I think there's still a v/f points bug in this bios. I was able to confirm that if you set several points at different settings, it only takes the highest frequency one you set. For example, if I set 5100 and 5400 at -35 and 5800 at -10, it applies -10 at all frequencies. HWiNFO64 was actively showing the offset concurrently with the frequency, and even looking at the min/max columns showed that it only ever did -10 even if you hit it with a heavy workload. The lower frequency settings never seemed to take if you give it an offset for higher frequencies.

I can see if I set 5400 and 5700 at -30 but leave all the higher ones at 0, the offset will trigger at the correct frequencies. It does not, at least as far as HWiNFO64 shows, do a linear curve-fit between different points or outside those points. It just does a global offset between the two. I tried to check this by setting one at -25 and the other at -35. I believe it did -35 or no offset with that setting (only applying the offset from the highest altered v/f point).

6Q6CPFHPBPCU691 is a discount code anyone can use.

At least they will release a new BIOS for the new intel CPU's in the near future for z690 as well
https://www.reddit.com/r/...intel_support_planned/

my guess that 14gen will work even on 2.13 bios
cuz it has same silicon as 13gen and same steping and ext model/family
this is just more refined 13gen

It absolutely won't work without a new bios. Yes, the CPU will physically fit but it has different microcode.

I ordered Kingpin Z690 from Newegg. Do you know if the motherboard already has some bios version supporting 13900k preinstalled?

Thanks.

Cannot answer your question, but you can install the latest bios without installing CPU or RAM on the system.  Follow the SPI detailed procedure.

im pretty sure the lithography goes beyond that, it isnt just a more refined cpu, with different microcode.

14900K up and running on my Z690 Dark with BIOS 2.13

Clocks, boosting to 6Ghz all appear to be working fine. BIOS recognizes the CPU properly as 14900K.

Edit: Unfortunately when testing the CPU it does not perform as it should or how it performs in my Z790 Apex with proper BIOS support. This same CPU in my Z790 Apex when locked at 253w and undervolted will boost to 5.5Ghz all core and 4.2/4.3 E cores and score over 40K in CB23. When used in the Z690 Dark, when clamped with same Intel limit of 253w and undervolted, it will only boost to around 5.0-5.1 and 4.0 on E cores and scores around 37K. If I attempt to further undervolt the test will fail, crash or log WHEA errors.

There are clearly missing V/F optimizations that are missing from this BIOS that other boards have with proper support. I would not put a 14900K in this board and expect proper functionality until EVGA address this issue.

What eVGA did is the world-class BS. Some people spent up to $800 for these boards and then had no proper support for them. It smells to me like a lawsuit case.

it is pretty wild that there still isn't an update for 14th gen.  I paid $829 for the z690 board at launch lol

I would upgrade to the 14700 or 14900 but i'm not ripping apart my machine for a new mobo and am especially pleased I passed on the 790.

Well, none of the board specifications or marketing indicate that they will ever support future generations (which 14th gen is from the time of motherboard-release). The only thing you'd have to go on is that there were EVGA staff members who came in here and said they were working on it. I don't recall them ever giving a timeline or saying it was definitely going to release, just that they were working on it. I think with them saying they were working on it, I'd be furious too if I read that and went out to buy a 14th gen CPU, but I don't see a lawsuit having any luck given the lack of specific promises/guarantees...

That's the problem.  EVGA makes vague statements to mislead buyers, and to protect or drive up sales, but don't provide enough specifics to be held accountable legally.

Since eVga dropped the ball on this I replaced Z690 Dark with Z790 Gigabyte Tachyon and I am on DDR5 8200 with no problems. I would like to know what kind of sorcery settings you need on Z690 Dark to pass 7400. Obviously, CPU has no problem running the same memory DDR5 at 8000 overclocked to 8200 / low latency tuned.

So you have bios version 2.08 with 14900k on Z690 Dark? Am I missing something here? How did you get 8200 working on this board? My 13900k cannot pass 7400 with DDR5 8000 Sticks and yet it does fine 8200 on Gigabyte Tachyon? Again, am I missing something?

I had 13900K. I recently sold it and bought a 14900K. The bios version did not change. I had to reset the settings, because the mother did not start and offered to boot into bios. For 13900k memory, the maximum that could be 8000. On the new processor, I should be even at 8400. But I didn't get to that point. I will try when I have a spare hour. I have never had products from EVGA before. I am delighted with the Z690. Sincerely, Yuriy. Sorry for my English.

So just curious if others are seeing similar issues here. I originally bought the z690 kingpin when I bought my 12900k basically a few months after release. I then upgraded to the 13900k and went to bios 2.01 I believe (i think that was the raptor lake release). I just reassembled my build with new custom loop and was using the 2.01 bios, I installed some new tforce 7200 sticks and enabled xmp and for the most part it worked. I have been messing with all sorts of settings (Rgb, flow meter alarming, fan control etc) and installed the latest bios, the 2.13 to get the smart fan stuff in Eleet. Well it feels like the memory is less stable on this release. Is that common? Should I go back to a different bios? I can't confirm without some testing, but I am pretty sure on BIOS 2.01 that the the XMP for this memory just worked (was able to play games etc) and now I am downclocking to get it to work. I haven't tweaked memory settings yet really but it seems like maybe the BIOS revisions are getting less stable as maybe EVGA's teams are getting smaller?

There may have been voltage adjustments between versions and you may need to make changes to find stability. You can also try to flash 2.01 to a different bios switch position and then check to see if it actually is stable. If so, see what voltages everything was running at and then try to replicate that in the newer bios. It's also possible you were on the hairy edge or only stable in certain games, but would have see crashes elsewhere.

Ok, sounds good. I was just curious if others were seeing any changes in stability. Seems like others have seen other mobo's have better stability but this mobo has been out A LONG time so I am not surprised other z790 boards have better stability. I will start tweaking RAM to see what can be done.

    Quick question for anyone -

New to boards with multiple bioses.  I currently have BIOS 2 active on the switch rocker and updated to 2.12.  Curious when flashing BIOS, does it update all three bioses or just the active one?

Not for your current hardware. If you wanted to go to 4000-series Nvidia cards I would say yes. There was an update that fixed some issues there.

No, i don't want to upgrade to 4000-series Nvidia cards. 3080 Ti is very good, because it's a EVGA!
