Great job MOP!!

I'm going to agree with letting the "prize picker" choose the prizes per our selections, even if people end up with more than one prize.

Even though glorious MOP has crossed the line, I will continue to fold strong until eastern finishes, then reduced output until the end of the month.
I want to see the 3 billion goal, and I have surpassed my own previous month's best by such a huge amount...I want it to keep going!

Power bill is hurting my wallet and crunching challenges have begun, but they are CPU based so my folding isn't really affected.

Guns, welcome back, sir! My condolences and my families prayers and support go out to you, dude.

And thanks for agreeing to fight for the 3 Billion point line. I'm hoping to be able to keep on in there until the end of the month as well

  • The live drawing for prizes will be held soon after all teams have completed the 2015 Time Zone Challenge!
  • If you have not submitted your prize picks before the drawing, it will be impossible for us to give you a prize.  (Punchy's mind-reader tool is still in development )

At the moment its looking like ETZ will finish up on Thursday, what time of day (please use Eastern Time) would work best for people who want to watch the drawing process?  Per my schedule it would be anytime after 3 PM.

Thursday I will be very busy, so I will not be picking a time. I will check in as fast as I can after the work day though. Thanks for everything Troy8d, Punchy, and all you other beasts that helped make this possible.

It's unfortunate the points didn't go as well due to bad work units, but at least we are well on schedule for 3 billion.

if the drawing process results in my getting the 970, i say 3:01 pm EST. If not rigged for me to be a winner, then i assume will eventually get emails about choices or options about what to do?

I'll certainly keep going to help reach the 3 billion mark. My points contribution was low due to unforseen computer problems. I had to rebuild my system slightly ro fix. Cranking away now.

Go team.

I don't understand this. If you don't win the 970, you'll be waiting for PM's? Have you done the prize picker tool yet?

I think he was mostly joking, as he has selected a list of prizes in the picker, but to answer the second part of his question, after the drawing, the winners will be posted on this forum and they in turn should get in touch with the donors via PM.

I am the same way - I need 2 cups before I should even consider making a post. The drive to work usually perks me up - but not in a good way!
Oh and thanks Punchy!
I was just noticing that at this point in time the top 5 Central folders alone have surpassed 210 million - Eastern is still not there.
GO EASTERN!!

I was thinking the same thing.

After we cross the finish line I will be stopping folding until my meter is read, about the 24th or 25th. I will then come back with extra hardware blazing for the bid to 3 billion.

Once MOP reaches 200 Million I will be stopping to Fold for awhile.

If Stanford cannot correct the Problem with Core 21 P96xx and some P97xx Projects or Core 21 in General then I must pull out as I cannot afford the cost of wasted Electricity.

Sorry Team but Money is Money.

I don't blame you bcav.... for me it's been 2 weeks of total frustration and I'm maybe doing half of what you're doing. I'd like to thank you for pulling out all the stops and leading this MOP team by example.

I certainly understand your frustration and give you guys a lot of credit for sticking it out to the end.  I'm curious of either of you have lowered the P2 Memory speed using Nvidia Inspector as suggested by Grandpa in this thread here: http://forums.evga.com/35560-Last-Stable-Driver-m2411736-p2.aspx#2414485

I don't have the luxury of owning new enough hardware to try this out on but am very curious about the issue.

Yes for the last week.

One fix causes another failure and Core 21 (UNKNOWN_ENUM) just have to many issues.

Downclocking seems to only fix P9704 from what I am seeing BUT I still see "Bad State detected... attempting to resume from last good checkpoint" on P97xx Projects. This also re-starts the Project so it can take 3 times longer to complete and it still can fail at 100%.

And I also changed the PhysX to CPU and still no real help.

Yes I also used Nvidia Inspector to drop memory speeds a little over a week ago. I saw those other threads and gave it a try. Was running 6000mhz memory and stock core speed and was still losing wu's on my 980ti  and dropped my 970s down to 5400mhz memory and stock core and still had issues with "bad states and bad work units" but wasn't losing as many.

The first 3 days of the challenge was what I expected as far as performance. On day 4 is when the trouble started and for 11 days much frustration with bad states and bad work units. On day 15 things went back to somewhat normal, production wise, for me.

My theory is Stanford's servers were getting low on wu's and on Nov 4th they released a bunch of core 21 wu's that were not quite ready for prime time and we all got to do some testing for them. Older hardware seemed to handle these wu's ok but newer (970, 980 and 980ti) had issues. I've noticed when I get problem wu's my gpus run up to 10c hotter and pull over 100% TDP power consumption. I just got a Core 21 9205 project right now ( I've had problems with these) on my 980ti with memory running at P2 state 6600mhz, the core was at 75c and power consumption was 107% TDP and my desktop became very sluggish. I paused the wu and dropped memory speed to 6000mhz and restarted it. Temp now is at 70c and p c is at 93% TDP and desktop seems normal.

I've had issues with core 21 projects 9205, 9206, 9633, 9643, 9637 and 9628, there may be more but these I've noticed. Projects 9704, 9626 and 10495 have run pretty well on both of my machines.

Make no mistake, Stanford has their own agenda here and we all are just pawns in this. When folding is good, I fold. When folding is not so good, I shut down and wait a couple weeks and try again, it usually gets better. This isn't the first or last time we'll see bad projects. The big picture is we are helping to cure some nasty health issues and it is a great thing that we participate.

  • The prize drawing will take place Thursday 11/19 around 9 PM Eastern Time!    If you drop by at that time you'll be able to see the drawing take place, which will determine the order in which individuals pick their prizes (with Punchy's prize picker found here: http://forums.evga.com/2015-TZC-Prize-Preference-selection-process-m2413538.aspx ).  After that it will take 20-30 minutes to run the pick order through tool and double check them by hand.  The final list of who has won what will be posted on the contest site as soon as this process is complete.

You would think that Stanford would support their number One Folding Team, do you not think so a well?
If not for Extreme Overclocking we would not really know and also KakaoStats too.

No I don't. Like I said, Stanford has their own agenda. They are trying to get their work done. They need us to do it. When they drop support for older hardware people get upset. When they add support for newer hardware there always seems to be wrinkles, things don't always run smoothly, and people get upset. Core 21 has been around a while but it has never been as stable as previous cores. How many different generations and manufacturers of gpus are being used to fold? Nvidia and AMD-ATI don't build a specific driver to fold with. Everybody's not always going to have a smooth experience.

I don't mind the problems so much, it's the "it's not our problem" thing I keep hearing about that frustrates me, but then again, all that is second hand, perhaps I should check and see what they are saying directly.

What makes you think they'll even give you the time of day? Stanford doesn't care about anyone but Stanford and only provide the minimum support necessary to keep us folding for them.

I won't have to ask them anything, just see whats already been said, I know many here on the EVGA forums have very low expectations of standford, but I felt it best to see for myself, as it's quite doable for me to check there forums.

Deleting prior quotes that can be referred to in past posts would clean up the forum... A.. Lot.

The runon quotes are taking up a ton of extra space.
