But that is not the Default, I want to keep the Defaults (This is 99% of users) I did the same as you did. But I am not Testing the PhysX Settings. We want the Errors and the Bad State detected to show Stanford that their are issues with Core 21 and the GTX 9xx Graphics Cards.

bcavnaugh, I understand what you are trying to do... we all want a solution. After over 80 or more (stopped counting) Core 21's failed from the start of the TZC, kind of frustrating. Let me know how I can help, so we can get a resolution..

My understanding is this is mostly an 980 or some 970 Graphics Cards. No order cards have sown issue form what I have seem so far. Log files are what they need but they need all of the log file and they are very large. If you have Google Docs then you can post them and post the links here if you would like. I am not saying that this Thread will do any good for anyone so it is up to you. Are testing needs to be Out of Box so to say for real data to show.

I would DUMP Task to allow known BAD_WORK_UNIT to run but I will not do this to help speed up the troubleshooting. So it may take many hours or even Days to complete or be acknowledged by Stanford that their is an issue with Core 21 and some of their Projects.

I can give reference clocks a try too, I've been getting errors even with a -500 mhz clock to the memory, so I'll drop down the GPU clock as well to reference from SC. If it is unstable hardware, it seems to affect EVERY GTX 900 cards, so that's a problem for Standford, even if you blame Nvidia. Standford may just have to lessen the demand that the x21 core units put on the 900 gpus, or they'll keep getting bad work units, unless they want to wait for Nvidia to release a driver fix for it, or RMA every 900 series card with a different card that does have that problem (like older, less powerful cards) edit: OK, Core clock at reference for GTX 980 (1126mhz) and p2 memory Speed at -500mhz under reference, let's see how well that does over the next few days. Edit 2: PhysX also set to CPU, maybe all the partial fixes combined will help. edit 3: currently have a x21 WU 9206, (and two x18 that shouldn't cause problems) I'll be watching it.

Thanks, I is really SAD that we have to Reduce our Graphics Cards or Degrade our Graphics Cards (A Better Term) to be able to Fold. If I recall "unstable hardware" is what Stanford is saying is the primary reason why we are having so many issues with the GTX 9xx Cards.

memory clock is 7010mhz effective, or 3505mhz in monitoring software, Folding uses the p2 speed for memory, that's 6010mhz or 3005mhz in monitoring software. why it uses a lower "power level" for memory than say games do, I don't know, but it seems even that reduction isn't enough, I have my p2 memory speed down another 500/1000mhz to 2505mhz/5010mhz effective speed when folding. in other words, 2GHz less that if I was gaming.

This Clock Memory is still not clear. I have and test with 2640 MHz and they still failed. So I will then drop down to 2500 MHz and see on the Second Test Round. I want more Failed Projects at Default or Out of Box setting for Stanford to review.

I've been skimming the posts on these issues during the TZC. Is this problem mainly related to multi-gpu systems? I have a single 980ti with all settings geared toward gaming (always latest drivers, Gsync on, physics auto(gpu), with and without overclocks in place, 1490mHz, mem stock clock). Running almost 24/7 during the contest, I had only one WU fail where I paused it and then resumed while multitasking other programs.

z999z3mystorys got my first bad state detected project 9625 (1, 8, 65) after 3 of those I think it gives up.
Copy this part when it fails and post it here: Start one above the last "Bad State" and End at the Cleaning up. As below make sure you only have the one project like "WU05:FS02" and remove the rest. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Example ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// 22:12:02: WU05:FS02:0x21:Completed 100000 out of 2000000 steps (5%) 22:12:12: WU05:FS02:0x21:Bad State detected... attempting to resume from last good checkpoint 22:12:12: WU05:FS02:0x21:Max number of retries reached. Opolis I've been skimming the posts on these issues during the TZC.
Thanks for this, I believe that is the main reason to Disable SLI. The sad part is we have other members say No you do not need to Turn Off SLI when Folding. It needs to be Disabled/OFF when Folding or Crunching GPU Projects or Tasks. A note to remember about SLI Gaming and Folding. Gaming you want a Single Source Power House Running a Single Application or Game. In Folding you are running a Single Application Per GPU, so if you are Folding 2 GPUs you are Running to Separate Applications unlike running a Single Game. Bad-A-Game.exe to play this game. Under Folding and you have two GPUs and are Folding on Both Cards then you have; Fold.exe Fold.exe The same applies BOINC GPU Projects.

will do when/if it fails totally, only had detect a bad state and recover. though it seems these WU will fail regardless of what you do to baby your GPU.
