From what I have been told by Nvidia, There is no SLI profile in the drivers, the multicard support is native to the application. infact you can disable sli and take off the bridge, it'll still use both cards. So it is due to the lack of optimization of the RockStar not video card's subvendor, but what if we make the voice loudly enough under the feedback page in rockstar to foce Nv work with them to solve this isuse?

I know before I had removed the Bridge and disabled SLi and vulkan still tried to use both card, but yesterday after I put my  second card back in it defaulted to disabled for some reason and the game strangely enough was only using 1 card. I am not sure if this has been fixed in recent updates or what but I know before you would have to physically remove the card for Vulkan to only use 1.

After I've try Sajin method, sli works. but it's stuttering too much. FPS avg is 70-90 but it feels like 30-40 because of stuttering. Without sli, fps is going around 40-60 but much smoother. Can anyone help me?

Sajin's work was great. But you don't need it now. The new profile in 441.21 or above works out-of-box. Don't change anything

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2: SLI Support 2019/12/17 21:12:49 (permalink)
Hi everyone.

I'm having a recent problem with SLI and Vulkan. It used to work alright but now if SLI is enabled in Nvidia control panel the game will stop working after the loading screen. I have tried reinstalling the game and gpu driver's but had no success. The only way to get to work is by changing to DX12 or disabling SLI in the Nvidia control panel.

Has anybody encountered the same issue?

My specs are:
CPU i7 7700K
Asus ROG Maximus IX Code with latest bios
2x GTX 1080 Ti FE with latest driver's 441.66
16 GB RAM
Windows 10 1909
Game is installed in a Samsung nvme ssd.

Already tried deleting the sga files but had no success. The rdr2.exe stops responding.

Thanks

toggling sli shouldn't do a thing, the game doesn't care about the state of the SLI setting and will use all cards regardless of it.

That's the weird thing, I know SLI it's not implemented and the drive doesn't have a profile but if SLI is enabled in the Nvidia control panel the game crashes every single time. Guess I'll have to enable/ disable it every time I play other games.

Rockstar really messed up this port.

Thanks

I spoke too soon, if I disable SLI in the control panel the second card is not used 😩. Have tried every single solution in this thread and others, nothing has fixed this issue, with SLI enabled game stops responding when loading on-line or story. Guess no RDR2 for me then.

This does not work to fix ERR with SLI. I wrote a batch script that deletes any *sga files every 5 mins. It doesn't work. Pls stop offering this soln

Also disabling SLI works now in the control panel the only thing that doesn't work is setting the Game to single card mode, which will still use both card using SLI. Also there is a SLI profile in the driver, none of this of course applies using DX12.

What exactly have you tried to fix the issue so I don't repeat things you have already tried so save from wasting your time and mine :)  I personally have not ever had issues getting it to load but I do know others that I play with that have had issues.

Im am currently testing SLI with PlayerUnknown profile which almost completely gets rid on the MSI Afterburner flashing and scaling is 95/91 guess we will see if it crashes. I tried The Witcher 3 and it crashed during the first stage of the benchmark with a ERR. Hmm CPU usage seems to be up or I didn't pay attention but I thought it was more like 15% on my 10 core and now its 33% guess I will have to go back and look and see.

Sky flashing was way to bad so trying other things lol. Also FPS tanked in Saint Denis, knew there was a reason I never played Players it always ran like **** lol. Also the next time I loaded it up the flashing in the MSI was back really bad but while I was playing around in single player it was very faint and couldn't really tell it was flashing until you really looked. Also some ppl on reddit said they used The Witcher with .08 I tried it with .66 and it was garbage. I never gave Players profile long enough to crash granted I left it running while I went to get kid from school and did go from Saint Denis all the way north west and then all the way back down to Saint Denis. I did the electric chair guys mission for a subject that was up near Fort Wallace. Also went all the down to 430.86 instant crash, few other profile and pretty much was a ERR is a few minutes. Went to driver 441.12 using the PlayerUnknown profile and while actually playing the MSI flicker is very faint but during the benchmark its really bad, also not really noticing any sky flashing at the moment.

Update;
well that crashed after about 10min

I have been able to go 3hrs or at times. I had to have one of my 2080 Tis replace for some reason it wouldn't do over 28-30fps regardless of the game and temps and clocks were normal and Ill probably never understand that one, so when it I was running SLi I had thought Rock* had killed SLI all together because my fps was worse than a single card. I do believe 440.34 seems to run the best for me with SLI, it just seems smoother and and doesn't seem to dip in FPS as much. I think maybe its a lost cause and since they cant fix GTA V random crashes that has been a limitation of drivers for god I don't know how long it probably wont happen any time soon. I was really hoping the cache thing would have worked.

I may go back and try a DDU install of 440.34 then. Just a few qns

1. Do you use TAA?
2. With 440.34 do you have to mess about in NVinspector to make it work or is it out-of-the-box?

Yeah it was the hotfix driver nvidia release for the CPU staling that was later done in 440.41. I just leave it as is, it may be in my head it just seems smoother for me. I also use medium for TAA because without it looks like im playing Minecraft or something lol, its not that bad but you get the idea it looks worse than console and cant have that. The driver was released around 12/5 and Rock* talked about using a launch command for it and after then .41 was released they removed it from the title update notes. I got it from Guru3d as I never saw it on Nvidia website.

So far single player has been running since around 2:20pm cst and it is now 4:45pm cst and Im running 441.66 with the ignorecache launcher command and I set the launcher and the game itself to run as admin. Also using GeForce experience optimized settings and so far no ERR error.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2: SLI Support 2019/12/20 15:37:46 (permalink)
Default for me my cards run 1680-1905mhz range for FE cards. So right now they are doing 1905mhz.Also jfyi that some of the flashing in the game is also cuased by the MSI I removed all the monitoring and the flashing in the map went away, but yeah still going strong.

Update:
Scratch that the map flash came back lol, but far as the actual game I don't see any flashing other than cut scenes. Hmm after I removed the onscreen MSI stuff and I took a train to Saint Denis there was no flashing.
Update:
Still going @ 7:20pm cst

Well I upped the setting to all ultra/high and so far still no crash , just hit Ch 5 on single player so I would say 8hr without a ERR it is finally fixed? Now to try and reduce some of that cut scene flashing.

Update:
Well it finally crashed out on me, but still 9 hrs plus is a hell of a lot better than every 5 min. Started to get weird screen flashes then it crapped out with a ERR.
