Thanks for welcome guys... It was at 50% but the one thing I did notice was I had choked down the cpu usage to like 30%; so tonight when I fold I will move the slider back up to 79% and I think that'll help more. Feels good to see some sort of progress in the mornings when I get on my desktop. Once I do finish my first WUnit, will it automatically assign me or move me onto the next one to complete? Welcome to the team Szygy!! I myself just started and trying to learn to control panel and help out. Ox

Hi Szygy and welcome to our team If you need any help just open a thread and post away, we have lots of able boy, girls and old men here who are happy to help out. In case you aren't aware here is a link for your stats, its normally an hour or two behind and updates every 3 hours, so if you complete a work unit 90 minutes before the update and it fails to show, the next update will have it for you. http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=610049

Good Morning! I'm a newbee on fah! I'm impressed of the EVGA Team. Rank 2 on Top List I start to fold yesterday, and i have to learn so much about the folding. Is very easy to install. @first To get Points on my EVGA Acount, i have to sign same username as the username of my folding client? The Points update all 24h hours? So update all day same time? Why my gpu doesnt work if i tick the slider to "medium" usage? I read that bonus points are available until 10 WU's worked. So is there an option to get only small Wu's? Thank you for helping a newbee!!!

Welcome to the team, suikata. Your EVGA name and Folding name don't have to be identical, it just makes things easier if they are. If they're different, you need to contact Rob at webmaster@evga.com so he can manually link your account with the proper stats. You do at least have to go into your profile and enter the folding username under EVGA Folding name. Points are credited to your account whenever a Work Unit is uploaded successfully. The stats servers are updated every hour, though if you return a WU too close to the top of the hour it may not show up until the update after that, i.e. if you turn something in at 4:55 pm PT it will almost certainly not make it into the 5:00 pm update, but should show up by 6:00 pm. Note that EOC, a third-party stats site which a lot of people look at for quick estimates of PPD and a somewhat detailed history, only updates once every 3 hours. The other major third-party stats site is Kakao Stats, which also updates every 3 hours. The slider provides a coarse-grained control over all your slots at once. You can see what all of the settings do towards the bottom of this page. On Medium, the GPU is set to only run when the computer is idle. This is the default option because GPU's don't multitask well at all and many people have experienced significant lag when folding and actively using their computers for something else. It also runs on n-1 threads of your CPU to further avoid lag. Full will run everything full-blast. To get bonus points you need a passkey and complete 10 bonus-eligible WUs. Pretty much every CPU project is bonus-eligible, but there are only a handful of GPU projects currently with that status. None of those have been released to full FAH distribution yet, so if you want them (and you almost certainly do), you need to open Advanced Control (click on the FAH icon in the systray and select it), then select Configure->Slots, click on the GPU slot, select Edit, then at the bottom of the window add an Extra Slot Option with Name: 'client-type' and Value 'advanced', both without the quotes. Then select OK or Save until all the windows that popped up are closed. You should start getting WUs from projects 8900, 7810, or 7811, all of which are bonus-eligible. Note that you may get WUs from other projects mixed in, and right now any other GPU project does not get bonus points nor does it count towards your bonus eligibility. And no, there's no way to request short WUs for becoming bonus-eligible faster. It'll come soon enough, and hopefully you'll fold long enough that the couple of days you weren't getting bonuses is a tiny fraction of the time you've contributed.

I have a spare computer gaming system. I loaded the Folding Program and I believe it's working. I was folding (for EVGA) a few years ago. I have a few questions... I have 2 570 (EVGA) in a classified X58 (EVGA MD) running a I7-920 oc @ 3.2. Should I (SLI) the cards or not? Also, The Folding Icon, on the desktop, will not open. PM me with the answers, please. Thank you for your time,

Welcome Blunt; glad to have you on board! Well it's been two weeks since I joined up with the EVGA folding Team and I think every thing is going smoothly. I am now ranked at 11,916 on the list. I usually turn on my folding program at night right before heading for the shower and bed. I have completed 4 WU's so far and it feels good to log on after I get the kids some breakfast and see that I have completed a work load. I can see how this could be addicting and find myself wanting to get more WU's done for the cause and for the team. So, I've been thinking that if anyone happens to have an old low profile GPU they do not need; or they want to sell to a new commer to help him to let me know please. I think with the set up I have there is not much I can do without a totally new mobo and chip. But I think a graphics card probably would help alot in my numbers? You guys are way more knowledgeable about these things than I. Current Sytem: Dell Vostro 220s/dell board 4GB Samsung Ram 350 watt pw If anyone come across anything to please let me know; send me a message please. I need 4 more post before I can add the "EVGA Folding TEAM" signature to my page and I'm proud to be able to wear that. Thanks again guys for the help

AKAOX - Yes - Folding can become quite addictive! Just wait until we ramp up for some of the contests - it gets rather crazy! As for your question on the low profile GPU. While I will say that any and all WU's, regardless of platform or points generated, help the cause, it may not be the most optimal move at the point in time. With the new core being utilized for GPU folding, older series cards do not fair that well. The core is geared more toward the newer generation cards (e.g. 6XX and 7XX series). Personally, I recommend saving that money and using it (along with your EVGA bucks from folding) to work on upgrading the overall system. But - that's just my 2 cents. If, however, you are really set on getting a low profile card - just check to make sure your system (PSU) can support the additional work load. Since Folding runs the cards at full load, you need to ensure you have the juice to power it. Either way - very glad to have you on board and Fold On!

