WOW GC, looks really good. A nice big case just like the one I dream about. I love big cases! LOL

Maybe if you sell some of these you will be able to afford some new parts
How much you plan on selling these? That is if you are going to sell any?

Thanks guy's!!! Very much appreciated!!!

Yeah, I would like to be able to fill this up one up with some liquid for myself, but im having way too much fun building the cases. Im eagerly awaiting the Fluorescent Red acrylic. Hopefully it will be here by Friday so I can get started on it.

Not sure what color fans to put in it....I may go with some white led's since it's so dark.

@DMIINC, LOL!!!! yes, it's nice to have, saves hundreds of hours from using a dremel or other power tool. This is what I should have got....small CNC Plazma to cut metal..torchmate it's $2,300 for the table and will be my next purchase in the future.

thanks again!!!! off to the man room for more work!!!!

Ok, back from vacation!!! I got the acrylic in for the real build and painted one side black. I'll post pic's later tomorrow.

I had some huge issues with the black oxide screws I bought. They arrived all brown and rusted and it looked like someone sprayed WD-40 in the bag to make them look good. I was sent some new ones 2nd day air and behold... most of them were rusted too...ARGHHHH!!!! Were talking $160 in screws and nuts!!!!!!

I'll tell you where I bought them at after I hear back from the company tomorrow....

These were the good ones!!!

So it looks like I'll have to order more...from somewhere else like Mc Master Carr!!!

Sick build GC! I saw it when you originally posted, but i guess i forgot to comment.

That sucks about the screws... I have heard good things about McMaster Carr. You should use them. Nateman does, and he loves them. I also just made my first order from them.

Hey, is there any way you could give me dimensions for some basic stuff? (no i don't want your whole case/ or am i trying to steal it). I would love it if i could get some 3.5" bay, 5.25" bay, psu bracket, mobo tray, and gpu bracket dimensions. I would really need screw distance and alignment too if thats ok. If you can't/won't i understand, but it would be cool if you could.

Yeah I was buying from MC Master until this time....ooops!!!

Yeah, not a problem on dimensions, more than happy to help!!!

Im trying to upload all my stuff to the Sketch Up Warehouse under Gone Cruising so people can import them into their drawings...just can't remember my password...LOL!!!

but for now I can pm the files to you. They will be actual drawings that you can use as a template or change around the shape of them. I'll send them tomorrow...

Thanks guy's!!!

Here's some nice clean acrylic....getting painted!!!!

Im hoping the red matches the rest of the case!!!!! it looks kind of orange...

I went gloss black for the interior parts. 1/8" fluorescent red

And flat black for the exterior of the case. 1/4" fluorescent red.

I chose smaller pieces of 12" x 24" (easier to paint) The large piece is for the front and back as it's 25.5" tall!

I now have a headache from all the fumes!!!

Thank you all for your kind comments!!!!

Well for this case it's going to be somewhere around what MM's cases sell for (a lot of acrylic), but a little cheaper. There are other designs in the works (cheaper ones), just wish I had more time!!!

Were going to be hitting you up with some sleeving for this build real soon. Any chance we can send you a psu and have you sleeve it? we would like the 24 pin power done, but it's not modular or do you do that?

Im off to redesign the front to fit another 5.25 bay. We ran out of room. 4 bays for the Typhoon res/pumps, 2 for Blue Ray Burners, 2 for fan controllers, and the one for the ECP (forgot about that)

Thank you Swalker, Seth and Halo

@ Halo, I see you found my one build at Extreme!!! thank you for the compliment!!!

Update:

Just sent 160 feet of aluminum angle to get black anodized (minimum qty. they accept). This will take about 5 days to get done. In the mean time I am re-designing the HD, res, and dvd drive mounts to allow the front panel to be easily removed. Right now all of them are mounted to the front acrylic piece. I think I have it worked out.

I'll be drawing it up for the next few days then start making the cuts just in time for the aluminum to arrive.

see ya in a few days!!!!

thanks!!!

Re:Acrylic Full Tower Build 2010/03/29 01:02:18 (permalink)
Thank you guy's!!! Much appreciate the comments!!!

@Halo, this case uses 28 feet of aluminum angle. I should be getting back the aluminum in a few days, all 160 feet. I think I can make more cases....LOL!!! I do have others in the works, but this one is priority!!!

Update:

I decided to change how the dvd, HD, reservoir cages mount. Originally they mounted to the front panel, now they mount from top to bottom. I also decided to make the top and bottom compartments equal, so now you can mount 4 total rads in the case. Although no Fessers can fit in the top, must have thinner rads. It is also possible to run two PSU's as long as the rads used are not too thick!!

Doing this I had to increase the height by an inch, so now its 26.5" tall. And now has 10 5.25 bays!!!

Here are some sketch up drawings of different colors (great thing about acrylic...variety of colors)....and the one on the end is the next build....micro box.
