US now has the highest number of cases, passing Italy and China. Hoping it passes it's peak soon, no idea how much higher it'll get. I have family on RA drugs that weaken the immune system I'm worried about.

Tell them to take Vitamin D and Zinc supplements - both help support the immune system.
 

Corona virus isn't the worst virus we have to worry about at the moment. I just heard that a new unknown virus was released in one of the hospitals in Texas somewhere. Survival rate is only 20%.

I think everyone can agree that a 50% survival rate means that one person dies for every person that survives.  So if 100 people are infected and the survival rate is 50%, then 50 people will die and 50 people will survive.  But lets say only ten people have either died or survived the virus, then with a 50% survival rate by the time 5 people die there theoretically would be 5 people that survived with 90 people that are still infected; so when you apply your calculations relative to those numbers you get a 95% survival rate.  When I apply my math it is 5 survived / (5 dead + 5 survived) = 50% survival rate which matches the expected 1 person survives for every 1 person that dies.  That is how you know my calculation is correct for determining the survival rate when the pandemic is ongoing and when it is over, and yours is correct only for when the pandemic is over.

Holy crap.. news conference on tv right now, they are extending another 30 days trying to stop the spread for entire US, and Dr Fauci and Dr Berkz just said (and showed graphics) that based on their modeling, the US is looking at 100,000 to 200,000 dead over the next few weeks, and that's IF people help stop the spread of infection by staying home / social distancing etc.. Without that mitigation, the numbers would be 1.5 to 2.2 million dead. That sounds like a pretty damn good argument to stay home to me.
 

I am still at work where I live here in Wisconsin and the they have established guide lines at work to stop the spreading.

🤦. You contain it by finding a medication that stops the spread. That's how china is back to normal. They have it. Even if you contain the virus other people coming to the states in the near future will have it, and we are back to the beginning🙄.

You believe China? They already recorded people being removed against their will from hospitals because they don't want to report new infections.
 
Edit: Also healthy people need to wear masks and gloves too, because if they contract it, they will end up spreading it. Even if they're not at a risk of dying as easily, it's about playing your part.
