mech9t5 They told me that they pressure test the blocks to 20 psi before they shipped out to customers.
Lol...no way.
Exactly...I did not believe it myself.
I just asked what's the max PSI I can test my block with, when I pull mine in the next few weeks I'll test it up to that PSI. I tested up to 5 PSI when I leak tested my whole loop but I'll do just the block this time.

Go higher than 5 psi. I use the EK leak tester at around 9 psi / 0.625 bar on my loop. 20 psi seems a bit much though... Link for EK leak tester if anyone's interested: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-leak-tester

I built my own so I can go as high as 30 PSI if needed. If they say 20 is safe then I’ll do 20. I’ll check when I pull it from my loop in a few weeks.

You are a brave man, I wouldn't have filled my loop if I didn't pass the air test. Why did you take the risk? Did you ever find the air leak? Have you had any fluid leak? Was the air leak on the block? Were you able to pinpoint the location? Thanks, Jason

Yes, that's how i did it. I didn't hear back from them so after 24 hours, emailed again complaining about poor service and the fact they missed all their promised date. They replied and issued a credit right away.

I wouldn't trust anything EK makes personally. Aquacomputer was the first to come out with the Dr Drop, but if it's easy enough to build your own from your local hardware store for under $10.

It didn't leak because the pressure was low for now.I'm not sure the leak wouldn't happen when the system is in high load. You have to take your loop apart and check out what's going wrong.Make sure the leak tester itself dosen't have air leak first. You can test each part of the loop to locate where is leaking.Be patient.

it just occurred to me that I have 1. never done a air pressure leak test, and 2. ever had a leak. Now I need to learn about this. it makes sense.

If only back-plate is leaking (and very slowly), why not have it (Do not actually try this lol) : - back plate facing down, sitting at the bottom of the case or even outside of the case - use riser cable to connect (linkup *Ultra PCIE 4.0 Left Angle) - make sure nothing valuable, electrical is under, below the graphics card Honestly, if it is slowly leaking like 1ml per day, and only back-plate, this might be the only solution. Sadly there is no other choice as hydro copper kit is not in stock, and that does not cover the back plate. If that HC kit in stock, I guess it can be paired with mp5works or Bykski Backplate https://www.aliexpress.co.../1005002715607430.html Hmm curious how wide spread this issue is. Maybe it only applies to first batch? Maybe just first batch and certain Cerakote choice? Who knows

Interesting, I didn't know Byski made a backplate block. Looks like it it's not compatible with a backplate. Anyone have any experiences using one? Looks like it might control temps better than the mp5works block since it has direct contact with the memory chips.

My EK leak tested did that the first time I used it, then I noticed one of the threaded connections was a little loose. I tightened it and its worked fine ever since.

Yea u would have to put that block on top of KPE's default backplate, I doubt the screw holes fits. Still better than aluminum heat sink on the back or nothing kraade Ya I think I will stay with the KPHC block and order the MP5works
Got notification for KPHC kit like 2 weeks ago. Clicked the link within 90 sec from the time email was sent, and it was sold out. I am not paying $499 on ebay for that block. If it was in stock I'd go that route IS there anyone who has the optimus KPE block running for say 1+ week and not have this backplate leaking, seepage issue (internal or external)? I guess those people just play games and not bothered with forum.

well, in the first scenario the loop is on my test bench, so i was fairly sure everything was tight. i triple checked fittings etc, and then laid down a blanket of towels over anything sensitive before firing it up to run the live leak test. it was probably the leak tester from what i'm seeing here. bavor

i'll check it again, i only used it twice and both times it was flaky. second time i chalked it up to being wrong since the first time around it gave me a false read on things. little nervy as the second loop is my daily. i'll check the tester again and see if it just needs an extra crank. maybe some teflon tape idk

I must be speaking into the wind but I've said it multiple times in this thread I have a KPHC that I'm willing to let go at cost. Yet all I see is people complaining about ebay prices and mine just collects dust. Oh well I can only offer.

I know someone used block like this. The memory temp was below 50C when mining, without stock backplate.

So no problem? leakage solved? Sun is shiny again. I am sure there are many blocks out there with no issue, we just don’t hear from them
