Fifth day of no crashes. Hours of play. Currently online also and been on for 4+ hours. Seems my method is working y'all

- New Nvidia driver (https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver)
- BAT file that auto deletes the SGA files (I dont think is needed)
- Arguments in Launcher (-ignorepipelinecache -cpuLoadRebalancing -processPriorityClass HIGH_PRIORITY_CLASS)
- NVInspector - only things changed are
GPUs to use on SLI rendering mode = TWO
NV predefined number of GPUS to use on SLI - both set to FOUR
Nothing else changed
- Launcher and game ADMIN mode
- Stock clocks on 2 x 2080Tis
- Tessellation set to LOW
- TAA set to MEDIUM (otherwise looks crap)

It seems to work more consistently for people with RTX cards, I have 2x1080Tis and the game won't even launch if I have SLI enabled in the control panel. I have raised 2 tickets and all I've been told is that other users have reported the issue and they are looking into it but no time window for a fix.

I honestly believe it would be a gamble right now if you buy it, maybe you get lucky and it works.

So, I've been able to play on the latest non-beta Nvidia drivers too with zero crashing, not having to delete SGA files with a +140/+1000 overclock on my cards, until I turn on HDR. As SOON as I try playing in HDR on SLI, the ERR_GFX_STATE errors begin flying at my face. Are you able to play with HDR?
Also, setting any GPU SLI rendering mode settings in the profile inspector won't do anything as I'm pret.... fairly certain the game uses Vulkan mGPU

Thank you, Dantrigger. I'd rather buy another game in that case. I've heard Dayz is decent now after the release. Time to check it out. It's a shame though, I've been waiting for a western themed game for a long time now.

Fair. I was scared to change things in case I messed it up again. Once I locked this in I was like "DONT TOUCH IT" lol. Just giving advice

Question: what frametime are you getting cracking it to ULTRA?

Vulkan, 4k with SLI gtx 1070 & Ryzen 3700x. My frametime is jumping like crazy, 30 fps looks like 15. With DX12 I dont have problem like this. Does anyone know how to fix it?

I found a solution to my problem with unstable frametime. In order for frametime not to jump like crazy, you need to limit the fps in the game to the level below which the fps will not fall on your system. In my case, the game fps does not fall below 40 fps, so I put in RiveTuner limit of 40 fps, and because of this frametime became stable and 40 fps began to look like 40 fps. Thanks to everyone for help, I hope my solution will help at least one of you :)

what I really concern about is the flashing/fickering of fog-scene/cutscene and flame-time issues, why U guys always worried about the ERR-ERROR which most of the sli players never meet?  All of my fellows who is sli users including myself never count those ERR problems under the 441.66 Nv‘s driver...So did the beta-driver with the vulkcan improvement solve the problem yet?

Running the latest driver with my 1080ti SLI and I cant even get into the game unless i disable Gsync in NVCP. Also, my frame times are all over the place, specially in camp.

Another annoying bug with SLI happens in puddles of water and in shallow waters in general.

It seems like the water foam is glitchy. Have you noticed?

Has anyone discovered a fix for the flickering sky bug that occurs usually after a cutscene in single player? If i'm just free roaming around the map everything runs smoothly but as soon as I begin a mission, the sky usually starts flickering after the cutscene.

From my experience, people with 1080ti or 1080ti SLIshould just use dx12 mode. Its  gives the best performance with excellent frametime and no flickering. Vulkan with SLI is just too unstable and the fps just doesnt feel smooth. in DX12 mode, i was able to achieve ~60 fps with mostly ultra settings and a few settings in high. Even though only one of my gpus are being use, instead of both in vulkan, the game is actually playable and i m enjoying it a lot more. Gsync in dx12 works flawless so fps drops t0 50s or even 40s arent noticeable in dx 12. But vulkan seems laggy and I cant get Gsync to work in vulkan. Hope this helps.

^^But DX12 doesn't use SLI. Vulkan works perfectly now with 441.71 NV drivers and you set an FPS cap to get better frametimes

actually it's not perfect cause the flashing and flickering issues of cutscene/fog-scene is still there...441.71~~~

I am not using 441.71 beta drivers (441.66 atm) but the amount of flicker and unstable fps from vulkan + sli has really put me off these past couple of weeks. Out of desperation, i tried dx12 and i was satisfied with the fps, despite only one of  my cards being used.

