Glad things are finally getting better for some :) Unless they release new content soon , I don't even bother playing it anymore. Guess it almost a habit now to check this thread and post drivers and such from all the time I did spend before. I haven't played this game since before Xmas lol.

Took the words out of my mouth dude. TBH I've found more fun tweaking to make it work ;) haha

Does anyone has a glitch with volumetrics and lightning? When I move the camera I can see the light and the volumetrics moving with the camera this is particularly more noticeable inside buildings, it "fixes" it self if I stop moving the camera meaning that the light and volumetric return to their correct position. This only occurs with SLI of I disable it and use Vulkan or use DX12 the behavior is the expected meaning that they don't move with the camera.

Hope I'm explaining the issue clearly.

Thanks.

I'm having some trouble getting my 1080ti's to work in sli.  Currently using the 441.99 beta and it runs 1 card perfectly.  I've tried every driver since the game release.  As soon as I turn on sli im stuck at 30fps and constantly getting the err_gfx_state error.  Are you guys using a specific profile or the generic installed with the latest driver?  Right now I'm using the driver installed profile but I've tried a few of the past suggested in other forums.  All without luck.  Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds very weird, have 1080Ti SLI and run RDR2 at 1440p@60fps with everything on ultra except water simulation on half. 441.99 Nvidia drivers. SLI profile from the box.
Have no idea how to help you, dude. What steps did you take to counter your problems?

There are lots of information in this thread. you can browse through the pages. But I gave up on trying to make it work on 1080 Ti's and just settled with DX12 for now. Unless they properly fix SLI "Nvidia / Rockstar" I am not going to bother trying to make SLI work.

SlI runs decent with 1080ti / 2080tis in VULKAN only if you disable Gsync. DX12 uses single gpu but also utilizes gsync so for me, its a smoother experience.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2: SLI Support 2020/01/25 10:20:37 (permalink)
I finally got my 1070s to run the game in SLI with near perfect 60fps at 1440p in vulkan, but there's a strange new problem now. I can launch the game and everything will be fine until a cutscene occurs. Any cutscene will flicker like hell and cause everything to flicker and stutter horribly after it occurs. I've tried disabling threaded optimization, disabling VSYNC, switching from displayport to HDMI, verifying files, reinstalling the game, I also reinstalled windows recently, and rolling back drivers to various older versions. nothing has worked. Switching the max frame rate from 60 to 30 and back again fixes it for a few minutes, but it just comes back on its own. The only way to fix it is to restart the game, after which any cutscene will once again trigger the problem. Running with one GPU obviously fixes the problem, but doesn't run nearly as well. This is the last hurdle I have to hop before finally being able to play this game properly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :).

So my problem is with TAA enabled it cuts my fps in half. Without it everything looks grainy and has a slight unattractive shimmer to it.

You're saying that without it, you have problems in addition to aliasing?

Man, nothing I do can get this game running in Vulkan, not even the benchmark test (loading screen and music, then black screen with no audio until I click the mouse multiple times and Windows then recognizes that the game isn't responding).

DX12 works, albeit averaging 38FPS since the game devs didn't implement MGPU.

Hardware Unboxed Part 1 and 2 recommended settings
441.99
1080Ti SLI
HDR TV, but HDR off or on in windows doesn't change black screen issue
3840x2160 or 1920x1080 (fullscreen or windowed borderless)
Stereo or surround sound (spacial sound isn't enabled)
Windows 1809 latest updates
verified game files, although sometimes the launcher reports non standard files?

UPDATE:

Rockstar chat support just got done telling me that Windows 10 1909 is REQUIRED to run Red Dead Redemption 2. Yeah, sure, I'll believe that (no, not really). They lost my business forever. Got this game about 2 weeks ago, haven't been able to play it since day 1 due to launcher crashes and this black screen issue (although today I FINALLY got DX12 running after hours of messing with settings). Good bye, good riddance.

UPDATE 2:

Windows upgraded to 1909, same issue. Imagine. My. Shock.

Without aa I get twice the fps but it doesnt look good. Running 1 card with dx12 gets me just about the same fps but with aa.

441.97 is what eventually fixed this same issue for me (on 441.99 now). In GPU-Z Advanced->Vulkan, what Version does it show? I was finding that despite installing the latest Vulkan API the regular Nvidia drivers were using their own version.. but that should be fixed by the beta driver.

Been keeping an eye on this thread over the past few months as I too have not bothered playing RDR2 in hopes of a fix. Really hoping this latest driver fixes the issues, or at least most of them. If anyone can report, please do. Otherwise I’ll try later tonight.

I figured that is what you meant that why I answered both questions lol. I have 2 of them and not a single issues out of either one, son has one also and no dead pixels or issues and have had hmm let see 4 or 5 months Id say. I iknow one of the reviews on amazon the guy said he got last years model when paid for this years but im sure he got someones swap out lol. They are also about to release a new model that has more curve to it not sure on the date though. It looks pretty cool actually. So if your thinking of getting one might want to hold out for this one suppose to hit sometime this year. But yes 1200 I have seen Samsung put them on sale at times after I bought mine for 300 off at 999 so might want to check now and then. But yes best Super Ultra wide there is with HDR1000 granted it could more lighting zone for HDR but until that tech comes down from 2-3k this is the best SUW there is. Also to be able to have either 2x 16:9 displays or a 3440x1440 and a smaller one on the side does come in handy. I have my laptop connected by HDMI and have had a 3440 display and a Collectors Map for RDR on the other side or having laptop doing some importing for work while gaming on other side :)

I know when it did it for me I kept hitting **** tab and windows key over and over and it finally loaded in for me then never had anymore issues after using borderless window mode. I take it you tried changing those 2 lines that was posted awhile back also and no luck with that either? Also using Gsync or no Gsync?

I know when it did it for me I kept hitting **** tab and windows key over and over and it finally loaded in for me then never had anymore issues after using borderless window mode. I take it you tried changing those 2 lines that was posted awhile back also and no luck with that either? Also using Gsync or no Gsync?

Two lines? This is what I've found combing the thread for the past few pages - it is already set to false, as HDR is disabled in windows:

<transferQueuesEnabled value="false" />  to <transferQueuesEnabled value="true" />

Turn HDR on even though it's disabled in windows? I'm running RGB full (windows/Nvidia HDR looks like poop comparatively) and don't think that will work...but I can give it a shot.

Non-gsync (TV via HDMI), HDR turned off in windows (or on, still back screen and no sound after loading screens, waiting 5 minutes still the same, click mouse button repeatedly has windows recognize that the game isn't responding)

Does it work with vulkan when sli is disabled or is it just vulkan entirely ? I may be wrong but sounds like it cant figure out what res/refresh since your using a TV but if it work with SLI disabled with Vulkan I may be wrong lol. Have you tried setting a res/rfresh in the settings file? I only used a TV very little. When I get off work I can connect my system to a Tv and see if I can recreate the issues and figure out what the problem is.

Did a clean install of 442.19 and played for about a half hour last night. I didn’t have any crashes, flickering, and the game seemed to run much smoother overall. This was with g sync on, full screen, Vulkan, using hardware unboxed settings. Sounds promising but I don’t want to say everything is fixed until I have the time to put in a solid couple hour session.

It amazes me that a game like Zombie Army just released today and SLI works in DX12 and in Vulkan, also HDR works fine in DX12 but not Vulkan. Then you have RDR that runs like crap and half ass works and Zombie runs so freaking fast that its to fast to even play it lol.
