Several bug fixes and compatibility improvements. BIOS Updates for E699 DARK K|NGP|N (2.13) / E698 Classified (2.12)- Fixes Non-K CPU can't boot into OS with BCLK OC.
- Fixes AMD EXPO module detection issue.
- Adds DDR5 24GB module support
- Fixes RTX 4090 driver compatibility issue.
Windows Installation- Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
121-AL-E699-KR - EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N - v2.13 121-AL-E698-KR - EVGA Z690 CLASSIFIED - v2.12- First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Close all open programs.
- Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
- Press Y to start the flash process
- DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
- After the flash is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Power on the system again and go into BIOS and adjust settings as needed.
- NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be run from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.
BIOS Installation within BIOS
- Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
- Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
- From the BIOS, navigate to the EXTRAS tab at the upper left and click on "BIOS Update"
- Select the .bin file you wish to flash.
BIOS Installation Without CPU
- Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
- Rename the file "EVGAE6XX.bin", where XX is the last two digits of the part number (e.g. Z690 DARK K|NGP|N should be EVGAE699.bin)
- In the case of the Z690 DARK K|NGP|N, if EVGAE699.bin doesn't work, please try EVGAE690.bin
- Install the USB flash drive into the USB Type-A port on the motherboard.
- Make sure to connect the 24pin power connector from your power supply to the motherboard.
- Switch on the power supply, if it is not already on.
- Hold the BIOS Update button on the rear I/O for approximately 2 seconds until the flash begins (the cursor on the POST LED will begin cycling)
- The BIOS update may take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete. When done, the board will restart.
- Complete the rest of your build at this point to confirm a successful flash.
Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update. Thanks! Also, earlier BIOS files for each board can be found on our Download Center.

Updated on my classy and applied the same OC I had previously on my 13900ks and same DDR5 settings. Benchmarks & temps are on par. But the big news (for me at least) is that I flashed and I a) did not have to reenter my PIN and b) didn't have to jump through any activation hoops. So far, so good. Thanks guys!

Was the team able to replicate stability issues in 2.10, 2.11(internal bios) and 2.12 (internal bios)? These change logs are really small… for the Dark z690

The engineering side of change logs is always significantly longer than what we post here. For example, the S3 resume from sleep issue is also fixed with this version, but wasn't provided as part of the official change log. Sometimes, this is all I get for a change log to post, even if there are extra things that may have been worked on.

Any plans to have an SP silicon rating like Asus on EVGA motherboards? I know it’s not 100% accurate but it does give an exciting feature for over clockers. It gives us an opportunity to know if we won CPU lottery or not.

Haven't heard any plans, but why does this sound like ASIC numbers from the 900 Series....

Hello, is the team aware of slight overheating (overvoltage?) issues on bios 2.10+ or so? I remember some people on the 2.10 bios thread had the similar issues as me. I'm gonna try to roll back and see if I can elaborate. Edit: I tested 2.06/2.10/2.13 on a 13700k/Z690 Kingpin Not my best benchmarks but 2.06 runs significantly cooler, especially on idle. (Measurements taken after letting Windows cool down for a few minutes) On auto settings for all BIOSes, 2.06 runs 14 degrees C cooler avg vs 2.10. BIOS 2.13 also seems to overheat like 2.10. On locked clocks (same voltage & clocks between BIOSes) 2.06 runs 8 degrees C avg cooler on idle. I saw smallest differences in locked stress tests, but 2.06 seems to run 2 or so degrees cooler on avg. Hope this helps.

Would be a nice feature to add to the kingpin ones. Really miss that from my z690 apex board to know if I got a good chip

Just installed 2.12 and I am happy to report everything is going great! After having issues with 2.09 with getting BSOD into windows and having to revert back to 2.08, 2.12 seems to be working very smooth. I applied same overclocks as before without any issues. No issues with windows activation but did have to reset my pin, no big deal. Thanks EVGA team! Also as a nice plus sleep state is now working :)

Have you checked how much wattage your CPU is pulling with each bios? Because I'm thinking it has to do with the unlimited power limit that was incorporated.

Intel microcode was updated in later Bios which raised VID so some increase is to be expected and that's on intel. You can try selecting the older microcode in the bios and see if you have any luck with that. However there is still an excess power consumption issue with the dark boards regardless of power limits.

You got lucky then. I had to enter my Microsoft password to get back into Windows still. Came from 2.09 as well.

@Lee So I figured I update my 3rd. Bios with the .13 update since i had some problems with one of the Ram Modules I bought 2.08 and 2.10 did not read the V-Color (SK Hynix) 7200 Ram and at first I thought maybe a bad module since it didn't read one. So I got a replacement sent and the same thing happen. All other Ram modules where fine. Thanks to 2.13 the V-color set is working great. I can send some modules back, and save some money. Thanks for all the work you guys do.

I can confirm that the wake up from S3 is no longer an issue with the XMP profiles applied on 2.12, rock solid as of right now. Thanks for the quick fix @EVGA_Lee!

Having switched from Asus to EVGA I can say I’m super happy so far. A few things are missing though..
Minimum and maximum ring clock is not present and it just appears to be a single ring clock setting overall in the EVGA.
TVB appears to only work per core and is not configurable by how many cores are actually in use.
These features (among others) go a long way towards optimizing dynamic overclocks but I can’t seem to find a way around these. I’m either not seeing them or they’re just not there.
Here’s to hoping for some additional expanded functionality :-)

48GB modules have not been tested on our end to my knowledge. Our MB team thinks they should work with the latest BIOS, but we can't guarantee compatibility at this time.

I want an option where I can run the cpu default clocks on the cpu cores with boost enabled, but ring/cache adjustment only as an unlock. Sometimes I need to run stock and just push cache higher for heavier work loads. Asus lets your cache clocks adjusted without touching all core clocks at all. Core clocks can be left at auto.. still room for improvement for the team. Oh and a bin mode/SP rating like Asus.
