Alkar Cammer I have two PNY 580's in sli. The lowest frame rates that I get in bf3 range from mid 40's to low 50's(sometimes low 40's in back to karkand maps). Does this sound about right, or should my frame rate not be dropping below 60 at all? By the way, I'm on a 120hz monitor. Welcome to the EVGA forums I also run dual 580's in SLI Your minimum framerates, will all depend on what settings you are running and how strong your CPU is. Running 40's to 50's in Karkand would be quite normal if you are using HBAO -or- if your CPU is slightly underpowered. If you want you can post your config specs and settings details, and I could suggest settings to increase your framerates

Alkar Cammer My system specs: 2 GTX 580's PNY i7 960 processor @ 3.2 GHz 12GB ram Those framerates are about right for that config. Increasing your CPU to above 3.7ghz would help with minimum fps levels... *I would use the below settings for the best fps/quality balance with that config (all of them as shown)

If I had an i7 3770k processor.....or waited for the haswell generation, would my minimum frame rates in battlefield 3 on maximum settings be significantly better?

Not really, you might see "at best" 15-20fps.... That is the same fps gain you could get by turning off HBAO or lowering some other settings Dual 580's and a HT quad core (what you have) is just a great setup for BF3 I would just try and OC your CPU up to 3.7ghz or better, no real need to buy a different CPU and MB

I don't think i can overclock my cpu because I made the stupid mistake of buying an alienware a while back. I don't think it will let me into bios properly.

Hey Maniac, I've got a question for you. :) I've posted previously, but never mentioned this issue. I have a GTX 670 running a 1920 X 1080 resolution to my 46" Sony Bravia TV to play BF3. While I love this setup, I came to realize something recently. My FOV moved to 85 - and I never touched it. I think this is causing a "pixlation" issue with certain aspects of the game. Specifically the text chat window is not at optimum resolution and sometimes it is very difficult to read what this text box says. I'm sure this is effecting other aspects of the game and visuals too, and probably having a performance impact for me as well since I assume that my FOV is set too high. The reason I can tell something is wrong is because when I ALT+TAB out of the game and BF3 goes into Windowed mode, everything looks fine and the text box looks normal. My question to you Maniac, what should my FOV be set at for my resolution? Thanks so much for everything you do bro! -GvnrRick

Welcome to the EVGA forums Running a laptop with a 1.7GHz Quad and 460M your just really underpowered. Since there is no way to get any higher CPU clocks, the best you can do is adjust in-game settings. The NVCP should be completely at defaults. Please post what Nvidia driver you are currently using. Also, please post your exact BF3 in-game settings for review, and we will see if there is anything more we can do to improve your framerates.

Before reading ur graphics walkthrough, I had everything on LOW - 1920x1080, but right now, went that way: Texture: High Shadow: Low Effects: Low Mesh: Low Terrain quality: Low Terrain decoration: Medium AA deferred: OFF Post AA:Low Motion BLur: Off Anistropic Filtering: 8x Ambient Oclusion: Off Now, I've just reset Nvidia Settings to default, pre-setting it to performance. I'd like to know whther or not should I mess with the "RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit" BF3 function. Those are the pre-rendered frames by the CPU, right? Well, I thank you in advance for your help!

hey maniac, i really enjoy our meet last night in ts3. i just want to say u that all the tweaks u gave me makes the game almost with out stuttering, is just great. in the hole match, 1 to 3 stutters at most. but i would like to help me ones more :p .. the mouse movement feels fluid and smooth, but some times when i look at specific areas around my player, the feels is sluggish and every time above the 60fps, weird. edit: im gonna be on the ts3 in a few moments, hope u came up :p

The game use to stutter and freeze for me all the time. I run everything on ultimate and maxed all other settings with a GTX 570 super clocked I found it has nothing to do with on board Vram, I was running 4GB of system memory with windows 7 64bit and I did not think it was system memory because I always had about 1 GB free in system memory, however I could see the stalls and freezes were in sync with my HDD access, so I just purchased 8 GB of ram and have not had a single stall or freeze since and it only uses 500MB more ram that windows reports. I have another problem if I don't down clock my supper clock GTX 570 the game crashes to desktop after 30-60 minutes, so long as my card is running GPU 732mhz and memory 1900 the game wont crash, has anyone seen this on the GTX 5XX cards?

