Here are my results with the latest patch (2080 NVLink, 3900X, 32GB RAM, trying to play at 4k 60fps with VSync):

Flickering of sky, snow, grass, is gone. However, I cannot get this game to be smooth, regardless of the settings. For me, the game is only smooth when I have a large GPU headroom. If my fps without VSync is too close to 60, I will get stutters when enabling VSync. I even tried running at half sync, which my system is more than capable of doing, and the game still stutters some times. If I try to run at normal balanced settings, that means the game will feel like 20fps even though the frame counter says 60, because of very inconsistent frame times. In fact, the game feels smoother (or at least more consistent) when using only one GPU, in DX12. This defeats the entire purpose of multi-gpu... I don't want higher numbers, I want smooth gameplay!

Also, the game crashes almost every time I change one of the following settings: Resolution, VSync, triple buffering, TAA, TAA Sharpening, Resolution scale. But only when using Vulkan. I spent like 4 hours yesterday tweaking the settings, mostly because of that...

Are you playing on your main display(focus display in Nvidia control panel)? Asking it coz when I play on focus display (27" QHD) fps are very smooth and I don't feel stuttering BUT when I switch to my 32" 4k monitor I get around 45 fps that feels like 25-30 fps because of stuttering. I have noticed that those stutters feel less when I stare at on my feets rather than stare at distant perspective, maybe it is SLI bandwidth limitations?
That's said, when I switch my focus display to 32" 4k and perform complete system restart those 45-50 fps feel as smooth as it should be.

When I play on my 4k display (TV) I disable every other display, so it becomes my main. Now that you mention it, the game feels way smoother when I play on my 1440p monitor, so it may be a bandwidth problem indeed. I haven't tried restarting the PC when switching display configurations though.

I am getting the "Unknown error: FFFFFFFF" thing now so I am reinstalling... God that game is such a mess... Can't believe I'm spending so much time trying to make it work properly. Maybe I should just play it on Xbox now that it's in game pass...

Okay I tried rebooting after display configuration change and it didn't change anything.

I am trying to understand how resolution scale works. Is setting 0.5x when running at 4k rendering at 1080p?

I tried different configurations:
- 4k output with 100% scale: stutters a lot
- 4k output with 50% scale: stutters a little bit
- 1080p output with 100% scale: no stutters
- 1080p output with 200% scale: no stutters

That's a bit weird, right?

Most probably, yes

- 1080p output with 200% scale: no stutters

Are you sure those were stuttering? I mean, that might just be "lower than 60 fps" effect while it feels like stuttering. I felt significant difference playing on a primary display vs. secondary display. I had very comfortable 60 fps with 80% render scale on my 4k monitor (remember, after making it focus display and complete system restart), while there were FPS dips here and there I had no stuttering, at least it seemed that way.

Any of you guys still experience flickering with multiple GPUs on Vulkan when you're in towns where there are buildings? This game is almost perfect now, except for this...

Yes I am pretty sure. FPS stays locked at 60. The stutters feel like a huge inconsistency in frame times. Very noticeable when rotating the camera. It really ends up feeling like less than 30 even though the counter stays at 60.

It doesn't happen all the time, it can be smooth 60 for 10 seconds, then stutter for one or two seconds, etc.

Maybe I'll just give up on SLI and 4k60... It's a shame, the game looks really good at native 4k locked 60fps...

I did not pay attention to that. Flickering happens very rarely after a couple of updates, sometimes while panning or zooming the map, areas that were not explored yet, flicker a bit. That's at lease my observations.

I know that feel bro, sometimes you just... *wipes a tear*, you just let it go.
That's why I'm sticking with my QHD monitor for this particular game.

Okay so I think I am beginning to understand the stutters. The game seems to be using some kind of alternated frame rendering, because when I turn on the MSI afterburner overlay, it is only displayed one every two frames.

When the game doesn't stutter, the overlay consistently appears slightly transparent. When the game stutters, the overlay alternates between opaque (like in a normal game) and not appearing at all.

Here are some videos:

I don't know much about rendering, but maybe that means that the game is simply throwing away some frames instead of displaying them? Is that a frame pacing issue?

EDIT: I don't know why but my links get removed, so you just have to take my word for it...

A little bit yeah, but it is intermittent and far less annoying than the sky and water flickering triggered by cutscenes which was prevalent before the April 2 patch.

My only real issue now is with the pause menu crash, although the game still does crash at random from time to time.

I have played the game every night for the last week, and had have no flickering. But tonight when I played the game, the flickering and some weird very very small dots were on the screen. I just started chapter 3. I have done the first two missions, I noticed it with “Dutch” mission. That’s the mission I did tonight.

Edit: I run SLI.

From what you describe, the "transparent" appearance sounds like exactly what you would see if the counter was being displayed every other frame, and the framerate was consistent (and high enough). It's similar to the effect of rotating fan or helicopter blades.

On the contrary, if a stutter occurs such that a frame takes significantly longer to render, your eyes would be able to briefly distinguish the counter (or its absence). It would be the same if the framerate were consistent, but say only ~10 fps or less. You would be able to clearly perceive the blinking.

OK, something must have happen in the last couple of days .. the flickering is back again. And its terrible.

I have 2 monitors, one regular 1080p and one 3440x1440p. The 1440p monitor is my main display and gsync is turned on. Any suggestions on what I can do?

As I stated 2 post over here, I just started chapter 3 and have rided to saint denise on my own initiative to see if the flickering was worse or better there.. It was much worse..

Hello guys,

I guess i have a different kind of graphic issue, maybe someone here has a workaround... I followed this post since the release and i don't wanted to play the game until there is properly working SLI which seems most of you got working already. The major flickering most had in the beginning has gone and SLI is working and not even that bad. But now i got a 'new?' problem (screenshots attached). My settings for these pics are all set to maximum except TAA, FXAA and SMAA all disabled. The second screen shows the same settings just with TAA enabled which helped already getting rid of the major flickering before. I tested this on my 3 different monitors and even with just one card, so it doesn't seem to be a SLI depending problem i guess? Does anyone know the bug and got any tips?

Specs: I9 9900K 3,6Ghz
32GB 3200Hz
2x 1080TI Asus OC
game running on Samsung 860 evo

Hope you guys can understand everything... :D. Please reply if there are any more questions or solutions

Greetings!

Hmm, maybe you didn't paste the profile into sli profiles file correctly. If you add to many spaces in the file it won't load it.

I also tried using "Geforce 3D Profile Manager.exe" as well with no luck.  Same problem.  I read an article that exporting and importing all driver profiles to .txt format using nvidia inspector stopped working after a certain nvidia driver version - https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/geforce-sli-profile-tool-no-longer-works-fully-with-the-v337-50-driver.388356/.  What driver version are you using?

Thats what i thought originally but that is not the case.  Again i tested just exporting all driver profiles and then importing it without modifying anything and i still get the same message.

I didn't use inspector. I use the Geforce 3D Profile Manager. There is a 445.75 driver that got removed by nvidia...

I am using the Geforce 3D Profile Manager as well.  where do you have it installed on your hard drive? do you run it in the root of C:?

Sajin i cannot find that driver anywhere online.  Been looking.  it must be why you are able to import driver profiles as .txt format still.

Are you able to provide a way for me to download it from you?
