Gold Leader I like sooo much the layout of my X79 FTW that I will keep using this EVGA mobo for many many years (I don't overclock anything because overclocking reduce the lifespan of all electronics components), and I hope the new bios made for the X79 Dark will be also available for my X79 FTW I think it is just missing the black plastic cover for the 24 pins of the right-angle connector, which has been added to the newer EVGA boards

Well I've had my RIVE for about 6 weeks now and loving it ;) Imagine putting the Debug LED somewhere on the Board where its not covered by a GPU? As for changes / comparisons: 1. Is the Dark going to have passive cooling on the Chipset vs the small fan on the RIVE ? Remember how hot the Classy X59 got and we were all looking for small fans t mount? 2. Really like the 90 degree 24 Pin, would have been nice to see this on the RIVE. 3. Like the additional PCI-E Power available along the bottom edge of the Board via straight 12v Molex vs PCI-E 6 pin in the middle of the RIVE. 4. Looks like the Dark Bios is finally catching up to Asus ;) Good luck to you guys....here's to 4.7 Ghz and beyond!!!

Generally I run 3-4 cards and it drives me BONKERS having to run that power cable across the whole damned board. EVGA generally has a better "Layout" than other companies. I will indeed give the that.

Yeah was thinking of getting a 3rd 680 Classy, but realized I'l have to dig out one of those Molex to 6 Pin adapters out of one of my GPU Accessory packages, I certainly dont "route" the present one across the Board, it actually tucks along the edge of my case alright, but to the back then in between the IO to the plug. Not a huge deal, but would be better at the bottom edge for sure!!

Not good. With the ongoing debacle of EVGA's X79 platform, this surely erodes confidence on the consumer level. As far as I know most of the tech specs have come from 3rd party sources. EVGA is very tight lipped. The most official word we get on the X79 Dark are delay notices. At this point anything less then an actual release date is simply smoke and mirrors.

In Evga's defense I'm sure they just want to ensure they get it "right".....on the down side for them, many of us said f*** it and bought a RIVE.....I know I certainly wouldnt purchase another X79 Board this late in the game to replace my RIVE that has been rock solid.... Anyone looking for a new platform with 4930K may go this route I suppose, but yes, getting pretty late in the game for an X79 Mobo release thats for sure!!! Lets hope it will be worth the wait for some ;)

With all the flack they have taken for the X79 debacle (and a lot of it from people like me) if they don't take their time and get this right, it could be a VERY bad thing. However sometimes I think they shouldn't announce things so early. I am eagerly awaiting what type of program they will have for the old X79 users. My Classy has been sitting on the floor for the last 3 months in its box. I am ready to get rid of it.

I find it amusing to say the least... those with motherboard problems want them fixed and they are getting an upgrade path according to EVGA. That's great... I don't hear that from other companies who've essentially screwed up product releases very often. Then the amusing part... we want the motherboard NOW! I find it hard to understand why folks complain about waiting on a motherboard release to fix a motherboard problem they've experienced but they want it NOW! Would you rather they (EVGA) release a not ready for prime time motherboard to satisfy those of you who want to replace your not ready for prime time motherboard now or would you rather know that EVGA is doing due diligence and trying to create a more perfect product to win back your confidence? You can't have it both ways folks but I suspect that's what you want. And that is a shame.

I believe EVGA are gonna string the release of the Dark out until the release of IvyBridge-E in Sept. What would be the point of owning the X79 Dark until then? Not a lot.

I'm sure you also find it amusing how EVGA gives a time frame for release, then pushes it back. You must find it amusing how a chipset (x79) so far after release is taking this long to "fine tune". A June release could still happen, but some won't be surprise if it does not. Remember the Dark being shown back at this year's CES? Yeah, EVGA has been talking about this board for a while now. You can even see some of the changes made on the board in that time. Even after all of that, I do like the continued communication from those in the know at EVGA.

Umm I believe they are still on track for a launch within the next month unless I missed something in the past few days. What would be the point of not owning a x79 dark now? You don't get anything on IB-E that SB-E doesn't support already. Well you may get a few little features but my guess is that EVGA already has ES of IB-E and have made sure that it works.

This time next year will be X99 Chipset and 2011 Socket Haswell-E DDR4 yada yada...thats why I sat its getting a tad late in the game for new X79 Premium Board. I can totally understand how many X79 Classy users are getting impatient, really its a bit of a slap paying upwards of $400+ for a non-working Board, only to be told you can step -up (if thats the case), to a Dark and have no idea when...... Lets face it...X79 debut back in 2011...its not as though new tech....personally if I had a borked Classy for awhile I would have gone with an alternative Board long ago...hang onto the Classy in case I can somehow re-coup cost....curious, did Evga offer a full refund for your borked boards if you wanted it?

I know what you are saying, but I think it will realistically be longer for X99. I know that I'm not going to pay for DDR4 when it first comes out, it will all be very, very expensive. I may go for the IB-E 4930X as this is really going to up the game long enough for X99 pricing to drop some. I probably won't even need to upgrade for quit awhile anyway until software catches up. If we are really, really, really, really fortunate Haswell will somehow be backwards compatible with DDR3 just don't ask me how that will work . I don't think it's late in the game when X79 is still the best thing going for multi GPU. Infact I'm predicting X79 will be the longest lasting platform I have had yet. X99 will be awesome but some how I think the price will reflect that as well for a long time.

Try to remember... some of us payed for a fantastic motherboard a year ago. Its not that we want the "dark" specifically right now, I would be more than satisfied with a rebuilt bios for my classified. While I realize I actually received a product that I paid for, one would argue it did not operate as intended. While the physical property of the argument is void, users feel like they paid for the "dark" or basically a motherboard that rivaled the RIVE which I think what evga had intended. the truth of the matter is, evga doesnt "owe" anyone anything, you paid for a product and thats what it turned out to be. What would intrest evga is retaining customers, and saving face, otherwise there is no value allowing people to turn in their classifieds other than lost potential future business
