Why bring it out now when EVGA can tie it in with IB-E release.  Wouldn't surprise me if their marketing department  is working on it.

Because what good does it do them? EVGA already has ES samples of IB-E and i'm sure they already tested and made sure it works. No one else is bringing out a new x79 mobo because it doesn't do any good.

Try and look at it from a marketing perspective...

Think about it, EVGA for what it seems now will be the only vendor releasing a new X79 motherboard to go along with the release of IB-E. While not a new chipset to go with the CPU release, it is a new motherboard. The X79 Dark was shown back in January and from March till now the release period has been the same. Always very soon, almost done, final tuning of the bios etc.

It may not have always been the plan to release it with IB-E, but now it would make sense. EVGA can send out X79 Darks to reviewers to pair it up with the Intel Core i7-4960X reviews. Show off what the board can do with the new CPU and at the same time repair the company's image with its motherboard division.

They can do that without IB-E. Everyone has already expressed their feeling on EVGA waiting this long and a lot of people that want step up or to buy a new mobo wont wait 2 months.

Re:EVGA X79 Dark Sunday, July 21, 2013 8:39 PM (permalink)
I hope the DARK comes out soon, I have had my PC laying in parts since my X58 died (since January). The worse part is I can't get in the room right now where I have my system setup, I am about to move out of my parents house and would rather move my PC in one part vs moving it in a thousand parts and possibly losing things on the way.

To anyone in EVGA I will personally be ok with BETA testing a DARK, I understand that the BIOS is still being worked on but I would rather have a buggy PC right now than this mess, I would love to put my x79 Classified to use but as it is I can't fit that board in my Corsair 800D case and the size of the DARK would work perfectly for me. You can see right in front of the case my X79 Classified in box and ready to go with a 3930k but I just don't know what to do.

I'll admit I am a EVGA fanboy and for the first time in my life I understand how religious people must feel when they say 'This is a test of my faith". I know everything will work out in the end but I just hope it happens before I close on my house.

EVGA X79 DARK Motherboard, Intel 4930K @4.4 Ghz
Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB, GTX 1080Ti
Corsair AX1200, Corsair 800D Case.

Holy crap man! lol  I'd hate to see a panorama!

Even if you have a few parts, at least go buy a big box to store it all in. Or at least make sure you label the boxes and pack it yourself, ensuring you dont lose anything. Heck do inventory and number the boxes and list everything inside. So you don't lose track where you put it lols.

What better avenue can EVGA take than releasing the X79 Dark with the new Intel CPUs. Yes those who have been following the X79 Dark from the beginning is one thing, but what about the majority who know very little to nothing about the X79 Dark. People looking to get IB-E may look upon getting a new motherboard, EVGA could put their new board in position of high consideration by releasing it alongside the Intel CPU.

The only other group that I could think of, of putting out a new X79 MOBO is Asus with a RIVE Black Edition.  Just like how they did it as a last hurrah for the Rampage III Extreme Black Edition.

The board should've been named EVGA X79 Ghost, since everyone knows it exists, but the board is yet to bee seen anywhere.

I've been out of the loop for a while, but I have a question based upon one of the posts above:

How does anyone know that Asus/Gigabyte etc will not be releasing a new X79 board for IB-E?

What i'm counting on is for Asus to release a Rampage IV Extreme Black Edition just like how they put out a Rampage III Extreme Black Edition at the end of the X58s life cycle.  And Asus already had a black prototype they showed off but said it would not be up for sale...when they showed it.  So I'm just sitting here and waiting.

Roger.  I thought someone implied that they knew...which is my fault for assuming that ANYONE here knows that for sure:)

I agree, if Asus releases a black edition, I will jump on it!  I suppose it all depends on how the Dark turns out...but Asus doesn't have anything to prove.

I really like X79 Dark.  I really am rooting for EVGA to get their act together on the motherboard side again.

However, once bitten, twice shy.  The upgrade offer after 1.5 years of poor support on a broken board is a slap in the face.  I'm not mad anymore, EVGA.  Just very disappointed... like your moms are when they catch you doing people wrong.

I did bring up the possibility of the X79 Dark being the only new X79 available with IB-E release. It was not in no way meant to suggest I knew it as being fact. I believe ASUS has released a new X79 motherboard not too long ago (P9X79-E WS?).

came out in June and a Mobo that I'm heavily considering since it does the ability and support for Xeon CPUs.

Correct me if I am wrong here, don't want to get at a battle or anything. Why would you go for the Asus and spend more money getting that Black edition if it came out when you can get the Dark for cheaper and replace the Classified board? To me it would seem cheaper to go for the Dark and hope its good than just spending another 350 plus for a new board when upgrade would be 150 for you. Unless Asus has a step up program that is? I don't pay attention them so why I am asking and I am curious.

Pretty much this.  I am in need of another X79 board for my 3 x 7970's and a new IB-E chip.  I will most likely pay the 150 to upgrade my Classy to a fully functioning motherboard.  Now, if the Dark lives up to the EVGA name, I may keep it.  If not, I will sell it and get the Black edition.  I know, it's complicated:)

(The following is ONLY a statement that pertains to ME):  In the last 4 years my Asus boards have run flawlessly for me.  While I can say the same about EVGA's video cards, I cannot say the same about EVGA's mainboards.  I am hoping the Dark will return us to the days of the X58 boards.

Is that official for ROG, no ROG 5 Extreme board if they launch BIOS for IB-E. How someone was smart on time, I can't remember when they launch 3930K and and how much can cost cross on IB-E on same board with new 4930K 150-200$.
That was hit in eye that combination.

Yes it has been confirmed by ASUS that there will be no Rampage IV Black Edition. I doubt there will be a V either until a new socket. Speaking of BEs, a sealed Rampage III Black Edition sold on eBay for like $575 shipped a couple weeks ago. A serious bid war went on XD.

Roger.  I thought someone implied that they knew...which is my fault for assuming that ANYONE here knows that for sure:)

I agree, if Asus releases a black edition, I will jump on it!  I suppose it all depends on how the Dark turns out...but Asus doesn't have anything to prove.

Because if he were to step-up then just sell the Dark plus his rivf it would be a free upgrade

Okay, that does make sense there more than what I was getting from your first post. If anything, hope it all works out for you in the end.

This has been confirmed many times over on the ROG forum. No new x79, black or otherwise.

But you never know   When sale starts to slump and they need to inject some life into it.

Either ways once 9-9-2013 hits I'll make my final decision on the RIVE or Dark.
