This is also impacting the 3080 XC3 hybrid cards 100-107 power target makes no difference. How has no EVGA rep acknowledged this and put a path forward out there? @Jacob??

I recently got a kingpin. Aside from my oled screen blanking out after a firmware update its performing really well.(hopefully this is a just a firmware fix). How do am I able to determine if my cards crippled as being discussed in this thread. Here is screen shot of gpu-z after runing Time spy extreme. I never hit oowerlimit as a perfcap reason. With my ftw3 ultra gaming. I always hit powerlimit and my pcie slot power was always above 80watts. I think this card is working fine although i did not get 520watts and didnt get the full 121% tdp on this run, I think this card is doing ok. Please tell me my card is fine :) 14992 at 110 core and 1000mem. I think I still got some room. No voltage changes

From what I've been reading, this looks pretty good. Right near 15,000 with just moving some sliders. LN2 BIOS or OC BIOS switch position? Right at 500w and not on the power limiter is encouraging. I'm excited/nervous to try mine tomorrow. If what was said about analog and hardcoded voltage controllers is true, that is pretty disappointing considering the cost of this card and the fact it carries the Kingpin name. I hope that previous post was a bit incendiary and these controllers won't handicap the cards. If they release a revamped version of the card, I'll be pissed I paid for an early drop of this that is going to war with a foot in a bucket.

That's some unicorn bin. If you've done NOTHING else except switch to LN2 bios and raise clock and memory that's a crazy bin.

Sajin My kingpin is also able to pull 520w on the stock LN2 vbios, but I have to increases voltages using the classified tool to get it there. At stock voltages on the LN2 vbios you aren't going to pull 520w unless you run furmark, or some other app that can make it pull that much power.
Sajin does your card go over 450w without using the classified tool? I can understand having to make some adjustments with the tool to make best use of the 520w LN2 power limit but out of the box my card will not go above 450w without using the tool which just doesn't seem right? I have checked the LN2 bios version is correct and the power limits are set. I had expected to fine tune the card to get the most out of it but having to resort to voltage adjustment to even start to get over 450w is not great but I'm not sure if it is a valid reason for an RMA. I have started a ticket but support is now closed on weekends so will see what they say Monday...

LN2 bios, 121%, same settings as previous poster. This is pretty ridiculous. Doesn't even hit 91% and Power Limits. I did notice that all power limits seem to correspond to voltages being read from 12.4 down to 12.3. The EVGA G3 850W is absolutely more than capable of handling the power. Is there something I can do to tell the card NOT to power limit when it detects the .1v drop from the source?

Based on jollib's post, it seems like it SHOULD be able to. I can tweak all day long in the Classified tool and even though the bios should have a hard limit of 520W it definitely exceeds that by a large margin without increasing temps at all. It makes no sense across the board. Doesn't matter what anything is configured to. As soon as there's full load (or whatever it thinks is full load) card power throttles, it's obviously not power throttling though since I can go beyond whatever it is currently at. Makes me think it's incorrectly reading something somewhere. I've owned A LOT of 3090's. 3x FE's, 2x FTW3 Ultras, 2x FTW3 Ultra Hybrids and now a Kingpin. ALL of them have had power throttling issues and I am unsure why. Again, can't be the power supply since I can force it to exceed the limit anyway and draw more power.

What I noticed is these cards want lower temps. My ftw3 ultra wanted to be cool. But I couldn’t break 14.5k on air as soon as it would get to higher temps it would not reach its its clocks. The other big difference is the pcie slot power 70.3 was max on kingpin. I kept breaking 80w on the ftw3 ultra. I haven’t even touched the classified too. Pardon my newbness but does using that tool void warranty

If it does then it shouldn't be allowed to be shared freely on the forums. I was unaware of any of that. Specifically the card says if you go beyond recommended spec voltages you aren't supposed to RMA it. These cards are performing WILDLY different though so it's obvious when Vince said all of them are binned, that was not true.

The classified tool can be used although I have personally not seen anyone from EVGA actually provide it here. It's just floating around. It's the 1000w XOC BIOS that we are unclear about. Have not seen anything concrete about warranty issues. Previous gen would void it, Sajin says it will void it. But have yet to see anything from EVGA about it. If you were to get the BIOS then have your OLED screen break or the AIO pump takes a ****, that would be terrible if your warranty was void if any of those issues happen. I understand frying the card but if something else goes wrong and your warranty is void because you asked for the BIOS, that would suck. But at least I sort of expected that. I also would hope that EVGA would provide a BIOS that may be in-between the XOC and 520W "LN2" that would not void your warranty but that's just a hope. One leaked last gen but it took a while so maybe another will leak. Actually they have one that is floating around but nobody can flash it yet. They really need a pinned post about the Kingpin. It's like they said here it is, good luck.

