It seems like years ago I posted that this build was going to happen!!! Unfortunately, each design had an issue (mere fractions of millimeters off on spec's) and had to be re-designed 15 times. Fortunately this is being built for a co-worker and he anxiously awaits the fermis...so I had some time. But the fermi launch is drawing near so I had better get moving!!! If you recall my attempt was to build a full tower case that holds two 360 Fesser rads, have excellent cable management, removable mobo tray, the ability to invert the mobo...all out of acrylic. The case ended up being 25.5" tall x 24" deep x 12" wide. It can hold two fesser 360's or 480's in the bottom or if we go with thinner rads it can hold 4 total rads. Two 480's in the bottom and two 360's in the top. It is configured to hold two 5.25 bay reservoirs like the Typhoon III. It hold 5 hd's and has four 5.25 bays for burners and fan controllers. There is many holes cut for cable management. Each is equal on each side for flipping the mobo. The case is made out of aluminum angle for a frame using 3/4"x 3/4" x 1/6" thick angle for the uprights and 1/2"x 1/2" x 1/16" for the cross beams. All corners were angle cut in the frame using a miter saw and drill press for screw holes, all screws are 6-32 threaded. Designed out of Google Sketchup, transferred to Corel Draw 4 and output to laser. This case will also be confgured to hold the 4 way Classy as well as the dual cpu mobo...anyone have spec's on the new dual cpu mobo? if anyone get's one can I borrow it? I'll give it back..... Components Updated!!! more are starting roll in!!! more on the way!!! This is the prototype (to make sure everything fits) and is all smoked brown acrylic. The paper is still on for protection. The final build will be Black, Red and Smoked Gray. There is one 140mm fan in front and 3 on top. The big rectangle hole is where the removable mobo tray will be. More pic's and updates to come!!! Enjoy!!! and thank you for looking!!! Special thanks to cryptospartan for making be go bigger!!! Should have listened to you the first time!!!

Here's how far I got with the test case... I used 3/4" angle to hold the removable mobo panels in place. The back I/O is from Mountain Mods. So far the only mess up has been with this piece. The standoffs needed to be 3mm lower and 1mm farther away from the back I/O panel..had to re-do!! Using 1/2" standoffs Used 1/2" by 1/8" thick angle for the mobo mount. Drilled holes on one side for 6-32 screws and threaded them. Other side were drilled 4mm Mounted on the middle floor Corner cut angle view holding the frame together. Holding up the middle and top floors The moment of truth...will the removable mobo fit???? And it does!!!!!! WOOOOOT!!!! Now will it flip????? Inverted ATX style!!! And it does as well!!!!!!! SWEEEEET!!!! CPU power cable cut out... There will be aluminum channel to guide the mobo...just don't have it yet tiny hole for fan wires or cold cathodes Putting it all together to make sure everything fits...rad mounts, HD mounts, Res mounts, DVD Drive mounts, and false wall for cable management. Nice a roomy for all cables!!!! False wall cut outs match the mobo tray.. Well, it looks like everything fits nicely, just a few issues that were fixed. Now to order the acrylic for the real build!!! Thank you for taking a look and thank you for your comments!!! Any questions feel free to ask!! And thank you for whomever gave me a Blue Ribbon!!!

Thanks Halo!!! the aluminum angle is way better to work with. It has more strength and is much lighter. I have no idea why I didn't go this route on previous builds??? Using 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/16" thick and 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/16" thick aluminum angle. Bought a cheap Craftsman miter saw and a $40 metal cutting blade.

Hey Yerbuddy!!! thank you! I've been patiently waiting for this to come around too. Each time I tried to make it into a much narrower case and I was mere millimeters off..needed more room in width. Cryptospartan suggested to just go big, so I did and it finally all worked out. So it's been 4 months of design work...phew!!! Im ordering the acrylic for the real build tonight and should get it all going next weekend. My co worker is hoping to get his hands on three Fermis at launch for this build...let's hope he can!!! Seth, need to do a bit of modifying, not having the removable mobo tray and pivoting the mobo up like the Raven..what do you think?

Will do. Acrylic's been ordered. I went for several smaller pieces this time as each one will be painted black. Much easier than painting a 24" x 48" piece!!! Need to order a lot more screws too!!! Im talking with a shop on Monday to perform powder coatin on the aluminum angle. We'll see what price they can do it for...hopefully cheap!
