Zgapzy Got my RMA approved today, curious to see how the new one goes as this card puleed 14600 with xc3 on air. XOC 420w max.
Well there is a good chance that your RMA card won't perform better but can draw 500w ;)
Can't be anyworse than the 13900 on XOC. xc3 was good but who knows where the power is actually coming from. I just want a card that's up to spec.

TheNaitsyrk I used XC3 BIOs and scores in TimeSpy have no changed almost at all, but average clock speed changed! Instead of 2033 with XOC bios, now average clock speed is 2152Mhz with 2220Mhz max.
Now check Port Royal and games - Time Spy hits the GPU harder than most games or PR.
Just a quick one since you wrote the guide on NVFlash which worked a treat thank you. Do you know of anyone who flashed KNP 1000W BIOS to their 3090 FTW3 Ultra P5? I know you don't recommend it and you are more like against it, but I just wanted to give it a try and then flash back I have very strong cooling. Do you know which BIOS is the one that I need to flash to on the TechPowerUp, and will it work like the XC3 (as in displayport etc matches?) I understand that PCI-E might eat 80W or so, but it's okay since my X299 EVGA Dark has supplementary 6-pin power. Thanks in advance and I appreciate the help
Yeah. Someone contacted me about it, and I posted about it here (without naming them). Their power limited card pulled over 90W (93W continuous IIRC, not spikes) on the PCIE slot to achieve 500W total power draw and clocked worse than with the XC3 VBIOS. They use the XC3 VBIOS and get better results.
Post 3215 in this thread has a guide with links for the XC3. I'm on a cellphone atm so finding it isn't easy. If you're looking for the unlocked KP 1000W VBIOS, it was linked several times in this thread but I didn't take note of what page / post.
Thanks. I decided NOT to go for it, if I had MSI X Trio then I would but 90W power draw for no gain or potential frying is not what I want. I'm 29th on TimeSpy now anyway and score differences are like 200 or less between all of them so it's all margin of error. Even GPUs (Kingpins which boost to 2280 and sustain 2200) are about the same what I currently have. Like it's 100 points off so 22600 instead of 22500, so I can confirm with great confidence that XC3 BIOS fixes issues for this GPU for now, and if we actually had a proper 500W BIOS it would perform a little better I think but other than that it's fairly decent. Still need to verify via iCuE how much GPU is eating power wise.

esschallert ... EDIT: Contacted the German EVGA support on Facebook as well as on ticket with the RMA. So for Germany (and for the general EU) there isn't a replacement program yet for the power balance issue. However I explained the problem in detail and I was assured that they test the new card before it is shipped out so the card which I should receive should not have the power balance issue and should do the normal 450 Watt (without XOC). My current card, which died. Did only a maximum of around 390 Watt but in general more between 370-380 Watt. The weird thing with my card was also that despite setting the OC to 100 or 200 MHz on the core. It would peak at that and also report this as maximum clock in PR but the average clock throughout the benchmark was around 1850-1890 MHz (Watercooled with temps around 35-39 °C)
They totally lied. I RMA my card because she was doing 80W on PCIe and only 400W max (with 500W bios). The replacement card was doing 80W PCIe and 420-425W max on 500W bios. That was 3 days ago. I got ride of the evga card right after that, sold for the price I bought it 4 months ago. Won't touch that again.
You're from Europe/German?
France yes.

PSA: if you RMA’d your card that was on a hybrid kit and didn’t peel the Mylar washers off the 4 screwholes with grounding on the PCB before sending it in: EVGA does not have extras to send out. Basically these washers keep the metal grounding around the screwholes in the PCB (4 gpu die screws) safe from physical damage as you mount the coldplate with the 4 spring screws. They also provide a bit of electrical insulation. The washers are .15 mm or .0059 in Thick 3.8 mm or .15 in inside diameter 10 mm or .39 in outside diameter** **from evga rep on phone measuring one in front of him https://www.mcmaster.com/contact that’s freaking only game in town they’ll sell a 10 pack of high heat non conductive plastic polyimide washers in that size (within tolerance) for 8 bucks. They are *not* adhesive like EVGA’s. That doesn’t matter. Those are an EVGA custom order and they have 0 extra. I asked.

