He got that block back in Novemberish based on the dates he gave? Isn't that an XC3 or reference block? Chances are it was rushed, wasn't there some complaints about it not even cooling chokes or something? The FTW3 blocks have taken so much longer its possible things like this have been fixed, hence the constant delays. EDIT yeah checked post history, hes running an XC3.

Woh, jump the shark much?  Don't bash a product line or an entire company due to a single reported issue.  Could be a problem with the block for sure, could be a card that was slightly different than the reference EK was provided, could be user issues.  The thing is you can't make a sweeping conclusion off one report and one piece.  I looked and couldn't find any more issues reported...so unless I'm missing something this very well could have been a user with trash between the standoff and block with as little information we have available.  And the fact that the user irreparably modified the block we will never know.  But I'll certainly be keeping my eyes open.

There are plenty of other problems with ek products all over that justify this thought process. Try searching for reports of their fluid, their nickel flaking or just about anything else that could go wrong with their products and I'm sure it will become clear to you. Top that off with the terrible customer service who can and will always find a way to blame the user for all of it. I personally dealt with and will never use another ek product in my loop.

First I'm hearing of this. Of course with any product line there's going to be a small % of product that gets past QC with some issue or other, that's to be expected, but I have heard zero reports of pervasive quality issues with EK - quite the opposite in fact, they are known for quality.

As far as their customer service goes, my experience with EKWB over the last couple of months has been very good, even better than I expected it to be.

One report of an issue that hasn't impacted thousands of others with the exact same product would appear to be an exception rather than the rule. If you choose to see it otherwise, that's up to you.

Yes a very small percentage of their customers have had issues.  EKWB is not the only company that has had issues with nickel plating flaking off their water blocks.  Just about every water block manufacturer has forum posts and reddit posts and facebook group posts form people with nickel flaking off their water blocks.  At least EKWB will replace the block or re nickel plate the block for free under warranty unlike some other water block manufacturers.  Sometimes the people with the flaking nickel plating issues admit to using incompatible fluids or incompatible chemicals with the block.

Most of the issues with EK fluid are due to improper loop preparation/improper cleaning procedures and using incompatible metals or other incompatible materials.  Is it really EK's fault when a customer can't be bothered to read instructions for specialty fluids?  THere are other brands of fluids that have a lot more frequent issues with the color falling out and I see a lot less complaining about them than EKWB fluids.

The simple face is every water block manufacturer has had issues and every water cooling fluid manufacturer has had issues.  Yet people decided to focus on particular manufacturers and constantly complain about it like a dog that won't let go of a bone. lol

I have the same block! Got it a few months ago. I haven’t seen over a 8c delta while gaming etc.

Optimus may take forever but they put out quality stuff that performs well.

Well tomorrow is the day, the original estimate for EK FTW3 block availability. Anyone who got a late December email notification, did you get any further updates from EK? Nothing here. I fully expect them to delay this again.

Not a word. Order still shows as "processing pre-order". According to EKWB, my order is 15th in line for the block and 5th in line for the back plate, so I'm certainly one of the earlier orders.

The most recent update I had was dated December 22nd which stated that although they expected to have a batch available the next week (so still in December), that "unfortunately, due to the prolonged processing times at the moment, your order will most probably be shipped out in the first week of January".

The first week of January I will assume means the first working week, so that would be up to Friday 8th January... I haven't given up hope yet.

I’m number 60 or so on the list. I’m hoping that the first 300 or so blocks go out in the first shipment sometime this week.

The longer it takes other companys have also the products in place and available.

Don't know my number in the queue but ekwb told me mid jan.
If alphacool wins the race and have something available i will cancel my order.

Let's cross fingers ekwb will manage to get this block available.

edit:
Test from Igorlabs in english. Not for FTW3 but for Ref.
https://www.igorslab.de/e...est-340-watt-ice-cold/
So the cooler ist very good performing.

But i think ekwb could be better. Looks more powerfull with this full block with VRM.

Hopefully the orders with the nickle backplates go out soon. I think I placed my order 20 min after the email went out.

Order got pushed back from unknown ETA to "early January," and then I emailed them yesterday, and today got some nonsense about a supplier sent them crappy materials they couldn't use and now "early February" until it suddenly isn't. 2021 looks primed to continue all the worse trends of 2020.

Nickle-Plexi and Nickle backplate.

Oh damn.. so it's the nickel back plate for sure causing the issues.. and now delayed to early February, which probably means March or later.

I'll cancel my order and get a refund if I can get my hands on the EVGA Kingpin Hydro Copper. This whole series has been a complete disaster, I wish now I had just stuck with my 2080Ti. Spent near $1k on gear for a full water cooling loop which is still sitting here in a box months later. If any of it is defective it's going to be too late to return.

