fragility_V1 Tracking down another lead on a block, so looking like I might be good.
So no problem? leakage solved? Sun is shiny again. I am sure there are many blocks out there with no issue, we just don’t hear from them
Oh no, tracking down a lead on an EVGA HC Block. That'll solve my leaking issues. The Optimus issue is far from solved. I reached out to support a few days back and have yet to hear back. They don't have direct emails on their webpage, so it was through their webpage form. I have some contacts from other users, so will reach out via those channels as well if I don't see some action soon from my initial request. I'm not insinuating Optimus has a widespread leakage/seepage problem, but given their small run of KPE blocks (at least from what I can tell), and the handful of people experiencing similar issues, it seems like it would a larger percentage of their yield that has issues compared to a regular block. I'm not aware of any widespread issues they had with their FTW3 blocks, so it's a little surprising. But this is their first time with an active backplate, and that is where my issues lie. The other thing they've changed is this new coating which may be contributing to the sealing issues.

I see. I guess they are up to near OP5300 now, minus some skipped block. They probably shipped like 50? and like at least 6 people on oc forum and here have some problem. IF that is the case, then thats pretty high failure rate at 6/50. Optimus if u are reading this, do something or u will lose some future customer

Both of my KP HC blocks leaked. THe leaks got worse when I did chilled water cooling. It was confusing because I thought it was the fittings, so I changed fittings and ports several times. One block wasn't fixable and I had to RMA my KP HC.

Ouch. I haven't had problems with their blocks in the past, hopefully won't run into the same issues with this HC. I'm not adventurous enough to do chilled water. But I could see that potentially causing some issues if the block gets cold enough to shrink some, could cause the seal to break.

I was actually considering that, but don't know where it would fit into my loop. Now that it's broken down may be good time to reexamine...

Do you guys think if I use clear enamel paint to coat the o-ring channel of the block that it would help to prevent leaks?

Well the cause of the leaks isn't clear. If it's a seal in the metal channel that accepts the o-ring, maybe. But there are some significant gaps in the channel and the gasket, so a layer of paint isn't going to make that snug. And you'd probably void whatever warranty they have, or chance at returning it. So if it doesn't fix it, you're at a loss. If it's an issue with the coating, then that's not necessarily going to block seepage, it'll just occur under that coating. So, likely not worth it.

That looks like an amazing product. I think many a water cooler could be interested in it. Thanks for posting that AtozGlue! I had no idea Aqua was only 20 years old. @fragility, I hope you find the block you want/need. I also have an EK leak tester that leaked at the brass fitting the gauge attaches to. A second one didn't leak. I also bought the Byski tester and it works nice.

If you want to go outside the box, I heard somewhere that black pepper works - in a car. Apparently black pepper doesn't deteriorate, so it can keep you running indefinitely. Of course not so good if it gets caught in the fins...

Painting the channel would smooth out the texture channel creating a better seal no?

Possibly, but the gasket may not be full bearing on the sides of the channel anyway, so wouldn't do much if it's not touching in the first place. So it would only improve the seal at the bottom of the channel. Maybe that's enough. I've been told they're looking into it, so maybe there's a more widespread solution they'll issue.

I would also wait to see what Optimus does at this point. I'm sure they will work on something to help resolve the leak issues and I wouldn't do anything to the block which may impact your ability to rma/warranty services. If you are going to try and use something in the gasket channel it would need to be pliable to a certain degree and then removeable for service related issues.

Only really works if you have 1 pump in your system. Once you start adding more then it doesn't have the vacuum power. Dual pumps should really be standard for most anyways. For many different reasons.

One of the blocks had the threads partially stripped in the acrylic where one of the two screws goes to hold on the terminal. When the block got colder, coolant started pouring out of there. It was OK with coolant that was +10C to +15C exiting the block, but when I tried sub zero coolant I thought the water pouring out was going to kill everything in the PC. Taking the block apart to tighten it didn't work because of the damaged threads. So I had to do the RMA. The other block just wasn't assembled properly and the screws holding the terminal on weren't fully tightened. I took it apart and tightened the screws. My EKWB GPU block on my 3090 Gaming X Trio held up fine to coolant that was -10C-15C after exiting the block. However that card is voltage limited. It was stable at 2,325 MHz in some benchmarks with stock voltage and chilled coolant. -12C coolant exiting the block.

The back plate looks pretty thin and flatness could be an issue , but anything that compromises the screw to hold a decent retention is game over, and you should RMA , If everything looked ok and you could reassemble it , using an anaerobic flange sealant like Loctite 515 on that gasket might be a solution if it is a coating flatness issue. It does not set up like rtv and holds in temperature changes.

So, I took apart the 3090 KPE Hydro Copper to clean the inside of it today. It was a terrible pain in the butt; almost as horrible as the 2080 Ti FTW3 Hydro Copper was. It really feels like EVGA does this on purpose to keep people from taking them apart, which makes no sense at all. People need to be able to maintain the products they buy and taking apart a waterblock for cleaning is normal maintenance. When I needed to clean the 2080 Ti FTW3 Hydro Copper block a second time, I learned from EVGA that they did not sell replacement o-rings for Hydro Copper blocks, so I sold it and replaced it with an EKWB GPU block. Unfortunately, the Kingpin model has only two options available, both difficult to acquire because of limited availability and both overpriced. Getting the o-ring back in place was a complete nightmare. The plexi has a shallow groove for it and it tries to pop out of the groove. The first time I reassembled it and leak-tested it had a leak because the o-ring slipped a tiny bit. Everything turned out fine in the end, but it was far more hassle than it should have been. This makes me angry, and causes me to think it would be best to avoid buying enthusiast grade video cards in the future and stick with less expensive generic reference PCB GPUs with multiple waterblock options and just shunt mod and voltage mod them for better overclocking. I canceled the order I had for the OptimusPC KPE block because I got tired of waiting after several months and no ETA being offered. I am considering ordering one again and waiting as long as it takes, but the leaking problem @fragility_V1 is a bit concerning. Trying to decide now, because I don't want to have to take apart the Hydro Copper again. I am scared I will end up with nothing if the o-ring is damaged and EVGA won't sell me one.

If you scroll down on the product page, the installation instructions call out the thicknesses:
0.5mm FujiPoly GR45
Awesome, thanks! I was looking for that info and somehow missed it.
I decided to use 1mm Laird HD90000.It's very soft and can fit cold plate well.

I mean, Atoz here is at 5290. Considering that the 52xx numbering scheme is their total order numbers, it's not too much of a logical leap to think that there might be a jump straight to something like 5310 and so on. Depending on if the preorders are starting to go down. I have no idea what the last preorder number was so I can't comment (I read the whole thread but can't for the life of me remember).
