Gotspeed, if you already have the amd foundation block, and don't need both amd and Intel systems on water at the same time, all you need is the intel mounting bracket ($30) to change it over.

That sounds great.  If I don't plan on using the AMD block then I'll pick up the bracket to just move it over.  I'm in the middle of a few builds projects for other people so someone might want to up grade to my 5950/Dark Hero and while they are at it go with a custom loop.  I have two custom loop PCs waiting for me to work on of the 5 or 6 AIO/Air Cooled pcs I have waiting so maybe one of those might want to convert/upgrade too.

One of the custom loops I have to work on is still in the planning stages.  The guy already got his case and PSU but he didn't choose yet his CPU/Mobo combo yet so we are looking into whether he wants to go with the 12900K and a Hero board to game with.  His game is DCS, so we are looking into the concerns with Windows 11 and the scheduler within the OS and whether he would want to go that route instead of a 5950/Dark Hero combo.  We are looking to more the performance of the P-cores and E-cores within the 12900K to make sure it works well.

Thanks again for sharing the info.  Appreciate the time and consideration.

At least Optimus is consistent in not meeting their dates and promises. I have to give them that.

I really like the Hero board, but with the water block that i need I'd like to get a block that is designed for LGA1700 and not adapted to it.  I don't really think I would buy the glacial so really the choice is down to the Strix E or the Hero board for me.  Until the Z690 dark comes out I'll wait on that to see if that interest me along with cost.  Not really keen on spending another 600 bucks for a Hero mobo and then another 400 or more for ram just to change out from the 5950 to the 12900K.  Just really thinking of my options since I can always hold onto the CPU till a bit later when mobo and ram prices come down a bit. The glacial was just a very short impulse consideration.

The Optimus block works fine for the 12900k no adapter needed. I’ll be using that on the Extreme

I contacted Optimus about my Signature V2 block (Intel) - they confirmed it was fine with LGA1700, no new brackets needed or anything else, it's good to go. Gotspeed_2000 might have the AMD block though...

I use a Signature V2 on a Maximus Hero/12900k it works great.
I also moved from a 5950x to a 12900k with DDR5.
I keep checking because I want nicer DDR5 and it's insane to get. I wonder how much is demand and how much is the masked scalper again.

For reals right? I actually got my intel and AMD CPU in the 3 weeks quoted by them, but that was far after their initial batches. I really thought the KP was going to ship from this week, but now I'm even less confident then ever.

You must be one of the lucky ones.  My in stock and ready to shop AM4 block took over 3 months to ship.

If the KP blocks take any longer to be finished, they might now ship until the 4090 is announced.

I think the kingpin one been up for like about a week or so.

Didn't it say something else before.

And from the last update it seems like they're just down to the backplate?  Wish they continue to give us weekly update even if there's no progress.

I also think the update on the Kingpin came out only about a week ago.  I'm still working off my laptop as my home renovations are still ongoing.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.  I didn't do my normal Black Friday shopping this year, but I did score a few Lian Li unifans for buy one get one free from our local store.  I also saw the Asus Z690 Hero board.  I couldn't resist it so I brought that home too with the fans.  Now I need to figure out what DDR5 ram I want and can find.

Still not for sure on doing tis upgrade, but I am leaning toward it.

Anyone else running the 12900 yet here?  How has it been running and how is the temps?  The store I picked up my Z690 Hero mobo said they built a 12900K system already using a Artic Freeze AIO and it couldn't keep the cpu cool.  Not sure on their over clocks, but it got me a bit worried about if I do go that route.  I'm wondering if I should keep an eye out for a new LGA 1700 CPU block which not only fits but is actually designed around the 12900K's physical dimensions to maximize cooling.

I don't know why, but I placed another order with Optimus for the parts I need to convert my AMD CPU block to the Intel.  Also ordered replacement thermal pads for the blocks I have along with the mounting hardware for the intel block.  I'm not rushing to do the conversion, but really would like to have my Kingpin Block in my possession.  I have two conversions to do when they finally do decide to ship out the blocks.  Still crossing my fingers on this getting sent out soon.