Sadly, I too have to share a bad news about the estimated delivery date of my order of Nickle-Plexi WB and Nickle backplate.

I have ordered on 7 December 2020, probably 15 minutes after they enabled the pre order. I wasnt given any estimated date so I reached out to EK and was told that it was expected to be shipped late december. I waited, but recieved no block or email about delay, so I conntacted EK again. They have appologized an told me that due to delays caused by COVID the block is expected to be shipped on late January. Today a checkced my order on EK web page and for a first time there is estimated delivery date shown. It says 5 March 2021.

I reached out to EK again to confirm this because it is really hard to believe that my order from 7 December, made and paid 15 minutes after the launch of pre order is still unavailable, while people here have earlier dates estimated.

More funny is that i literally live like 4 hours by car from EK headquaters and workshop, while many of orders here are made from overseas and still getting delivered sooner.

2021 is a hot mess...

I have Backplate - Black and also delay to 11. feb.
This is really bad news.
They should say the blocks will come on March! and if its earlier its fine.
I hate this politic of postpone it every 2 weeks.

I just dont understand the logic behind it. If you look on the EK web page, they say the block is out of stock and that expected shippment is in April. So if anyone orders now. they wait only month longer than me, while I am waiting from December? How? Why?

So, funny story.... I checked the status of my EKWB order this morning and it has been updated to 4 MAR. What is sad about it is that I ordered it within an hour of the waterblock going live on EKWB's site.

I had a couple of out of stock items in the order, but they were supposed to be back in stock well before to the original 7 January delivery date.

Pretty sad customer service turnaround too, takes them days to respond. I am a long time EKWB guy and I am pretty disappointed with them at the moment.

That being said, the only other real option was the optimus blocks for the ftw3.... but theirs were almost never in stock and I literally spent days following them on twitter and re-freshing their page in-between work... never had any luck.

all the best, please post some results when you all finally get your cards watercooled..... been waiting for temp/performance results for what feels like half the pandemic.

Hello there, I have an update for my situation, however I am still not satisfied, because the response for EK doesnt clear up anything. They are just giving me another date, which can change again anytime. Probably they are sending these to everyone.  This is their response to me:

"Dear Customer,
We sincerely apologize for the shipping delay of your EK-Quantum Vector FTW3 RTX 3080/3090 D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi.
While the whole world is facing the same challenges resulting from the pandemic, we are confident that you also understand our situation and consequent shipping delays.
The circumstances in Slovenia are not much different than elsewhere. The country is under lockdown for some time now, and as much as we were ready to deal with the situation, we also experienced some issues and drawbacks in our operations.
We are assuring you that our contingency plan is firmly in place. The production is operating with over 100% capacity while following all restrictive measures. We have also engaged additional resources in purchasing while at the same time struggling with all global impacts. On top of that, we face increased demand for our products, but that’s great news given the circumstances.
Please note that we expect your EK-Quantum Vector FTW3 RTX 3080/3090 D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi to be available on the 19th of February 2021. Please allow up to 5 business days for your order to be processed during these peak times. However, keep in mind that if your order contains another item that was out of stock at the moment you placed the order and hasn’t been back in stock in the meantime, the shipping will depend on the other product’s restocking date as well.

We appreciate your patience and understanding and are apologizing for any inconvenience you might have experienced.

Sincerely,
Team EK"

For EKWB FTW3 water blocks, please go to this thread for more info, particularly the last week or so. The estimated delivery date given in the order information screen on EKWB is not at all accurate. Mine still says February 10 but I already have a tracking number for it being shipped.

I just dont understand the logic behind it. If you look on the EK web page, they say the block is out of stock and that expected shippment is in April. So if anyone orders now. they wait only month longer than me, while I am waiting from December? How? Why?

I the simplest way I can explain, in December you pre-ordered. Orders are no longer pre-orders, so they are hoping to ship orders in a timely manner now that they have gauged the quantity of people that want the blocks.

Like the message above states, there is a pandemic, and they are bound by their countries limitations during the pandemic. Hopefully things start to pick up as the vaccines go out.

The pandemic should not absolve companies from being responsible with the money their clients trusted them with.

These companies know what their production capacity is and should be able to forecast demand - these are business basics.

Why publish unreasonable ETAs?  You're just setting yourself up for failure and on top of that you're not allowing the consumer to make an informed decision.

Sorry - I have no more slack to give.  I feel that companies are using C-19 as a crutch for their incompetencies and the consumer are paying for it.
