I didn't see an elite deal for the DT. Was surprised. I bet they only offer the elite deals on occasion or for more popular cards like the Elite and SC2.

I9-12900K - MSI Z690 Carbon - EVGA RTX 3080 TI - G Skill 6000 40 40 - Samsung 980 Pro 2TB - Fractal Torrent.

So only maybe 5 min before the DT was out of stock. Not much time to get the email then follow up.

It was less than 2 min I think, I was like refresh, see post, click, add to cart, paused to try to figurer out what the D stands for, for about 30sec, make a quick question post to you all about came to finish card verification code and was told that it was pulled from my cart due to lack of stock... it was in my cart and was pulled out, probably by @tiberian32 himself! ;-)

No, and normally is less than 2 min from list time.

Glad I don't have to play the game anymore.

You came late, you must train your F5 finger for more endurance!

(I am so automatic now, the first time I tried to write this, when I came to "F5" I actually hit the F5 key and had to write it again)

I really don't know which I should get.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 GAMING
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING

Video editing with DaVinci Resolve 14 and HitFilm Pro, Some CGI, Composting. Audio recording/mixing and music creation, lots of photoshop and lightroom editing, some gaming and twitch streaming (all on the same box). and of course wasting time ;-)

Thoughts anyone?

You're not going to notice a peformance difference, they're too close.
Noise level should be close enough you can't tell either.

Duct taping Kitten to desk with super glue of right paw to F5 key, almost ready here! ;-)

 Kitten abuse!
*ducts tapes your finger to the F5 key then teaches kitten to use them needle claws to press the key THROUGH your finger*

THAT is how you use a kitten to press F keys!

 9-)

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.

Hi Mr Jacob, are there any news for the 1080 Ti Elite Gaming for the EU market instead?
I'm noticing that member from US are receiving the availability notification email at least, while Europe aren't receving none at all. Last time it was sent to me a notification email was on 22 of january and back then there were a bunch of cards available, but then again in a blink of an eye all of them became unavailable and the situation never changed from that moment.

Personally I doubt it they are US based. Considering how fast they are selling when they are put up doubt they will even manage to stock EU store until demand drops.

I can't believe how much cryptocurrency has affected everything. I was hoping to get a 1080 ti hybrid FTW3 until I saw the enormous price increase across all GPU manufacturers. I'm currently a deployed soldier, and I've been coming up with my dream build when I get home. Would you all suggest going to a retail store, or just wait until the cards come back into stock? Many thanks!

Depending on how long you are deployed prices may drop by the time you head home, when supply finally catches up with demand or possibility even next gen cards will be released. If you need one this moment and your preferred brand is EVGA for graphic cards you will get the best deal here I suppose, since EVGA is one of the few brands that directly sell their cards. Whereas other brands are only obtainable through 3rd party suppliers that are currently pushing the price even higher. That being said atm you need to be in this thread to catch Jacob posting up new stock, since they are selling within minutes.

Re: GTX 1080/TI stock ETA? 2018/02/03 07:26:17 (permalink)
It depends highly on when you are returning. In couple days, or couple months?

The price hike/demand for GPU's will not continue forever. Cryptocurrencies have limited quantity of coins, and the "difficulty" of acquiring those coins via calculations goes up exponentially as more are found which decreases profitability of GPU mining for the average person who owns only a few cards. In fact, the revenue/profitability is inversely related to the difficulty, so it will only go down as difficulty goes up.

Unless new cryptocurrencies are not only created but widely accepted, there is an upper limit to the demand for GPU's when most of the coins in the current cryptocurrencies are mined out or the difficulty is so high that coin value does not keep up with the difficulty/cost, it is not worth it for average miner to continue mining.

At that point average miner will likely sell off his hardware, and possibly his coins. Enough people do that, and there is (perhaps small) "drop" in the value of that currency

Remember that (approximately) 50% of each currency is owned by few individuals. The rest is spread out over everyone else. If that drop scares a few people with enough sized wallet to sell off, then more people do so, and the value of the coin drops, and you have a massive sell off and devaluation.

This is just one scenario, but the ultimate outcome will be the same until the currency finds "equilibrium" of value. Regardless of how it happens the cryptocurrency market is inherently unstable because so few people partake in it and the balance can be easily upset by actions of a few people.

And, as pointed out before in this thread, the actual percentage of GPU used for mining in market of total buyers of GPU's is not as high as people think, but is high enough that with a large sell off they can temporarily "flood" the market with inexpensive GPU's. Again this already happened before. So I believe it will be a drop in demand, rather than increased production. Manufacturer's probably know this, and why they will simply continue GPU production as normal to make less profit but be in better position once the crash happens.

