taste in my mouth for both NVidia and EVGA. This is counter balanced by some of Jacob's patient promises about large amounts of stock constantly rolling in, and EVGA's awesome warranty and product design. But it's still starting to rub me the wrong way. Outside of EVGA's control, NVidia should have waited until they had large amounts of stock before announcing/releasing, rendering the scalpers virtually useless.

how is this effecting the people with step up requests in? I know some of those are getting close to the 90 days and that would be real bad pr if they got the wrong end of the bot coin per say

This entire launch is a fiasco and making me hate EVGA. Why the *REMOVED LANGUAGE* is Jacob tweeting about it???? Why are they NOT using the notify system through email??? EVGA is handling this in the worst way possible. Enough people are refreshing the page Jacob should NOT be tweeting.

Disagree. It is best EVGA remains transparent. Word will get out one way or another. It was posted in certain discords prior to his tweet. Also, seems their mail server is tied to the site. So site goes down, email server goes down, no notifications. They probably need to send out emails prior to posting for sale. Which just does the same thing.

There was some links on reddit to a sub talking about various groups that make these bots, where they casually talk about 3080s (along with PS5 preorders, sneakers, and other stuff). The group was celebrating success, blah blah. A member vouching for their service mentioned that they had an nvidia site bot and one specifically for EVGA, though mentioned he didn't know the EVGA bot's success rate. Anyway, take it all with a grain of salt, ofc, but as far as I know it's not like botting to scalp or selling them is illegal outside of tickets in most countries so it's not like they really need to hide what they're doing.

By the time you got the e-mail that the stock is in, you'd be already too late. Bots would have crashed the site by the time you got to it. If EVGA is vigilant about cancelling bot orders, this could be saved for additional restock this week while EVGA makes additional server upgrades and bot deterrence (which was applied today and honestly was better than the 17th on the sole fact I could see the cards were in stock, see the "Add to cart" button, and actually add one in before the site crashed; bad still, but better).
