TahoeDust Well....I just got done installing the kit on the card. I have not installed it into my machine yet. It seems like I have an awful lot of hardware left. Should that be the case?
Since it comes with replacement screws, I would hope so. We can't see what you're looking at. As to another question you asked, Precision has nothing to do with being able to control the fan headers on your mother board. You'll need to either set a manual speed for the PUMP using DC control as the PUMP is not PWM controlled or use a utility like SpeedFan to control the fan header.

Really quite happy. Highest temp I have been able to get is 61c with an hour run of Furmark or Heaven. Also...the card is now 100% stable at 2050MHz...all in literal silence.

TahoeDust Thanks. I checked out the pictures. I guess I got lucky because I do not have any audible pump noise. By default is the pump running at max? With it running off one of the fan headers, I thought maybe I could adjust pump speed with PrecisionX. Also, is there any reason to flash the bios of the card to the FTW3 Hybrid bios? I thought I read somewhere that some have done that. Sorry for the newbish questions. I promise I kind of know what I am doing...haha. Also, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. It helped save me from some of the same issues others had.

Good to hear you have a silent pump and that all is working well. Yes, pump runs at 100% by default. Noticing the buzzing sound in my case may be down to other factors too. I live in a very quiet neighborhood in the suburbs plus I have the case on my desk right next to my monitor (just 30cm away from me). The fact that everything is housed in a case with a mesh front (meshify C) doesn't help much either. I found that my sweet spot for inaudible operation is 70%. Don't know if flashing the card with the FTW3 Hybrid bios offers you anything, I'll let the more experienced members reply to that. I don't think that XOC will offer anything extra if you do it. As I wrote previously, I had flashed the slave bios with the Asus Strix OC vbios to be able to control the pump through AI Suite.

So, I've been thinking about grabbing this kit even after reading this whole thread about issues. Is it safe to say the coolers are good now assuming a careful install? Would really love to get this kit as my current case seems to be choking my FTW3. (getting temps up to 80)

Yeah.. just check for loose metal on the end of the shroud before putting it on. Make sure its snapped into place. If it fails evga will take care of you.

Doing my kit this weekend after having it sitting in box since xmas. I will post back on results on before and after clocks/benchmarks. Not envisaging problems given I have read all posts regarding issues other have posted so will be extremely vigilant installing. Anyone got thoughts on mounting RAD out side rear of case instead of inside? I'm talking about the rear vent instead of inside case where its illustrated in the instructions, Yeah I know won't be able to put side case side panel on due to hoses but I'm not to fussed about noise as game with headphones most of the time. It will only be temporary until I get time to rework entire cooling. Thanks

Put the radiator the position the way manual suggested. The fan has the best static pressure if pushed closet to the radiator. And I don't have a problem with the stock fan, somehow the stock fan even outperforms Noctua NF-F12 under the same noise level which means they all perform at max speed. Core temp never gets beyond 50C under heavy load, memory temp never gets 60C and power temp barely reaches 60C with stock fan profile.

Just be extra extra careful when putting the shroud, it should slide relatively easy once you have everything installed properly. Re-check the metal grill again to ensure that it's properly seated in its tabs. Once that's done, make sure you align the part of the shroud where the hose guide and the fan plug nearest the black tape where the shroud is. Once those two align check the other fan plug on the side and it should slide down nice and easy. Good luck and keep us posted! As for the mounting, placing it as an exhaust works perfectly, no need to put it outside. As for the hose not letting you close up the side panel, you should be able to since I was able to push / shape it a little and fit it inside the H400i which is only an MATX/MITX case. Now if you're using an SFF case that's another topic (Though I did fit it inside a Project MATX case which is only 20 liters).

Has this actually happened to anyone? I think you're making a bigger deal out of it than it really is. A lot of cases only have about an inch and a half of clearance between the bottom of the radiator and the top 16x pcie slot, which forces the hoses to really press up against the side panel. I've mounted the radiator with the hoses up top on three different hybrid cards and never had any issues at all. Even if I did I'm sure it would be covered under warranty.

EVGA are pretty firm about the orientation of the RAD and do state the hoses should be down the bottom to avoid air bubbles getting into hoses nullifying the effectiveness of the pump.

Liquid evaporation/permeation will probably happen eventually with any CLC but I'm sure you'll hear air getting into the lines (gurgling/bubbling) and see temperature increases before you'd ever have to worry about a pump failing due to no liquid at all. Just don't ignore the signs if something seems off and you'll probably be good :)

Agreed. I'm not saying it isn't possible at all; I just don't think it's an all caps with exclamation points kind of situation. In the last manual I read for a hybrid kit it simply said they "recommend" mounting the radiator with the connections at the bottom, and they left it at that. Obviously if there's even the slightest possibility that going against that could have a detrimental impact they're going to say that's their recommendation, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to have a complete meltdown if you don't do it that way.

RMA for most of the users was the way. Some cases (like myself), I slapped the Air Cooler back and manage to get higher then the stock speeds, but the Hybrid Kit messed up the voltagem controller on my GPU (it won't past 1.000mV during gaming). Did your kit came with the back grill loose as well?

We're you able to use the guides here or did you find out about this after you installed the cooler? Pietro is right, RMA is the way to go!

Hello everybody. I received my new Hybrid kit yesterday (05APR).
I will try to install on my defective 1080Ti to see if i can O.C. normally (remember that the voltage controller on my 1080Ti was damage from the previous kit, but it can still clock up to 1900Mhz) and report back here.

Not yet. Shipping from Brazil to US is crazing nuts expensive. I might do it in the end of this month.