SO. To answer your question, if you return in a few days to couple weeks, then maybe get on this forum and try to buy one. Suscribe to notifications from EVGA Jacob F twitter to be made aware when stock goes up. (You can also do DIY configurator or bundle package to buy GPU with other computer hardware as they do not sell out as fast and you get discount). But if you will not be back for months, than better wait and see where the market is.

Note: I did not mention ASIC miners, but suffice it to say, once dedicated hardware enters mining, difficulty goes up very quickly. They are "endgame" and are obsolete once the coin is mostly mined out, but push out GPU's before that.

Nope EU has been out of stock for weeks now. I'm guessing US currently has priority as it is a bigger market for them and they happen to be US based. All you can do is set the card you want to auto notify for when they get stock. Only the 1080ti copper kingpin has been in stock for weeks now tho for EU.

Hey everyone, long-time EVGA customer (first bought an 8800 way back in the day!).

Right now I'm trying to snag a 1080 ti because my 7950 finally bit the dust ( teaches me for going team red... sigh). Anyway, I'm having a super difficult time securing one from any vendor that isn't $500+ over MSRP. Crazy. I work full time and have other obligations so I'm entirely dependent on the auto-notify feature.

HOWEVER, I've added myself to auto-notify daily for the last two weeks and I have never received a single email. Checked my spam, not there either. Are you sure the auto-notify feature is working? reading through this thread it sounds like others have received emails, so this is really baffling to me.

Any help much appreciated!

I can't believe how much cryptocurrency has affected everything.

I can't believe it either - because the Nvidia shortage is NOT cryptocoin related this time around, as I've examined in detail in other threads.

The current AMD shortage however looks to be partly or even majorly Ethereum related - but AMD card prices haven't jumped enough to start affecting Nvidia pricing or availability, unlike last spring, and unless Ethereum pricing drops a TON that's not likely to change a lot 'till Ethereum goes Proof of Stake (currently estimated around the end of 2018 in the last roadmap I saw from the devs, but they've delayed it a FEW times already).

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.

Man, it's tough to get a new GPU right now.

Hoping to upgrade my 970 soon, but it's especially bad in Canada because one of our major retailers just went out of business, two have disabled online orders completely, and the other hardly sells any for near MSRP.

If it isnt related you crypto currency have they stated why there is a shortage? I also think it is dumb for retailers to sell them as s 10 pack online.

It's mainly due to gamers/speculators, and the factories ramping down production of Pascal and ramping up production of Volta or whatever the next gen is going to be called.  Don't forget we also have Chinese New Year coming up, and everything will be closed for a week.  Miners aren't paying $1300+ per GPU.  We aren't that stupid :).

Hey! So I think the auto-notify feature is hit or miss. The only time I've used it, I managed to get an email for the 1080ti FTW 3 as soon as it went in stock. That however didn't really help me since it sold out as soon as I clicked add to cart.
If you're not getting emails, it could be because stock is selling out so quickly that the auto-notify feature doesn't have a chance to send out an email, OR the products you're trying to get notified for haven't gone in stock yet.

Your best bet to getting a 1080ti today without paying $1300+ is to stalk this thread and wait for EVGA_Jacob to tell you when stock is going up (varies but usually around 5pm EST). Wait for your product number to be posted and buy like the wind! I managed to snag a 1080ti thankfully Monday and it arrived Friday. Good luck, and try not to rely on auto-notify features because you're racing the entire world at that point.

I don’t think near as many crypto miners are buying cards now.

Now it’s just investors who are trying to get rich buy buying up all stock.

Less and less people are spending their money on these highly overpriced cards.

This is going to lead to graphics cards leveling out again in regards to their pricing soon.

I can already see it starting to level out

Just for the fun of it, go to Newegg. Search for gtx 1080 and make the filter ONLY look st Newegg stuff. You have to scroll way down, but you can see that there prices are coming down.

Everyone is stockpiling their supply waiting for this craziness to end.

Also know that some prices on Newegg, PNY cards for example are extremely overpriced because PNY is charging those ridiculous prices.

Don’t believe me, go to PNY.com and shop their graphic cards and their ridiculous prices

In a word gddr5 and 5x. Production has been greatly reduced as gddr6 is in full swing for the Next Generation. These decisions were made months ago and I don't think anyone knew what was going to happen to the crypto Market in December. A lot of Supply that was probably expected to last longer sold pretty quick. Now The Craze is over but there is very little Supply. I was talking to a manager of a local Fry's a couple days ago and he told me flat-out they can't buy enough. It's not price gouging it's the fact that he's lucky to get a couple. I get the feeling he would have been much happier to sell to everyone that wanted a card at MSRP versus the situation he's in now
