I recently installed a fresh windows 10 and my fan has been ramping up with low temps around 35C I remember i had to do something to to fix this before I have forgotten what it was as the fans really do not need to ramp up at all as was the case for so many years.

bios 1.08
precisionx mobile installed but the fan control is greyed out.
no fan control or fan curve option in bios.

any help much appreciated.

Sounds like you need to reinstall the older bios.

He can also unlock the hidden BIOS options. There's a tab for custom fan controls which has 5 or 6 stages for ramping up speeds in higher temps. This is based on my personal experience with the older SC17 980m, BIOS version 1.08; if anyone has done this with the 1070 model they might be able to provide more info on it.

The fan control button is grayed out while using a BIOS OC Profile (Normal, Superclocked, or Custom). But, if you create a new Custom Windows profile in PrecisionX Mobile (on the left by selecting Custom1, for example), the fan control button becomes available. Just set up Custom1 to be the same as your preferred BIOS OC profile, click apply, and then click the fan control button. Create a fan profile, but the fan profile is forgotten each time the laptop restarts. Shame.

Hello,
Do you have a guide to custom the 1.0.7 bios correctly?
Thanks

I just wrote a post about unlocking the BIOS for SC15 v1.06 and it should be applicable to SC17 v1.07.

The fan curve control will be under "Advanced" once "Hide Item" is switched off.

I personally think EVGA did a damn good job on the SC17 GTX 980m all around beast of a unit it has never skipped a beat in the 6 years I have been running it and it looks as good as new. If they where to put out another laptop I would be first in line to purchase it.

Mine w/ a 980m is still kicking as well. Just keeping an eye on the battery (swelling, etc.) and so far so (still) good. :)
