I have also submitted a support ticket to Ek with my block serial to see if I need the revised stand offs and possibly learn when they modified the block itself to not need the revised standoffs The block doesn't need any modification. The standoffs just have to be smaller diameter, not shorter like someone posted earlier.

The block doesn't need any modification. The standoffs just have to be smaller diameter, not shorter like someone posted earlier.
That's extremely good info to have! I wish I'd known that earlier or I could have looked for damage or signs of a short near the standoff after the last failed attempt. I think that he is assuming that new blocks would be shipped with the revised standoffs and it would be good to know how to check to see if the block is ok to fit as it was received.

This has happened to me numerous times over the years with several different iterations of cards starting with the 280gtx line. I found that it is completely random in my case. I once had two 780gtx cards refuse to boot after water block install and after i had them replaced, same thing happened to one of the replacements. My current card refused to boot (1080ti FTW3) after EK water block install and after a lot of messing around, mostly with the tension of the backplate screws, it magically booted and has been great everr since.. *touch wood, hail mary, chanting mantras*

For those following along at home, it seems like the culprit may be the size of the two central standoffs in this picture - which clearly seem to be too large for the available space on my 3080 FTW3 Ultra. If any new member to this unfortunate club happen to still have their GPU on hand then it would be great to get confirmation of whether or not there is visible damage to the components around the smaller holes in the PCB.

If any new member to this unfortunate club happen to still have their GPU on hand then it would be great to get confirmation of whether or not there is visible damage to the components around the smaller holes in the PCB.
Finally got some clarification for all of us! Just got a return email from my rep from EK and he did confirm that those two bottom ones you mention should be changed to the smaller standoff like the one in the bottom left corner. So in total three standoffs need to be changed.

I contacted EK support about this today, and got a quick reply that they will ship me standoffs as well. I got my block in april.

I also received an email reply today and the stand off in the corner circled in 'red' in earlier posts is what the EK indicated to me was most critical. Here's a copy of the email text: Thank you for contacting us. I'm sorry for being late! We received a lot of requests and we process them in chronological order. It may be possible that you have the block with the not-updated standoff. You can easily check this. For the mentioned GPU EVGA FTW3, the new 3 standoffs should be installed here: The most important is the one in red circle. Please check if this standoff is small in diameter then all others you have.  I will send you new standoffs and a tool so you can change them if you find you have older version of the block. 3x 100845 - Distancer M4/M2.5x2.5 – HEX 1x 8907 - Imbus EK UNI

I ordered my block direct from EK on 6/11/21. I have opened a ticket, provided my serial number, and they indicated that all 3 would have to be replaced and that the standoffs would be shipped to me ASAP.
For those of you who have received the replacement standoffs, did they provide you with tracking info and how long did it take you to get them?

Just got the message that EK will send me the standoffs by DHL - did anyone manage to brick their card with the new standoffs yet? I'm still feeling a bit sore from my last RMA and will leave the block as a paperweight unless I see lots of positive reports.

Hi all, i am new here in the watercooling community  Got the plexi version from DazMode this monday (ordered june 24th) for my 3090 FTW3. It had already the new revision for the left standoff. EK directly accepted to send me new standoffs (free of charge) for the other 2 after opening a ticket with them to ask if those were necessary. I'll tell you when i receive them.

I did not have any issues. I did have the new RMA card with black lips instead of red ones from last card

Im pretty sure it should be the revised one though based off order date and being ordered directly from ek. Here was the response. "I can't tell if you have the replaced version or not but to the best of my knowledge it was one standoff that was changed, and it wasn't necessary to change it but it just helped make better contact so we changed it. You would need to measure the standoff in the bottom left corner of the block to see if it is the changed one or not. I would have to drain my coolant to see the standoffs, At which point I would just measure it myself. Just going to assume its the corrected version based off people that ordered before me getting revised standoffs already.

I have the block & backplate on order from them, so I opened a ticket to see which standoffs were coming with the block. Here was their response:
"We are aware of the issue and can confirm that all new orders are shipped with the correct size standoffs.
Customers that received the old standoffs can contact us and we will send them new standoffs free of charge.
Thank you for understanding."
So, that makes me hopeful. No ship date yet on the block, but I get my 3090 tomorrow.

The thing is if you guys can respond of how many people have had problems once they either added the correct standoffs or ordered with the standoffs already in place from ek . Also how many have not had problems after the stand off update from ek . I want to watercool the card but still after reading the whole 22 page form am still worried . The fact that ek added the standoff but did not admit doing anything wrong is not a good sign . either they messed up or did it for the reason that it will make people less worried to buy the waterblock even though ek knowing the standoff change has no effect. Others have had problems with other blocks but not as many as EK . I wanted a corsair waterblock but they havent made one for the Evga cards . Evga cards seem to be one of the most sold 3 series that you can get your hands on during this time . The fact that Corsair chose to make a MSi waterblock really says somthing . Now i guess the only thing to do is wait for Corsair to make a waterblock for the ftw3090 or maybe Evga will make one but who knows . Really dont want to take a chance on Ek then have somthing go wrong to then get a refurb 3090 when i have a new one .

Received my standoffs today as well.
They sent three, all of them match the far left one so it appears that only the two on the right would have to be changed.
Makes sense looking at the previous images posted.
