i can confirm a 850watt psu ios not enough when you wanna oc the vram , getting hard shut down pass +1000 on mem :(

strix on air with KPE bios : 14 862

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i9-9900K Processor,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME Z390-A (3dmark.com)

I have Seasonic Focus Gold Plus 850w. I was able to hit 1200 on the memory without issue

yea well, i can say my psu doesnt cut it gonna switch to 1200watt after the holydays

im getting 560-580watts gpu power draw, + oc cpu + oc ram etc, my 850watt psu doesnt cut it

Watt meter on 1600 watt ti at wall with 10980xe and Kingpin pulling 975 watts +. With XOC vbios .

Is anyone adding NVVDD voltage to their GPU (beyond the max PX1 voltage slider) for daily gaming or are folks sticking to stock voltages for a daily driver?

For daily I'm using 0.950v 2100MHz +500 memory (it settled to around 2055-2070MHz when gaming). I found a NVVDD/MSVDD combination using Classified tool that provides good performance for 0.950v voltage point. I dropped memory to 1.35v (auto is 1.368-1.375v). When I get a waterblock, I'll push for better OC.

Maxing PX1 voltage slider doesn't really add more NVVDD voltage. It only unlocks up to 1.10v in the V/F curve. I think one of the reason why people are getting low score with high frequencies with the KPE is because the internal NVVDD/MSVVDD table for each voltage point is only good up to 450W. The internal clocks won't go higher even though the card is showing high frequencies like 2160MHz. 2100MHz avg internal clock +1100 Memory is enough to brake 15K in Port Royal.

I believe this may be the case with the FTW3 500W BIOS issue. They released a 500W BIOS with a NVVDD/MSVDD internal table of still 450W so it's hard to fully reach 500W with low NVVDD.

@SoldierRBT

Thanks! This is helpful and similar to what I’ve been seeing others doing, as well. This is also around where I’ve landed for daily gaming. I just wanted to make sure I was in the same ballpark as others for gaming, and 2055-2070 MHz is awesome for gaming IMHO.

Edit: I was gaming at a stable 2160 in COD Cold War tonight. I’ll take that.

Finally joined the 15K club tonight.

15012

https://www.3dmark.com/pr/707606

Stock voltages just using PX1 and AIO in a closed case in my Gameroom. 20C ambient room temp. Max fans, PX1 power and voltage sliders all the way to the right. 9th overall score with a 9900KS. I am more than happy with that and not about to get greedy.

+125 GPU / +1200 MEM

After a ton of troubleshooting lower power draw, I realized that for some reason, PX1 won’t recognize my max power slider setting on restart, unless I lower the power slider, click Apply, then re-slide it back to 100, then click Apply again. This fix allowed me to do a run right after a cold boot to take advantage of a cooler system temp. I don’t think I’ll mess with the voltages or push it any further.

I bought this big boy for gaming after all, but it’s nice to know I can get above 15K with this chip and maybe even higher if I tried cooling things down more. Lower temps do make all the difference on this card, even if just doing a run after letting your PC cool down for a bit.

I’ve been able to game at 2160 MHz in COD Cold War using just the sliders in PX1 and no voltage adjustments. I’d imagine you should be able to do much better with your chip.

I always get a kick out of hearing that. No voltage adjustment. Generally not a reason on the "to buy a Kingpin card" list. Voltage and power control are the main reason to want this card.

Stock voltage 2190.

Edit:
After about 10 to 15 minutes it crashed. It kept hitting around 2200 which takes more voltage than stock.

ROFL. I went through two 3090 FTW3 Ultras which each died on me after one day. So why would I stick with that lesser quality PCB? The Kingpin was the only option left for me if I wanted to stick with EVGA and have a card that actually works. Get all the facts before you judge someone’s buying intentions, bra.

Clearly it IS on the general list of reasons to buy the KPE if you’re “always getting a kick out of hearing it” from lots of other people who are also buying it for that same reason. 😂 You do realize that the card is called the “Kingpin Hybrid GAMING,” right? Guess EVGA also thought it might be used for gaming...

Oh and you didn’t buy the KPE for gaming? Obviously you did since you’re playing Cyberpunk at 2200 MHz. 🤣 Ya basic.

Take a look at my post one page back. You might need to use my slider and apply trick. Otherwise you may need to add some core voltage to your GPU. Good luck!

It’s a nice -15C this morning in my neck of the woods of The Great White North. With the PC getting a nice draft (wind is blowing the wrong way for strong outside air blowing in) I was finally able to hit 15k on stock voltages with +160 core, +1200 mem, power and fans at max.

With the classy tool I was able to get a little higher 15.145k for my highest yet (and #3 Leaderboard with a 5900x) but I think I’ll need a stronger draft and colder temps to see better. I also think I could have let it stabilize with the colder air a little longer.

I tried your suggestion, and not sure if it worked. Funny thing is, gpuz is actually saying my card is sometimes idling during port royal runs lol. That’s definitely not right.

Also it seems to indicate that I’m being power throttled when the tdp is at 111% ish?

Yeah I’m with you now. I’m trying again this morning and finding that my trick isn’t working anymore. I’m also seeing lower power draws again with the same settings as last night and as you have. I’m going to keep troubleshooting and I’ll report back if I find the culprit.

So I honestly think it might have something to do with the way my antivirus software is behaving. I usually disable the McAfee scanner service before a run and I didn’t do that this morning and saw that my power draws were abysmal. I just went in and disabled it and I’m back up to my normal score range (albeit lower now since my PC is warm now). Anyways I wonder if that could affect power draw so severely.

I think x1 might be the culprit. Tried with afterburner same settings and got 14997. Honestly have no idea what exactly x1 is messing up, but oh well.

@kdjkdk

That’s interesting and it makes sense. I’m getting increasingly skeptical of PX1 and its glitches and I may try Afterburner as well. I’ll see if that makes any difference for me and report back. Thanks for the update!

Finally hit 15071 with +165/1200

It’s not stable though, so just for benchmarks I guess lol

True. Thx, Grats on your new KPE!

BTW These K|NGP|Ns are just what the doctor ordered & these cards have a much longer legs than some have stated thus far...

So far I think I like this one better than my 2080 TI version. I think mine was not so great of an overclocker at the time.

My goodness does using Afterburner make all the difference on this card. I’m up to 15,102 for the 7th overall score on a 9900KS stock voltage max fans no classified tool in a closed case. +145 / +1200

https://www.3dmark.com/pr/710647

Seeing temp limit spikes now so I’m going to stop while I’m ahead.

But yeah. RIP Precision X1 ☹️

Not exactly KP score, but anyone noticed that the last record score from Escapeee (over 18500) was removed?