Thanks mark I think things are going to be fine now. I did some testing on the GPU with the pump and VRM heatsink only (didn't install the shroud yet). It's performing very nice, and the pump is very silent IMO. Of course I didn't do any proper testing, but I was able to run Furmark, Valley, Firestrike, Superposition in a set of different configs and didn't saw temps over 50ºC (couldn't make a torture test because I didn't have the time). Edit: Forgot to tell: It's O.C. as it was with the Air Cooler (despite the voltage controller not working proper, in 1080p when the FPS is over 120fps it manages to get 1.050mV and 2000Mhz at 42ºC~). Odd thing. When the FPS is very very very high, the card manages to get the voltage that it should in any situation. Pics on how it's looking like in my RIG now:

I've kept my eye on this thread for a long time and got a good deal on a Hybrid Kit. Installed it and my GPU is locked at base clock, temps are great, installation was easy and smooth. I ensured I taped the corner as suggested by someone in earlier posts and the metallic mesh from the shroud I ensured was locked correctly in its casing What I've noticed though is that Precision XoC loves to go "unresponsive" or "crash" when trying to change stuff around but also on the top right of the Precision XOC screen the name of the GPU instead of being white is red! I have sent a note to tech support I really hope there is a solution without having to RMA it wouldn't just help me but I guess many others

PietroBR In case anyone is interested, here is the GPU-Z log of 01h30m running Firestrike (1080p). Graphic Test 01 and 02 in loop. Temps were stable around 42/43ºC, but again, since my GPU is not properly reaching the voltage as it should (there some tabs where you will see "10.xxx", that's when the GPU manage to get past 1.0mV).
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DIcOkCjsQsKFFviRmYB9qOfZyGt-h260bZJJ9ESR-gw/edit?usp=sharing
>ADVICE< It has 5583 columns. So take your time.
When running Firestrike, can you do a custom run (choose graphics test 1 or 2 only) instead and loop it (If you have a paid version)? That would at least show a sustained load on your card versus having the dips during the change in benchmark tests (graphics test 1, 2, physics test, and combined)!

Howdy y’all, well I wish I would have seen this forum sooner. I’m experiencing 100% same issues as OP. I purchased my kit from EVGA and had it delivered 3/28. At first the instal looked promising, didnt notice anything as temps were great. However, I ran BF1 and did not notice my usual FPS I was getting on stock. Thought I’d open up precision x to OC and see if it improves my FPS, and all went to hell. Experienced stutters, couldn’t use computer for good 20sec to upto 2 min before precision x properly opened, when it did I tried to make a change, completely rendered my computer useless. Had to hard reboot. Turned on computer, and now I’m noticing my computer no longer fast boots upon entering my password to login. It used to be fast, instantly load all startup apps. Now the screen turns black periodically. I have to leave it untouched for a few min. I’m also experiencing stock mhz, OC doesn’t change anything. Followed all suggestions here same results. Uninstalled precision x, clean windows instal and installed msi afterburner and same issues as precision x. Now I’m convinced it’s not precision x but rather any software that attempts to OC card or accessed the cards OC because even just clicking on “default” button to bring everything to default, renders the card ineffective.
Called EVGA, told them about this issue and forum and they reported they show no issues with this hybrid cooler even though I told them about this forum... they RMA my cooler. Will report back when I get it in a few days.
Also, I ordered new thermal pads so I can install stock cooler and see if it restores everything back to normal. Will report back.

Also my GPU clocks are locked at 1569MHz even with the OC settings I used to use stock which would pull me to 2100

Put the original cooler back on your card and see if your card comes good. Can't believe nothing concrete has come out of EVGA about this yet and from the sounds of they are still in denial. I mean people are still reporting issues 6 months on.

mark_thaddeus When running Firestrike, can you do a custom run (choose graphics test 1 or 2 only) instead and loop it (If you have a paid version)? That would at least show a sustained load on your card versus having the dips during the change in benchmark tests (graphics test 1, 2, physics test, and combined)!
Yup. I did only the graphics cards run in loop at window mode (at the first line I said that ). Raiyuj I've kept my eye on this thread for a long time and got a good deal on a Hybrid Kit.
Sorry to hear it Raiyuj, Try putting your air cooler back and see if your card can still overclock to higher clock than 1569Mhz (mine did, but the voltage controller was messed up somehow). Other than that, you can already prepare to RMA your Hybrid kit to EVGA, and possibly your GPU as well. texasdoesitbest Also my GPU clocks are locked at 1569MHz even with the OC settings I used to use stock which would pull me to 2100
If even putting back the stock air cooler your card still is clocking at 1569Mhz, then both the Hybrid kit and the card must be RMAed unfortunatly.

Hey guys! So I finally got my kit installed and was successful! I did notice the metal on the shroud was a tiny bit lose so the first thing I did was clip it tight. I was also able put one of those tiny pads on the led header near the power ports. I did end up losing one of them as it disappeared when I was using the tweezers to apply it but I think I'm ok with one. Install took much longer than I expected (around 2 hours because I was being really careful). All I can say is make sure you follow the instructions and the tips people on here have posted (most importantly check the metal piece on the shroud and make sure there is the electric tape on one side) and you should be just fine. My card just ran Firestrike boosting all the way to 1987 and never breaking 45 degrees. Can't wait to push this card now! I do have a question though, I'm assuming there is no way for precision to detect my card as a hybrid? It's kind of weird not being able to control the fan profiles. :) Other than that, thanks to everyone who contributed to this post. It probably saved me a headache.