Unless your going sub ambient. I do not think you have a reason to need it. If your going to sub ambient warranty shouldn't be something to think about.

Mine is already in process of RMA but that was due to the pump buzzing louder than the collective of fans in my Core X71 case when under load. It's insane how perceptive you become to different noise when your PC is so silent normally.

So let me try to understand this. why would I need to hit 520w power limit, if I’m already getting pretty good consistent clock speeds when running PR or TSE. I didn’t break 500w to get my current score in PR. Wouldn’t power draw be a concern only if I was hitting 520 and getting low scores. Sorry for hijacking the thread btw.

Response from Evga “ YOUR ANSWER
Hello,
Based on this behavior it sounds like the flash failed and now the card would need to be replaced. You can try and test the cards on another system and see if it will let you flash it there. If the results are the same, the card would need to be replaced. Please let us know the results of your testing in order to support you further. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns in order to support you further.
Regards, EVGA”
I don’t want to send this one back if it’s binned really well. There is no way to force the bios to update again?

if you're getting a nice fat thick green throttle bar in GPU-Z, then your performance is definitely being held back. I'm not talking about a green throttle bar in 30 FPS benches like Superposition 4k Custom-->Extreme textures or Timespy Extreme (these seem to throw up a power limit even on 600W bioses/mods--Sajin said that these can be removed by increasing MSVDD and MVDCC, which makes a lot of sense since it seems to be the memory / soc's getting hammered here). I'm talking about in regular Timespy (NOT the two small green throttle bars at the beginning--those seem intentionally driver related), and Port Royal. With +200 to core and +1000 to RAM, I can see Port Royal doing "some" throttling at 600W and a bit more at 550W, but with +0 core and +0 memory on the 520W LN2 vbios, PR should not throttle at all. Unless the default clocks are something like 2050 mhz (boost at 50C) and 10000 mhz memory (equal to +250 mhz memory on FE cards). If you don't mind doing a little work, please do the following: 1) Open GPU-Z, click the mouse on the wattage fields until it says "max" in green for each one. 2) Open HWinfo64 (sensors only), mouse down to the GPU field, and have the TDP% and TDP Normalized % (GPU-Z does NOT show Normalized! Only hwinfo does!) showing. Bonus points if you can have the voltage rails showing also. 3) Run Timespy and take a screenshot with the GPU-Z and HWinfo64 windows open right after the bench ends, with your score visible. 4) Run Port Royal and do the same thing (remember to press "RESET" on GPU-Z and hwinfo BEFORE running the second bench run). 5) upload a screenshot on imgur.com and post the direct link to it (from the album).

Yes, I can make the card hit 508w in tse on stock voltages by pushing the card to its maximum clocks for that benchmark.

markuaw1 Yeah I can't believe all that's going on either sold my ftw3 ultra picked up a 3090 strix put it on a EK waterblock couldn't be more happy oh yeah and a bonus running the Kingpin bios and out scoring most the Kingpin cards https://www.3dmark.com/pr/648784
Are you running a chiller or cold climate area? I think the upper tiered AIB cards are going to perform similar based on what is being seen for the silicon lottery. How easy to get there will depend on modding or having "turn-key" mods like the KP. My air cooled FTW3 could barely break 14K. I did this after about a dozen runs after installing the KP last night. https://www.3dmark.com/pr/663778 Think this may be around the limit before I need warranty voiding bios or increased voltage. I don't remember seeing it before, but EVGA included a warning sheet in the box that states damages caused by increased voltages will not have warranty. Vince said the dips switches increase voltage so EVBOT or classy not needed. EVGA shouldn't have included the dip switches and hyped the card to the enthusiasts.

Vince said the dips switches increase voltage so EVBOT or classy not needed. EVGA shouldn't have included the dip switches and hyped the card to the enthusiasts.

Sajin Yes, I can make the card hit 508w in tse on stock voltages by pushing the card to its maximum clocks for that benchmark.
What kind of air temps are you feeding the rad?

BTW my microstuttering is something in PX1. Closed it, problem went away. However, can't use the OLED screen for the majority of the features without PX1 running. SMH.

jollib So let me try to understand this. why would I need to hit 520w power limit, if I’m already getting pretty good consistent clock speeds when running PR or TSE. I didn’t break 500w to get my current score in PR. Wouldn’t power draw be a concern only if I was hitting 520 and getting low scores. Sorry for hijacking the thread btw.
if you're getting a nice fat thick green throttle bar in GPU-Z, then your performance is definitely being held back.
Unfortunately, no one seems to know WHY it's happening for some cards and not others. All of my 6+ 3090's have done this but people posting online about how they get no throttling. I have to undervolt to get rid of power limit, on any of my cards.