Decide to quit the game and let them fix this S****
Try my best to do everything possible to tweak it to save the situation but i definitively can't support "dancing trees" on DX12 working with one card @40-45fps
and vulkan mgpu doesn't give me satisfaction the way it work.
I will give a try in few months or more if R* decide to face the "multi gpu" situation and offer consistant solutions. They decide to implement game under
DX12 and Vulkan API that is nice idea but for the moment the only game who do it correctly is SOTTR and DIVISION 2 (monocard) who give performance boost DX12 that is very rare to be underlined
and ofc Strange brigade mgpu.
R* have the size and budget to make things correctly after GTA 5 HUGE world success. now let's see if they have the motivation to push walls for pc community.
My gaming time is precious as your and there is tons of games out actually to play with.
RDR2 was one of my biggest deceptive launch of the year

I bought the game not knowing anything of the SLI issues, and now extremely dissapointed.  I'm in the same boat I have two GTX 980 ti's and the game will launch with SLI enabled in the control panel, however soon as I click story
mode, the game hangs.  The game will run for a while if I disable SLI, but then randomly crashes with no error (similar to Jedi Fallen order) I was told the reason the game randomly crashes in Fallen order is due to unstable OC,
however neither of my cards are OC'd, and the fact its happening in this game as well tells me its not related to that.

Yeah, It sucks cause with 2 cards I believe 4K would be achievable for 1080 Ti with digital foundry's "console" settings. Right now I have settled for 1080p with hardware unboxed recommended settings, DX12 and enabled asynch compute. Been running at steady 60 fps but 1080p does no justice to this game 4k is a must or at least 1440p.

Hopefully the new year will bring good news and fixes to all the issues that currently plague the game.

Yeah I hear ya, my monitor will only do 1440p @ 60, and thats all I wanted to run at max or close to max as possible.  Could you tell me what page of the thread digital foundrys settings are on, or would you happen to have a link
to them, I'd like to give them a try.

Thanks

 This game i killing me..

I used DDU to remove ALL nvidia drivers, disconnected internet, restarted, reinstalled latest from nvidia.com and it all still SUCKS.. 15-20 FPS no matter if I use Vulkan or DX12, Low settings or high.. **** gives..

2080 Ti SLI NV-LINK, i9-9900K, 64GB DDR4 Ram should literally play this game with single monitor 4K with zero lag and full 60FPS minimum.. its so frustrating. Its the only game I want to play and all I do is mess with graphics settings and nothing works.. and my pc is amazing.. so mad at Rock* and Nvidia at the moment

@BaDBoY_uK test your solutions yesterday as last try and you actually get the best one
Config : i7 6950X @4.1ghz R5E10 DDR4 3200mhz 32 gig - 1080ti SLI - 2160p @60fps max
Possible to push the game to 58-60 fps with acceptables gaming conditions.

I mean :
- New Nvidia driver () 441.71
- BAT file that auto deletes the SGA files (do manually, but seams needed when initiate the game)
- Arguments in Launcher (-ignorepipelinecache -cpuLoadRebalancing -processPriorityClass HIGH_PRIORITY_CLASS)
- NVInspector :
Number of GPU to use on SLI rendering mode .........................: Two - 0x0000002
Nvidia predefined number of GPU to use on SLI rendering mode : Four - 0x0000004
Nvidia predefined number of GPU ..................................DX10 : Four - 0x0000004
- Launcher & game ADMIN mode
- 2 x 1080 Tis +65/+410 Memory to achieve 2012 Mhz to 2025 Mhz (game always start upper 2038 Mhz for few seconds so be carreful to crash at this point (gfx error blabla)
- No TAA but FXAA (TAA is too washy, blurry, TAA not so friendly in general with SLI)

Resolution: 3840x2160
Vsync: On
then all off

Yeah I hear ya, my monitor will only do 1440p @ 60, and thats all I wanted to run at max or close to max as possible.  Could you tell me what page of the thread digital foundrys settings are on, or would you happen to have a link
to them, I'd like to give them a try.

Thanks

Thanks, seems to be working better for me with the single card, managed to play over an hour and it didn't crash.  Lets hope they fix SLI support so GTX cards can run this.

Cheers and Thanks ;)

Glad it helped pal. I agree TAA makes it blurry but you can use either the NVIDIA sharpen tool or use ReShade with something like Adaptive Sharpen

Quick question, what does exactly the ignore film grain slider does? I'm not sure I understand how it works. 0 is off and 1 is apply Max or is the opposite?

Thanks.

That fact this thread is still ongoing disturbs me Glad I got that refund. At this point, it really doesn't seem as if true SLI support is coming to this game.

24 pages in 7 weeks is pretty good for such a minor problem. LOL!

Can anyone assist?
As of now I uninstalled RD2, DDU driver for nvidia, Reloaded RD2 fresh, Reinstalled latest Nvidia Driver.. And now it loads STORY mode for instance and when loading is done, I hear sound, but get no screen. Just blank black screen and then it says "red dead has stopped working" Prior to this ,it would start, then be 15fps max and be useless..

You'll have to disable SLI in the Nvidia control panel or use DX12 as the graphics API. It's an error that was introduced with the moonshiners update. No solution has been found so far.