Many 500 series cards with "factory overclocks" exibit the crashing issue with BF3 Nvidia has put a "fix" into later driversets they say works, so what driver version are you using? For factory OC'd cards, running at downclocked stock speeds -or- adding voltage is the KNOWN fix for such crashing in BF3 (after other issues are ruled out)

306.97-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql What other issues should I try. I formatted my hard drive reinstalled everything. How much voltage should I try?

As you appear to be running your GTX 570 at the Ultra preset and max settings, this is most likley the cause of the crashing.... I suggest--> you adjust your settings to match your GTX 570 hardware performance levels. *Using the above settings should make your card MUCH less likely to crash Before I would add any voltage I would test with the above settings. If it still crashes, I would try a Custom install of 310.54 using the "Clean" install option.

I've asked a few questions here before but now i'm curious about something else, What SHOULD the average min fps be with my setup? i7 3770k @ 4.7 16GB DDR3-1333 SLI GTX 670 2GB's Running everything on Ultra minus Texture and Mesh and no MSAA I've seen it dip as low as 67 on 1920x180 on the aftermath maps, is that normal?

Yes, that would be about right for those settings

AlgyTRG hey maniac, i really enjoy our meet last night in ts3. i just want to say u that all the tweaks u gave me makes the game almost with out stuttering, is just great. in the hole match, 1 to 3 stutters at most. but i would like to help me ones more :p .. the mouse movement feels fluid and smooth, but some times when i look at specific areas around my player, the feels is sluggish and every time above the 60fps, weird. edit: im gonna be on the ts3 in a few moments, hope u came up :p i quote my self. last nigh i was on the ts3, but u didnt come :p, no problem at all :) im searching for the best experience in game, to make a final solution for that sluggish movements on a specific areas (the wave of the cpu start going up and down, no spikes, but the waves has more frecuency and amplitude) so what would u recommend me to do? -put on high, instead of ultra, the terrain quality that u set me the other night -i saw that tripple buffering is on by default in game, i need to turn it off? should i force it from the nvidia CP? remember i dont use vsync -tweaking the forceaheadlimit of the frames? should i touch it from the nvidia CP? - and another question about HPET, u suggest that i turn in on or off in bios? thanks maniac ;)

Hello all, maniacvvv already knows and i already opened thread about my problem, but i will post here too, maybe more people looks here. Anyway i am having problem with cpu spike, and according to google, i am not only one. GPU line is flat solid, almost always at 15-20ms, but cpu randomly jumps to 30-35ms, even on all setting on low and 800x600 res. I tried ton of fixes, like max prerendering frames, others Nvdia drivers, even deleting entire game and dowloading it again(this seemed to helped, before there was spike to up to 60ms, now to about 30-35ms, same setting) updating DX files, running gpu on stock, lowering ram speed to 1600 Mhz. It happens both in single and multiplayer, others games/benches works fine. Only thing i have left is OS reinstall. Please if anyone can help me/give me more suggestions i will greatly appreciate, this problem suddenly appeared. All temps are normal, cpu at about 60-65C, GPU at 65C. Best regards. System specs: Intel i5 3570K @ 4.5 GHz G Skill sniper 2133 MHz Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Gigabyte GTX 670 WF3 Intel 320 160GB SSD SilverStone Strider 1000W Gold Samsung P2370.

As we troubleshooted in your other thread http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1810873 Your performance issues almost vanished when the correct settings were used. Turn OFF the in game performance monitor. This is used as a DEV tool to indicate engine overhead and graphics performance. *No matter what config or graphics card, you WILL see CPU spikes all the time as this is what is required to run the game. As you describe the spikes, they are completely normal. Your primary issue appears now to be the nature of online multiplayer and the effects server performance, your internet connection and the connections/framerates of other players.