That's been on the website for two weeks now.
I have 3 55mm 360rads and my whole system torn apart for two months now waiting on the kp block. No way can I fit the kp aio in my case. It's on an open bench table with the rad leaning against a wall.
The last two gens of kps have been ln2 only due to no waterblocks for them. And no way was I paying $300+ for evgas ****ty hc kp blocks, they should have been the same price as their other hc blocks.

With my experience with the KP Hydro Copper blocks so far, they should be $99 at most.  One of the two was damaged at the factory by having a screw over tightened and stripped the acrylic and both leaked when they were new.  That's the kind of QC you get an on $99 Ali Express block.

After 6 months of ownership, I agree, they're pricey for what they are.  The block looks amazing imo.  However, I ended up buying a backup HC block in case I need another year or two before the 40xx kingpin, courtesy of this great community.  I have already had to disassemble my first HC block twice rather than mess around with RMAing.  The first time was my fault - I didnt flush a new rad enough and a decent sized piece of gunk got lodged in the GPU fins.  Second time was for corrosion, which did come off with elbow grease and a stiff brush.  But surface corrosion in 3 months on distilled water and algaecide in a full EK loop?  How can that be?  The warranty is only 1 year so when it goes, its going into the trash not a box back to EVGA for RMA.  So I'm now in for easily over $1,000 USD for HC blocks and HC block accessories........ don't tell the family, this is our secret lol

Not only that but the delays between announcement of GPU/MBs and delivery in general have me concerned that I may be on this GPU upgrade cycle significantly than I care to be.

EVGA support is probably at least a little bit frustrated too.  Historically, their products have been very high quality so getting hammered by customers constantly due to factory issues is probably wearing them down.

Anyway hope everyone is well today and have a great weekend.

sorry to hear that, ugh. wish there was some recourse for those of you who have been waiting months now. feels very disingenuous of them. i guess a lesson learned for future releases from them. i'm sure they'll say "we learned from this and improved our production processes" but their moving target just shows me a company with poor project management. supply chain issues or not

Optimus has become a joke, becoming just as bad as Eve monitors. Maybe have a block for 6months before 40 series launches.

Been trying to cancel my order but can't get a response.

Yeah, not only poor project management, but most importantly very poor customer relationship where they do not communicate to us be it through e-mail or twitter.  Weeks, even months of no response from Optimus.  I stuck around because I do not have the resources for the rumored 3090ti.

I've tried to warn everyone before about Optimus and how many delays and excuses for not shipping they had before the pandemic.  They are even worse than usual with the delays.

As someone said on Twitter, Optimus gave the impression back in July that the KP block was finished, but it seems that they weren't even finished with the design and prototype testing when they took pre orders.  Buying new products from Optimus is worse than kickstarter because of how misleading Optimus PC was.  From what was said by Optimus on twitter, it seems that they didn't even have a prototype made until recently and possibly had issues with it, which added to the delays.

Optimus has been collecting interest on our money since July, so they should give all the preorders a partial refund.  In the future I'd suggest that everyone tell Optimus that they only should accept a small deposit for preorders and pay the rest upon completion of the product then its ready to ship.  That money could have been sitting in my high yield savings account or invested in cryptocurrency either way it would have earned me money instead of earning Optimus interest.

Yea I wrote on their Twitter that if some time went by without shipping I wanted a refund with interest. But I removed it because some people on there are defending Optimus and saying other stupid things. I just can't bother with those types.

I'm at the point where I wish EKWB made a Kingpin 3090 Water Block. EKWB had 3090 waterblocks available for some cards within 2 to 3 months of the card's release date.

When I asked EKWB about a KP block, it seemed that the KP isn't a high enough production volume part for EKWB to make a water block for it.  They wouldn't make their money back from research and design I guess.