This is what i've been saying for over a week. I did RMA mine which was doing 380-410W on 500W bios (2012XXXXXX - red lips). The new card that arrived was only able to do 420-425 on 500W bios (2014XXXXXX - black lips). To be honest most ppl buying 3090 don't even overclock or bother to check for proper TDP on XOC bios. I'm pretty sure the card that are working are the exception and the one the are defect the "norm". All the card have a problem in load balance because the card believe it's taking too much from PCIe slot (which is btw true). And all the card that are able to do around 500W take way fu**ing too much on PCIe (I'll call those defect card). I got rid of mine... managed to sell it because I managed to grab a Strix 2 months ago (yes it took 2 months for evga to read all my tickets and approve an RMA which lead to a dud card again). I'm done with evga ever period. When you see this lvl of not caring about how they failed with this GPU and see how much it cost, you can be pretty sure that if they fu**up again on something else (which will most likely be less expensive), they won't bother. Just turn yourself off EVGA, don't buy again. And if possible sell your GPU and buy any other regular 3090, it will do better.

Please show the finding from iCuE. XC3 I can observe MAX 200W for each pins but psu well he is report very slowly so I am not know total MAX and balance but certainly he not pull 600W so balance must really crazy. In this bios I have not observe slot more then 70W. I try some other bios and still XC3 most strong for PR.

CPU does little to nothing for port Royal scores and I already had a 3900x lol Iv seen maybe 10-20 points higher when I switched. same with the ram I was running already had very fast CAS ram timing. Also 10c lower when it was already at 55c did not boost my avg core clock up 100 points it was my power headroom. So yes this is a good comparison from stock form to 500 watts.

so you RMAd before this new RMA program was even announced and are trying to say the new cards from this RMA program don't address the PL flaw? I have an active RMA awaiting shipment from EVGA that was submitted after Jacob announced this program last week, and the card thats coming in to me is a completely different Product # than the previous 3 3090s I've had, indicating a tangible hardware shift. I expect this card to be the one with the white 8A fuse on the PCIe slot as opposed to the original 10A (which wouldn't be the only hardware change but is the easiest way to tell with the naked eye prior to installation). I also imagine that since the hydrocoppers finally were released around the same time as Jacobs announcement, and are pictured with the 8A fuse, AND hit the power target with the 500w xoc bios, that these are the same PCB, and that the PL issue was in fact the real reason for the hydrocopper delay (among possibly other block machining issues).

disagree. but why dont you just test with the same cpu, same ram, and same thermal arrangement as your 15k PR score but with the PL set at 100% instead of 500w. That'd be the fairest comparison and would show a true expectation of what a pure power increase can yield. I'd guess you'd score around 14.5k.

sure here is a bone stock 100% power test with a avg 50c temp same specs as my 15k run https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/59695421? And here is one with a +150 core +800 mem 100% power https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/59695528? I live in cali so weather is not on my side to have the same ambient temps as my 44c run 15k but its within 6c

got it - thanks for taking the time to do that, as i know you don't owe me or anyone else here any of your time. but yeah your second score looks a lot more like what I'd expect. Not sure what your core and mem offsets were for your 15k score, but yeah, with a 44 average temp and comparable offsets, with only ~50-80 less watts, I'd imagine you'd only drop about 5-600 off that 15k score.

No prob man, my 15k score was same mem and core was +30 more but with the power limiting I didnt see a score increase past +150 on 100% power this was avg 440ish watts so its a almost 1000 point difference with the extra 17% power and being able to clock 120 hz core higher not 500-600. 6c doesn't make THAT big of a difference when ur already avg 50c on water

