Aww man! I got a notification from newegg that the Gskill z5 ddr 5600s were back in stock but i was 4 hours too late! Grrrrr. But what's weird is on the gskill website they've already listed the 6000s but newegg doesnt even have those!!

I don't think they were actually in stock.  I got the notification as well and checked immediately.  Sold Out.

I think newegg is moving ddr5 to the shuffle.

Honestly, if you look at this video from derbauer you can see the next wave of ddr5 is going to be a LOT better.

I was originally going to try to get the gskill 6000 myself but I might just get whatever I can and know that in 3-6 months there will be FAR better RAM out there. Most of the current ddr5 isn't even quite as good as the best ddr4 which is just how these things go when switching. In a year or two there should be some stellar ram though.

Heck I want the 7000s that gskill apparently achieved several weeks ago!

I got lucky and (if you can say that) and got some G.Skill 5600 CL36 in a combo with an Aorus Master Z690. Not the best Motherboard or one I would choose, but it will have to do. Don't see an option to sell it for anywhere near retail.  I also earlier got a combo with OLOy DDR5 4800 and an asus Prime Z690-A. That one is going back to newegg.  I would love to get 32gb more g.skill 5600 but will be happy with what I have for now.

I can’t stop wondering….since reports indicate DDR5 shortages may exist until mid 2022, what good would it do EVGA to release DDR5 only boards now? Or could they either have DDR5 info we don’t know about or will they make a DDR4 variant?

Well, if they don't release this ASAP, they'll continue to have people say "I couldn't wait, I bought an XX brand mobo".

Good things come to those who wait :)

More mobos for everyone else I guess. But on a different note, DDR5 is so hard to get now I don't really need a mobo yet. But I would prefer to get that soon too so I can scour for the DDR5.

Again, I think them giving us any updates would be nice.

I wonder if the Evga Z690 will have the extra holes so that our 10th gen coolers can fit?

Any chance you still have the OLOy kit? I’m interested if you haven’t sent it back

I have started the return process and have it packed to give to UPS in the morning.  Its a combo that I have $600 in and the Asus Prime Z690-A. There is much better memory showing up in similar priced combo's at Newegg. I realize most don't have time to constantly check and respond to alerts from them fast enough. I just got lucky. Honestly I am still watching for a better combo as I am not that thrilled with the $500 Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Master. My processor just showed up today and the new Motherboard/Memory combo will be here Tuesday. I will just build it and be happy for now.

No worries. I had a similar combo and was able to return only the board and got a refund. But as with any Newegg combo ymmv. I’m mostly after Hynix for LN2 and I believe oloy is Hynix. I have the Apex + z5 6000 combo coming this week myself. I sold the last kit from the other combo to a friend for msrp so he can play with 12th gen. Lots of folks just waiting on ddr5 to get moving. Have fun! Lmk if you might change your mind and let the ddr5 kit go.

Well it that is true, I might try and return my Gigabyte Aorus Master when that combo arrives. I have a MSI Carbon I had ordered earlier I will probably use and if they won't accept half the return then I will just look for a local sale of the MB.

As we're definitely coming up on release, I'm hoping EVGA gives a heads up this time before just surprise dropping the boards to the store. It has been met with angry responses every time they've done that with the recent motherboards.

Yesterday I tried to return the Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Master from my newegg combo order. No dice, I even ask customer support and was told I could only return the combo.  Today I was lucky to grab a MSI Z690 Carbon and some G.Skill DDR5 6000 CL40.  I will return my motherboard and DDR5 5600 CL36.  I have the Carbon I bought from Amazon that I planned to use but will return it and just wait for this order to arrive.

Anything you're using to track stock of the combo kits?  Every time I get a notification from nowinstock, they are gone.  Just luck of the draw?

I was at my computer when the nowinstock web page notify started barking. I clicked my saved search in newegg. I had seen what they put up before they can be ordered and knew which I was after. From the time of the first alert, there were combos up for 15m or so. This is the third time I have ordered a combo and all three times it was from the alert sounded from the nowinstock webpage you enable at the top of the list.  I bet newegg is tired of me as I have canceled a few orders, returned an I9-12900k I7-12700k and one combo and soon to be a second combo later this week.

I've been relying on Telegram alerts.  Guess those are slower.  To the webpage!

If your near your PC, leave the alert on and volume up a bit.  They pull the combos down now and my search will show ddr4 combos.  I would check it off and on and earlier today I saw combos show up but not in stock. About an hour later they went live.  I think any relay you are relying on will take a few minutes. There are lots of people on the comment thread who ordered.

I was able to snag a Asus z690 hero with gskill 6000 c36 today. I originally ordered the asus apex board combo but saw the memory was the CL40 so cancelled that and was able to get the hero one after. It's shipped already (well label created, waiting on UPS now). I was originally planning to use one of these motherboards from evga but I think I might just use the hero. I think it's still very solid and it's what I have always used in the past. I have a 3090 kingpin so just wanted to pair it with kp mobo honestly. But I don't think i will tweak/overclock my 12900k enough for it to matter. I am doing a custom loop for the first time so that was why I was trying to kind of go all out but not sure I have it in me to mess with returning part of a combo, or continue to monitor nowinstock forever and/or fight with evga to get one of these.

Sucks that this is still going on but after the hassle of GPU's and now DDR5 I think I will just go with it and enjoy gaming instead of worrying about other bs.

Maybe I will upgrade to the KP when raptor lake comes out as I was planning to upgrade to that when it comes out probably. Usually I wait 2-3 years to upgrade systems but I have a bunch of friends who need new PC's so I could use that as an excuse.

Congrats on getting a combo you can live with.

When I got there, I had choices of all 4 motherboards. The Apex looks cool but for the savings of 300+ the carbon (my original choice) was the clear winner.  I Have/Had looked at the Hero but just don't need that much(expensive) board.  If the MSI Meg Unify was available I would have chosen it. Since its back ordered I felt the carbon would be the next best choice for me.

I will be considering upgrading to the EVGA board once its out and people give feedback.

Re: Introducing the EVGA Z690 Motherboards - The Ultimate Choice for PC Gaming 2021/12/08 13:40:18 (permalink)
Thanks to all for the Nowinstock tips.  I was able to grab a DDR5 combo with the G.Skill 6000 C36 kit.  Unfortunately, it was with a Z690 Strix, which I have no intention of keeping, so will just sell it at a losss.  But I have my RAM.  Now just need the Dark and can begin the teardown and rebuild.

With how much you are saving by getting the ram at a reasonable price the loss on the mobo is minor. I was originally going to sell the z690 hero I got with my 6000 cl36 gskill and get the kindpin board but I just don't think I will gain a whole lot by doing that. Plus selling stuff is a pain. Good work though, the ram is the tough part!

Well I hope we get a first shot to grab a EVGA Z690 board.  If they are available in the next week or so, I would love to build my first Alder Lake PC with one of their Motherboards.

Yes selling at a minor loss seems fine. Trying to sell on ebay where they take 15% off the top really makes it not worth it to me.  I have sent back two ddr5 ram combos where I could have sold the ram for way more than the combo. First I would feel bad doing that, second giving Ebay so much of the excess would annoy me. So much easier to send it back to NewEgg at no cost to me.
