Should we be seeing a BIOS updates for EVGA X299 boards for the new Gen of Intel processors?

I have a X299 dark that I won on the X58 rewind comp at the start of this year been sat in its box since then

I remember Now!, you are going to really like the Dark once you get it up and running.

fingers crossed that they are supported, really liked the new specs with 9800X soldered IHS and increased PCI-E lanes

It would be really weird if they solder i9-9900K and left successor of Skylake-X with thermal paste.
Xtreme platform is for enthusiasts more than Z chipset. No matter on performance.

I'm actually looking into getting this Basin Falls refresh. My question is: with Intel stating that these all have up to 68 PCIE 3.0 lanes, can the EVGA X299 FTW K that I have use both X16 slots at X16 when any of the non-DMI 3.0 PCIE slots are populated? Or are we still stuck at X8 shared? (SLI with a RAID card and a 900P have me asking this question)
 

Wow,, through all of the drama and what not with PT getting called out on their testing I totally missed these being a higher lane count. If the X299 Dark gets an bios update and will unlock being able to fully use both M.2 slots and both U.2 ports at the same time and can still achieve an everyday clock of 4.8ghs or greater on the 14 core chip then I (as I sneak a peak at my system while typing this) will be kicking my 7940x to the curb

While everything else in that cart above is "CPU" related they hid behind "Platform" for the PCIe 3.0 Lanes - Up To 68. When in reality real world ACTUAL CPU lanes is still sitting at 44. They just made all the CPUs from the 8 core to 16 core 44 lane units

I believe a lot of owners of previous Skylake-X will want to upgrade.
Newer was such big difference between processors on same socket.
28 PCI-E lanes vs 68 PCI-E lanes.
I must check specifications of every model.
 

If you read it they are saying the "Platform" can do 68 lanes but all I have seen is they are still only at 44 lanes on the actual CPU (see my post above)

I will also add if you weren’t already aware (like I wasn’t before I joined this forum)....

Only the CPU pcie lanes may be used for graphics cards. The chipset pcie lanes can not be used for graphics, usually they are for stuff like m.2, u.2 ect.

What this effectively means is that any SLI will bottleneck on the brand new just released “best processor for gaming” 9900K (Intel marketing lol).

The 9900K has 16 CPU pcie lanes.

In SLI, pcie bandwidth goes from x16 to x8 on both pcie slots. This was demonstrated by Steve from GamerNexus. He concluded a 16% performance loss by going from x16 to x8.

So if you want x16 and x16 with 2 cards, you need a processor with more than 16 pcie lanes. Enter the socket 2066 chips. These are known as Skylake X or Basin Falls for the 7800X - 7980XE iterations released in late 2017. The Brand new processors just announced are the Skylake X refresh or Basin Falls refresh. They are supposed to be released in November.

In the TEAMEVGA twitch broadcast that happens every Friday from 3pm to 4pm Pacific Time....

I asked Jacob in chat if the new Skylake X refresh chips would be supported on the X299 Dark motherboard and he confirmed it.

It's not that bad as it seems by some AMD Fanboy/Girls bound Utubers!!! It doesn't matter this day what intel put as a Tim ………. 

Heh, is this an situation where they put the decimal point in the wrong place when dictating the thickness spec and now it is WAY too late to fix it
