Hello,

I was thinking about replacing the cooling solution of my EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming GPU by an AIO (Hybrid kit) (EVGA - Products - EVGA HYBRID Kit for EVGA GeForce RTX 3090/3080 Ti/3080 FTW3, 400-HY-1988-B1, ARGB - 400-HY-1988-B1)

However, will changing the cooling solution by myself with the EVGA Hybrid kit void my warranties ?

EDIT :
If not, and if I have a problem with my GPU, will I have to put back the original cooling solution ?
Changing the cooling solution will ruin the thermal pads so that wouldn't be very nice...

    No it won't.

If you have to RMA you have to restore your card.

What about the thermal pads that will be damaged while changing the cooling solution ? I'm referring to the long grey pads

In the rare case in which an RMA would be needed you have to put the card back together in it's original condition and that includes the thermal pads. There can be no physical damage to the card.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Thanks, but what if the thermal pads break during removal ? There's like a 99% chance it happens.
Just like in this video of a guy changing its cooler, screenshot of the broken pad rectangle :

Thermal pads are not physical damage. Though it’s a hassle if you don’t have any on hand, they can be replaced easily. I wouldn’t worry too much about that

    Ok, thanks!

Those aren't pads, it's putty. You can roll it up and reapply it like Play-Doh.

I would handle them with gloves so finger oils don't get into them but it's probably not a big deal.

And one thing not to forget, EVGA is the best I can think of in the industry with a right to repair mindset. The sticker is simply a tamper check, to dig deeper if the user damaged the card for RMA (like a screw driver that slipped). As mentioned before, as long as you put it back together unaltered (like don't paint the plastic shroud or cut it) and put back as the best you ca to factory like installation, if it is a card issue and not a user issue you will be just fine in case of RMA.

Also if you install a BIOS that is not for normal use (any modified from original) you loose your warranty, but that is normal.

I like to go overboard with documenting stuff so maybe even take a picture of your card with its SN showing and the Hybrid kit next to it. Kind of like a "Hey, here's my card before I put the kit on". Probably overkill, but it's always better to have more proof then less, in case you ever have to send it in.

FYI put the pads back as best as you can, no need to replace the putty. Notate in the RMA that you had the hybrid kit installed, but they will probably know anyway by your account and the missing putty.

EVGA is great in that they acknowledge users will put aftermarket coolers on and things won't be 100% back to the factory state if you ship it back for RMA, just get it as close to factory as possible and notate what cooler you used. They will take apart the card anyway, not just plug it straight in, when they get it, according to previous posts on this exact subject.

Yeah, thank you everyone for your help.

In the end, I am sure I won't try to switch to hybrid.
First of all, it's quite hard to find one at a good price in France.
Second of all, I saw that some people failed to do it properly so they bricked their card.

I'm too afraid of breaking it because of myself so I'll just stick with how the card is ;)
It's a bit loud but the temps are fine under load (mid 70, hot spot up to mid 90s)

    I'll survive ;)
