None of them fit the FTW3.

There will be a FTW3 specific block for sale, similar to the XC3. Probably late January is my best estimation.

Looks like HeatKiller has some "Available now".  Does anyone now if these will fit the FTW3 Ultra?
https://shop.watercool.de/Waterblocks-GPU__NVIDIA_1__GeForceZ-RTX-3080-3090_1

None. It tells you in there - it seems all they have is reference blocks or Zotac Infinity, and a couple for XC3.
They apparently have some FTW3 coming in January 2021...

Anyone get shipping confirmation or tracking for their EK 3090 FTW3 blocks?

I emailed EK about the revised ETA of Feb 10 for my order and they assured my that my order was on track to ship this week; but no sign on tracking yet.

Anxious to finish this build (like everyone else I'm sure).  Been running with O11D XL case open since October - would be nice to put the tempered glass on and just enjoy.

They told me late December as well, but an updated response from them 1 week ago says slight delay:

"Thank you for reaching out.
The dates that are currently in our webshop are valid for new customers who place their orders today. You're currently 15th in line for the block and 5th in line for the backplate. We estimate a batch will be available next week, as mentioned in our e-mail. Unfortunately, due to the prolonged processing times at the moment, your order will most probably be shipped out in the first week of January. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
With kind regards,"

lol I got the email from ek a few weeks ago saying they "had overwhelming demand for the ftw block" and I was like.. um well duh...and "that there was going to be a delay" then this week they sent me a email asking if I would review the product... I would love to review it so I can finish my build. This last 6 months has been crippling as a pc builder. When someone asks me to build them a machine my only response is wait unless you wanna pay double or tripple the value as I will have to ebay some parts

I thought about putting a waterblock on my FTW3 3080 hybrid, but it seems a mediocre overclocker.  With the 450W BIOS, +100mv on the vcore using MSI Afterburner, I only get like +150mhz stable on the core doing cyberpunk, it seems some people have significantly better than that.  Makes me want to sell this card and reroll the dice with a EVGA 3080/3080 Ti hydrocool whenever those come out.

However, I have heard that the hydrocool's are inferior to EKWB.

Isn't liquid metal a bad idea on gpus long term cause it tends to seep out and run to other areas, while also being conductive? That is why Sony isolated its liquid metal application with foam on the PS5?

My 3090 FTW3 Ultra responds really well to a 20-25C reduction in temperature, due to putting the computer next to an open window on a cool night.  The stable overclocks increased and so did my FPS and benchmark scores.  I also now have the 3rd highest score on the EVGA forums in the DMark DX12 RT benchmark due to that reduction in temperature from cold air.

https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/55553859

"Average clock frequency 2,181 MHz"
The same card rarely breaks 1,980 MHz under normal room temperatures with a GPU temp of 65-70C.

Did adding a waterblock affect warranty?

Got an update from EK this morning - looks like re-stock eta is mid-January now.

This is two weeks after getting an email stating that block would ship late December.

Likely won't have the block until sometime in February - feels bad.

Adding a water block does not affect warranty as long as the gpu can be put back to original condition before sending in for rma if needed

The last time I reached out to EK on a shipping estimate for the block was on 12/24 and they said it was still being shipped "late December". I contacted them yesterday and today got the following response:
"To ensure equal treatment to all customers, we process our orders chronologically. Our best shipping estimation for your order at the moment is the beginning/mid-January. Please keep in mind we, unfortunately, cannot guarantee any delivery dates at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

It's not the end of the world but I did not know that asking if the order was still being shipped by Dec 31 counted as requesting preferential treatment! It's just disappointing.

Aquacomputer is (maybe) going to make a cooler with true watercooled active backplate for the FTW3:

My order number is roughly 60 lower than yours. Here’s to hoping that early January means tomorrow.

the optimus block really does perform phenomenally
highest temp i seen so far on the core is 33c with radiator fans on low
that was fully shunted btw with 520w bios so heat i could imagine is tremendous

Really nothing else comes close

What size rads you running? Push pull? Is the cpu included in that loop?

And you have an EK block, or any other brand block on hand to make that comparison? I'm not trying to be rude, but people keep claiming Optimus blocks are leagues better than anything else, yet where are the side by side tests? Love to see some so I can make actual informed purchasing decisions. All companies seem to be failing pretty hard delivering any blocks to begin with though.

anecdotal evidence
8c delta
none of the others are reporting such temps

I'm getting a little better than that running liquid metal but the 8c is based on testing and others who all reported results at overclock.net
personally seeing 6c delta which is unheard of

The backplate comes with a massive thick fujipoly pad that covers the entire backend. they claimed this block by design has the best contact of any block so i took them up by it and tried it with liquid metal. Very impressed

Aluminum Housing, with Nickel Plated Copper Block.

"In comparison Closed variant Open variant Active backplate with nickel-plated copper base  transparent rendered cover water volume in the cooler"

It sounds like the Block will be nickel plated copper, set inside of an aluminum housing that never touches the water.

looks EKWB has quality issues with mounting :(

Wow imagine that. Another ek product with bad quality...

Love that double sided Aquacomputer block though. I would assume we will see a bunch of the manufacturers start releasing this style now that the cards have heat coming from both so I'm interested to see what else we get.
