sluggotg What a Pain! I buy two i9-12900k cpus. I buy a high end Asus MB for one build and will wait for EVGA for the other MB. I did preorders.. Asus did not list any DDR5 compatibility lists before release day.. so did not preorder DDR5.. All DDR5 instantly sold out on release day, now its just like video cards etc. But wait, I will buy a DDR4 Asus MB to hold me over with some RAM. I order both.. but wait I can't find any High End Air Coolers that will fit. (I had ordered a Bequiet Dark Rock Pro4 and a Noctua D15 for the first build but neither one will work). Yes Water Cooling is best but I like Air... but looks like I am out of choices so I will see if there are compatibility issues with the Asus DDR4 MBs and Closed Loop coolers. This falls strictly on Asus. I am not in a hurry for EVGA to get out its board. With DDR5 unavailable, I will wait till I can get the RAM first, then I will start trying to get the new EVGA MB.
Why won’t the d15 work? That’s what I plan on using. You just need low-profile ram. It def won’t work for the evga motherboard though.
Some Asus boards (like strix) heatsink is in the way for the heatpipes so you have to modify the board to fit the heatsink. Noctua posted a page on their site about it.
Ah yea I did hear about that. But I think eveey board Hero and higher is fine.

The plastic over the MB heatsinks are the issue. I will most likely just use EVGA's 360.

franktechnorust I'm seriously looking at the Maximus Z690, so if EVGA doesn't move within the next 10 days and get this board to the consumer like fast! I'll be throwing some serious cash somewhere else. I can see from other postings, I'm not alone! What gives EVGA?
Five days to go.... EVGA
I wouldn't hold your breath here. Jacob has been saying likely not until December.
I'm not, was just pointing out the 10 days from the comment which was 5 days ago. It would be hard to hold off buying a different ddr5 board if good ddr5 ram was purchasable. Hopefully, the ram doesn't come out until the end of Nov or the start of Dec which is hopefully around when the EVGA boards will be at least mentioned in some kind of news post.
Decent GSkill should be out by next week. Being able to buy some is a different story. I’m waiting on the ASUS Extreme myself, hopefully it ships as expected on Friday.
Decent Gskill, do you mean the 6800mhz or 7000mhz?

No I doubt that’ll happen be ready for awhile. I just saw a post from a Gskill rep in OCN that mention something would be out soon.

fragility_V1 Might want to put new DDR5 memory on that list too. The announced EVGA Z690 boards don't support DDR4.
I was wondering about that. Considering this recent article says there are major DDR5 supply issues mainly because of the power management chip, and that the procurement cycle for DDR5 is at least 35 weeks... so even if the Z690's come out next week, we're all going to have a hard time using the system without any memory sticks. Scalpers must be salivating over this news.

I wish! Some have mentioned Dec but no idea when in Dec. My problem currently is no DDR5 ram. So do you buy a ddr5 board not knowing when you can get ram or go for ddr4 3200 CL14? Decisions...

I hear ya. If you are anything like me, whatever decision you end up making will end up being clearly the wrong one right after you have committed. I decided to move to DDR5 without a bundle (CPU, Mobo, RAM) because I couldn't find the right combination. Now I have 3 cpus, 1 motherboard, and no DDR5.

newegg should be getting some G.skill S5 RAM on friday. i was able to secure some Z5 in a bundle on monday with a gigabyte aorus ultra.. its a crying shame that i have to choose gigabyte because they are the ONLY manufacturer that can manage to put more than 10 USB A ports on a motherboard.. (and there's only 1 from any other brand that has more than 9, and that one will halve the GPU pipe if you put a drive into the cpu M2 slot..) also, nowinstock . net has some stock checkers for DDR5

Same, then hopefully Z690 Classy in Dec and Ram at some point in Dec or early Jan. Holding out for the 6000 spec ram, hopefully, more places than just Newegg will start selling it.

Update: Sorry EVGA, I went with an MSI MPG z690 edge wifi ddr4 ($309) / G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) cl16 ($159). Maybe this time next year ddr5 ram is easier to get and has better timings. Can't let my stuff continue to be sitting wasting the manufacture's warranty. :( I will be purchasing a Z690 classy when DDR5 timings and availability have aligned.

Just got to be patient guys. Understand that so much of this is beyond EVGA's control, but it will be worth the wait. I'm sure they could have cut corners or used cheaper parts to get something out for 12900k launch day, but they aren't really known for that. Would be nice (however) to get some more teaser info on these boards to keep us gremlins from gnawing at your heals..

I think newegg is moving ddr5 to the shuffle. Honestly, if you look at this video from derbauer you can see the next wave of ddr5 is going to be a LOT better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5pXSBus8pQ I was originally going to try to get the gskill 6000 myself but I might just get whatever I can and know that in 3-6 months there will be FAR better RAM out there. Most of the current ddr5 isn't even quite as good as the best ddr4 which is just how these things go when switching. In a year or two there should be some stellar ram though.
