I don't think there is anything you can do. The pump is of somewhat questionable quality and it buzzes.

That is what I was worried about when sent unit for RMA. It is probably pointless to do exchange. It will be same buzzing. My computer is on a table to the right of me and I could hear it easy.

I don't know, if SprayingMango originally had 2 that did not buzz, then there is a chance. It's really unfortunate, one of the big selling points for AIOs (at least for me) is how quiet they are.

I did. My top one does not buzz but now my bottom one does. I’m going to take the rad out and move it around, I think it’s just air bubbles.

After a very long RMA I finally got replacement. New one buzzes all the same. May be even worse. I regret buying anything evga this time around.

For what it's worth, mine was noisy as I stated above. Took the rad out, slowly moved it around while it was running. It made some gurgling sounds as the air bubbles moved around. I reinstalled it. It buzzed less for a few days and eventually went away. Both of them are quiet now.

I already did the part with bubbles. That did not help. I will give it a few more days.

Just thought I would pop in here to say I currently have an RMA open for a replacement Hybrid kit due to pump buzzing. While I expect some pump noise, the buzzing from the Hybrid kit was louder than the three previous AIOs I've used. Fingers crossed that the new unit doesn't buzz.

This is ridiculous EVGA.  My 1080 ti FTW3 hybrid was/is still dead silent and I loved it before selling it to a friend.  Looks like I got lucky this time around avoiding the hybrid kit and going Hydrocopper.  What happened to the QC?  I'm glad I am not dealing with this mess, I am sorry for those that are.

After several days nothing changed. Buzzing is still there. I owned every hybrid kit since 980. This is the worst one.

sorry to hear about the issue as well as the long RMA process. Interested in this hybrid solution as well but this is definitely going to factor into the purchase decision. For us noobs...is it typical for EVGA hybrid cooling kits to be constantly sold out within minutes? It makes sense that RMAs would take a long time if it takes over 1 month for the next batch to come in.

Finally, purely speculation, but I wonder if the government shutdown in the US is affecting the supply chain speed? Specifically how quickly EVGA products coming in from overseas makes it off the ships and into their warehouses...

I received my replacement hybrid kit today. Although the replacement is less noisy than the original, it is definitely the loudest of the four AIO coolers I have experience with. I don't expect any AIO cooler to be completely silent, but I would prefer it to be less audible than this. I think I'm going to stick with air cooling for the time being. This kit isn't worth the additional cost.

What a shame really, I'd love to use this kit in my 2080ti FE and I check multiple times a day to see if it's in stock, I saw it was in stock today and it sold out within minutes, depressing as the stock cooler in my GPU isn't working properly and I've been trying custom solutions ever since.

For people who have installed the Hybrid kit, besides lower temps and less noise, did you find GamersNexus's conclusion concerning power limitation being the limiting factor on increasing performance to be accurate? To recap, the argument was that for this generation, due to Nvidia imposed limitations, even with the greater thermal headroom from water/hybrid cooling, you would not see meaningful gains in gaming performance due to the tight power restrictions. This is in contrast to previous generations in Maxwell and Pascal that would allow for more performance under the better thermal conditions enabled by liquid cooling.

They are back in stock right now.  I'm mainly buying one to remove the heat out of my case and for my rig to be less noisy while gaming.

Lower temps - yes, less noise - no, better overclock/performance than air - no. Gamers Nexus conclusion is accurate.

I just my hybrid kit for the 2080ti yesterday and I hope to install it today. I will let you guys know on here how it goes, especially with respect to any pump buzzing or loose LED wires.

EDIT: So far the LED soldering looks fine, although there is some slightly odd scratching on the wires, the copper isn't quite exposed:

Alright, so the replacement has a more annoying, louder buzz. I kept the rad above the pump during the install and made sure to shake any bubbles out. It's installed above the GPU as exhaust with the hoses down.  This pump sounds like its an even worse quality than my first. This sucks. I guess i will try to move the radiator around while the system is on and see if that does anything.

This is poor QC EVGA.

Are you guys all replacing the stock compound that comes on the AIO copper block with Kryonaut or, dare I ask, Liquid Metal?

Also, is there any way to keep the 2080Ti FE backplate on with this hybrid cooler? The hex bolts into which the original philips head screws securing the backplate no longer have anything to bite into now the original heatsink unit is gone, so I've no idea how to keep the backplate on... anyone else solved this?