Thank you for the reply Boballee.. I don't think with the amount of WU's I am able to produce will help me get any EVGA bucks. But I was also looking at something like the Nvidia Geforce GT 630 with 2GB or the MSI Nvidia GT 630 with 4GB? I'm not looking for a monster imporvement; but if one of these would help slightly then I'd be happy.

True - with your current production, might be a bit of a stretch for the EVGA bucks - but you never know. Again, anything that will push out additional work units always helps. Depending on teh full specs of your system, I think the PSU you have can handle the addition of a GT 630. If you can and want to do it, I say go for it.

Greetings to all! I've started folding this last week and of course thought I'd throw all my points towards Team EVGA. My folding name is sshamm on the team. Hope my contribution helps the cause and team. I am folding whenever I'm not gaming which allows for a lot of folding up time. (work full time) Nice to meet everyone though! Sh4dow5

Sh4dow5 Hi and welcome to the team, if you intend to collect the EVGA bucks - and why not....then as your folding name is a little different to your forum name you need add your folding name onto your forum profile, then PM EVGATech_MattM ( I hope he is the correct Guy) give him your folding name and forum name and he can get it approved, when he has OK'd it you are good to go. Have a look @ the folding page, it is under Community and then folding Most of us use the EOCF folding stats, your link is: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=644409 The stats can be a few hours behind and is update every 3 hours Any specific issues you can't find the answer to then just open a new thread and hold on tight

Hi everyone! I just started folding yesterday and of course joined team EVGA! I've got my home PC folding 24/7 with an i5 2500k (stock speeds) and no GPU averaging 12k estimated PPD. I also have a laptop running on full unless I'm using it while working averaging 6k PPD. I'm in the process of building a rig at work using an i7 3930k on an EVGA x79 Dark mobo. I might have to pick up a cheap GPU to get it up and running and save for a nice GPU down the line. I'm also considering having my PLEX server at work start folding or just straight up turn it into a dedicated folding server.
I'm super psyched to be a part of this and I can't wait to get to a point where I can compete well with you guys :)

Zephmeister, nice to have you aboard, every work unit counts and helps the cause (and the team of course) I've attached a link to the EOCF stats for you, it helps to keep you in the know http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=644702 Currently recent (last 2 series) GPU's produce more ppd, but you should also get a "Passkey" this opens up the Quick Return Bonus (QRB) it has a couple of requirements 10 completed work units (using the Passkey) 80% success rate on the work units http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py If you have any questions post up and I'm sure someone will have the answer for you

I guess I just need some advice on how to fold more efficiently in terms of settings on the clients? I hear a lot of people talking about getting WUs from certain projects and whatnot. Also, I started folding on my linux based server but I have no idea how to use the control or viewer in a command line interface :/

not much you can do on the CPU side... you just take bad WU's with good ones - setting flags won't do much (because eventually everything goes to general pool) The only thing you can do here is overclock or go for more cores 6 core or Multiple socket CPU's - 2P or 4P (ie -bigadv flag) the GPU side is where you'll make the difference with kepler cards and FAH Flags so until you have a high end GPU that can benefit from it I wouldn't worry

Johnerz, Thanks for the info and the intention was to receive EVGA Bucks. Is it possible to have my forum name changed? I didn't see anything in the User CP that gave me an option to do that. Either I'm blind and didn't look hard enough, or there just isn't an option. I would need to change my forum name here, or I guess create a whole new EVGA account because folding@home will not accept my name Sh4dow5.

I've been meaning to start folding ever since I started building my computer and now that I finally made the effort to download the client, I've run into some problems because I haven't read the threads related to it thoroughly which mostly is because it's 5am right now... So.. I'm curious if there's any new updates as to setting up the tracker that was mentioned in the thread starter? I tried following the instructions on on "How to start folding - the easy way" but it seems you've come a long way since v2. I tried installing v2, looks like it works but nothing going on there so I thought I'd try installing v7. Ran it which I downloaded from the F@H page and it opens up this webapp that shows me my folding slots. Says waiting for idle on my GPU slot, what does this mean? How do I make it start? I also have "cpu:3", does this mean it's only utilizing my 3rd core? I want to let 'er rip as I'm about to go to bed right now. Oh and one more thing, I was starting to get really concerned about why there was no progress on the cpu even though it was running. When I saw 1.12% my eyes lit up! OMG THIS IS SO HAPPENING JAJAJAJJAA. I'm really excited to see where this brings me in a couple of days, I currently have 9705 PPD on my cpu, not sure what that means, but all I know is I'm helping a good cause and that's all that really matters! Ok I'm done sleep rambling. Thanks for reading!

Hi axialLP7 and welcome! Sounds like you're running but let us know what your cpu and gpu are and we'll help you tweak the setting for full output. Do you have a passkey yet?