I'm in somewhat the same boat as you and wondering if I should RMA or not - I do not want to be w/o my card for weeks or a month+...but thinking it's worth it long term. Very interested to see how your RMA turns out. I've been following this thread for a while and just recently tried the XC3 Bios. - Card on air with open window in cold climate...spent a couple days trying to max out PR score and NEVER got to even 13,800 on the XOC Bios (13,746 was my best with fans cranked to 100). - Tried the XC3 Bios and I've already been able to get a 14,350+...and that is after just a couple runs the other day before I had to leave for a trip. I'm confident I can get to 14,500+ if I get a cold enough morning with some additional OC dialing in. I use the normal OC Bios Jacob posted with this thread for Daily use; XC3 just for benchmarking as I don't like not being able to read accurate Sensor data...plus some funky fan bugs. With the XOC 500Watt I was hardly ever getting over 1.00 volts...was always bouncing around the high 800s - 900s per X1 and GPU-Z. I was able to get a bit more out of it using AB and a custom volt curve. However, seeing XC3 instantly explode my PR score by 600 points w/o even trying shows that I'm leaving a ton of performance on the table with my current card. I get that a 13,700 vs a 14,500 is what maybe ~5fps or so in games...but that's what we spent the extra cash on the FTW3 Ultra for (that extra little bit of performance over a lower tier 3090).

And if possible sell your GPU and buy any other regular 3090, it will do better.
so you RMAd before this new RMA program was even announced and are trying to say the new cards from this RMA program don't address the PL flaw?
Has your gpu shipped or is it still pending? They’ve had my gpu (3090OC@evga.com rma) since 3/12 last Friday and as of today, 3/19, it still hasn’t shipped. Called evga and apparently they’re waiting on inventory of these cards. I’m getting kinda heated because I wouldn’t have torn down my gpu from a hybrid to remount the air cooler last Wednesday, 3/10, to send it in Thursday to arrive Friday except for “cards start shipping next week” from Jacob freeman...well what was my big rush? It’s Friday and they still haven’t gotten inventory of these cards? I am not appreciating this down-time. Basically looking at 2-3 weeks of downtime the way this is headed.

At least they answered you and you are guaranteed in the process that it will probably bring a video card that works. The worst is who is on the other side of the world who is not even answered by Jacob and his team. I´m just tired of all the confusion with this card. I will think twice before buying EVGA again.

Oh no, Jacob is ignoring me now and has plenty of times, the first time I got him to acknowledge an issue verbally about this bios was after I spoke to Stephen from gamers nexus via email, and he forwarded me to Jacob asking him to address my concerns about the bios. This was after mad tweets mad posts etc...He’s currently ignoring me, earlier this week it was “still planning on shipping those out this week!” Now that’s it’s Friday and they haven’t, it’s radio silence. The info I have is from calling in; I haven’t been paying attention what’s going on with people getting ignored? To whomever flagged this post: Do you want screenshot evidence of me posting/tweeting, or screenshots of the emails back in November? How about screenshots from today? There’s no cursing, why’s the post approval pending?

As I understand it though, they’re just a behind on getting the inventory shipped to them. Supposed to be this week, just didn’t happen that way it would seem.

So to confirm this is for a Power Balance Issue RMA you got approved by e-mailing address provided via Jacob's post? New to RMA process with EVGA but seems you can pay extra for faster return shipping. Assuming the Dates provided to you are accurate and they ship when they indicate...you're looking at what 9/10 day total time (figure if you overnighted it to EVGA you pulled it from system 15th/16th) without your card? Sorry to bug you just trying to figure out how long I'd be w/o a card as having same issues with 3090 FTW3 Ultra. Ten days is actually less that I feared...assuming someone is willing to pay for the overnight. Good luck - hope you are up and running with 500watts and 2200clock speeds on the 23rd :-)

Who knows, they’re waiting on inventory as I just said....they’ve had my card since 3/12 it’s 3/19 maybe the process will speed up once they get that 1st shipment in and if they can get another before that one runs out but it’s rough right now. Might be fine in a week. It takes 1 day for ground shipping to reach evga to and from me. They’ve still had it since 3/12. This situation could change. Hope that helps. Edit: (yes for power balanced rma).

For those in US/CA with cards already received (prepairing to ship), the replacements will start shipping today. For those in other regions, we are still working on this. If you emailed 3090oc@evga.com you are already in queue.