Re: Installed EVGA Hybrid Cooler - Getting Buzzing 2019/01/24 19:40:14 (permalink)
EDIT: This AIO cooler appears to have killed my 2080Ti FE!

It now boots into windows but trying to bring anything up just causes everything to freeze - I have to hard power off to turn off the pc. If I remove the 2080ti FE then the system runs fine on the iGPU.

My card was working perfectly (albeit noisily) before installing this hybrid cooler, now it's effectively dead.

I installed it to the letter of the instructions and took pictures on the way.

This is an abomination!

Re: Installed EVGA Hybrid Cooler - Getting Buzzing 2019/01/28 19:29:57 (permalink)
Bought this when it first launched - had the buzzing, RMAed it. Got the RMA replacement in, still buzzes the same amount it seems like. Maybe I need to move the rad around a bit while it's running but I don't know if it'll help all that much. I have headphones on all the time anyway so I might just deal with it. Plus under load, my fans rev up and mostly cover it. I really don't want to keep RMAing it and hope I get lucky with a non-buzzing one.

Should also mention that at idle, with fans at 30% blowing up through the top-mounted radiator so air pushes out the top, it's on average 34-36C. Now while this is pretty warm (same as when on air), this is because it's running at a higher idle clock due to my dual 144hz monitor setup, also in a small form factor case where the hoses are a bit crimped. Under load, it barely goes beyond 60C which is where it really shines.

Re: Installed EVGA Hybrid Cooler - Getting Buzzing 2019/01/28 21:59:58 (permalink)
Been running two 2080 Ti Hybrids for 3 weeks. Have not experienced any buzzing from either card. Both rads are mounted flat at the top of the case in push pull configs with the hot air flow going up and out of the case. (not sure if this is the recommended config, but it's only way that works for the case)

I do hear like a small "humming" noise coming from the pumps, but it's a very small noise and my Corsair .26A amp fans at 50% through a fan controller become louder at that point.

Happy with the purchase so far. Waiting for drivers to get better. Tried the 380 Watt bios (300x126) over at overclock.net and gained two bins (30Mhz core) and 100 memory on both the cards, but don't like that it parks the rad fans at zero at idle so I went back to the original bios's and staying with those.

I installed my original unit and wow, what a difference in pump noise. There's a hum or buzz but it's barely audible over my 200mm case fans. My replacement was so bad I am happy with my original.

It is worth mentioning the stock paste is very good. I was getting 55-57c with stock clocks and hovered at 60c (max 61c) with a 143mhz curve @120 power limit with both units. Since I reinstalled original I had to reapply thermal paste and I'm not getting the same results. Stock clocks are at 59-61c and overclock it gets to 66c max. I ordered thermal grizzly kryonaut to see if I can hit those glorious temps again.

I installed mine(2080 Ti FTW3), but they didn't give me a 2 slot bracket, so I'm running the 3 slot bracket right now. Pretty annoying.
But I'm also seeing high temps. Hitting 65C under gaming load and 30 idle. I put EVGA precision on an aggressive fan setting, but it only helped a tiny bit--before that, it was hitting 70C.
I assumed that the 3 slot bracket in the back isn't allowing air to be pushed out of the GPU, but that's just a guess.
No buzzing noise like the TC and others are getting, however.
If I get the bracket and it lowers it to 60C, then I'll be happy. However, at 65C I gotta say, it is quiet as hell compared to the 3 fan combo that was on it before.

Huh? You realize that 30c idle and 60s under load is quite good for a 120mm hybrid cooler, right? Also, what are your ambient temps? Both of my 2080Tis sit in the low 30s at idle and low 60s under load after hours of gaming. Compared to 70-80s on air it is fantastic.

With the FTW3 on air cooling, I was at 71C. Also, I just played some Odyssey for a bit, and my temp rose to 69C. The temperature change is tiny, but at least it's super quiet. I'm hoping the 2 slot bracket with more holes in the back will alleviate some of the heat on the card.

I didn't get one. I sent in a ticket request with EVGA. The 2 slot bracket is listed in the manual for the hybrid kit, but since I don't have one, I'm using the 3 slot bracket that was on the FTW3.
