I've tried everything in the precision x1 troubleshooting post and nothing works. Can't get the program to load when I log in. Start with OS, and apply previous settings are enabled. The event scheduler has an event for precision X1 that is supposed to start the program on log on but it seems something in the program is preventing that. Ive enabled all of the "start program as administrator" options in the properties window.

When are you going to fix your software EVGA?

Welcome to the Forum.
What Version of Windows 10 to include the Number Version like 1803/1809 or 1903?

@bcavnaugh I've done everything you listed, I've followed your other posts to the letter and nothing works. I'm using Windows 1903.

@Cool GTX Standalone version 4.8 Asus ROG Strix 370z, i7 8700K, EVGA 2080Ti Ftw3 Ultra, windows 10 pro ver. 1903, I don't know what background software you are talking about. I need cam and a corsair software iCUE for some rebindings to run and they run fine. I never had a problem until the 4.4 / 4.8 update. The only security program I have is windows defender. No I was not online.

Best Practice ---> Clean install of any software ---> you would shut down all other software - one way is a "clean boot" --> While installing the software

I am on an older Version - so I have not tested.  Other forums members have reported this issue

What version are you using? I will try the clean boot later. Honestly now CAM is acting up but that software has always been crap. Do you think other monitoring software could be whats interfering with it?

I'm Way way back @ X1 - version 2.9.0 ---> Folding 24 / 7 so I do not Stop or Update as long as it remains running strong ---> RTX Project

You may want to try one or two versions older - than the Newest one your using (2.9.0 was not the easiest to get set up)

No idea, you could test - set the other software to not load on boot

Check your Windows logs for reported issues

Yeah so I give up on 4.4 / 4.8 if anyone is reading this nothing outlined in the deep clean posts or the clean install helped but as soon as I rolled back to the 3.19 version I got back all functionality and will be staying with this version indefinately. I will test other versions as they come out but this has been a huge headache for me and will be influencing my rating for this card as its the only software I can use to get my three fans spinning at start up.

Got the same problem, seems to be a bug with the software. The autostart entry for the software ist broken and just shows "program" in the task manager. Hopefully they will fix that soon...

Was having the same issues with PX1 not starting with Windows and tried everything mentioned above (aside from going back to a 3.xx version) but nothing was working. Also, My memory and GPU and VRAM speeds were pegged with my OC and keeping my cards toasty at idle so I worked on this for some time and found a solution that will hopefully work for others as well.

I do not know which of the 2 settings actually fixed the issue since I disabled "Start with OS" and "Start Minimized", logged off, logged back on, started PX1 manually then enabled "Start with OS". Logged off and on, and PX1 was starting maximized and I figured I'd go for the gold and try to re-enable "Start Minimized". After that, all worked fine again! Been through multiple reboots, games, system settings, and PX1 is finally working properly again on version 4.8.0.

Hope this helps someone!

I encountered this silly issue as well.  The procedure described above worked!  I "signed out" rather than restarted, which seemed to work correctly for me (whereas restarting did not).

Awesome! I’m really just stoked that this worked for you as well. Yeah the reason that I decided to log off/sign out instead of restarting after making each change was because the problem with PX1 was the fact that it wasn’t starting with Windows. I really didn’t want to downgrade to a version that used to have other issues so I was determined to get this working properly. Hopefully others having this issue will be able to solve it using my solution until EVGA fixes PX1 (but who knows what will be broken in next version).

I just found your response as I am experiencing the same issue. Really dont like this software but apparently its what the Kingpin 2080 ti needs. I will follow up here when I get home and try this workaround.

If Precision X1 is not loading on boot the steps below should fix it without needing to reinstall.

Go to your AppData folder C:\Users\*Yourusername*\AppData
In Roaming > EVGA, delete the PX1 folder
Under Local > EVGA_Co,._Ltd and delete any folders that say PrecisionX_x64.exe_Url_

You should then be able to have it enabled at boot.

Did exactly as you posted. Didn't fix it

Did you try my method?

My “fix” worked for my main system, my 980ti mATX HTPC and at least 1 other forum member. Please give it a shot and report back!

Logging off and logging back in every time you turn on your computer, doesn't seem like a very good fix.

If you haven't already, try uninstalling PX1, and then install it into a new folder which is NOT in "Program Files", NOT in "Program Files (x86)", NOT in "Windows", NOT "ProgramData", and NOT in any other system folder.

There seems to be a user permission issue with PX1 if it is installed inside of system folders.

If you install PX1 into a new non-special folder such as C:/Precision/ , I think that your problem will go away (without even needing to use the log off/log back in "fix").

Please let me know.

I think you are misunderstanding the fix.  One only has to log off and on when changing the settings.  After they are set, the need to log off and on is no longer necessary.
The issue is with the program, and how it interacts with some system settings.  It is NOT a user error.

Until EVGA fixes the permissions, I’d actually just recommend that people try my fix. One reason is that I prefer not to have many folders in my root directory and believe that programs should be installed in PF or PF (x86) for uniformity and tidiness. As an aside, some people prefer to update within the PX1 software instead of going to the website and downloading the full install. I’m confident that this issue will not persist although it seems like new versions can sometimes break functionality that was actually working fine with older versions. Remember that PX1 is pretty new, EVGA is a small but dedicated company and this software should be “mostly functional” before the year’s end. Also, I’m really not a fan of Afterburner so it’s great to have an alternative.

I can't even access the software... It launches and then shuts down instantely, i just have the splash screen and nothing..

Tried Afterburner but seems my fan curve does not work. What can I do?

I use the steam version in the meantime but it's not really the perfect solution

This was the fix. Thank you.

Win 10 has new protection features some programs are blocked from running cause there marked as a threat cause of file access EVGA Precision x1 is one of the programs that gets blocked.
Follow these directions to unblock in win 10 as a threat.
Click windows key select settings. In the settings window select Update & Security. Then select the Windows Security. Then select Virus & Threat Protection. Click on Protection History. A list of stuff blocked will show up, if you click on each one it will do the UAC security pop up click yes then you will see the details of what was blocked. If precision was just used you should see it blocked it.
Just click on the Controlled folder access settings below the details. Then select Allow an app through Controlled folder access. UAC pops back up select yes and it adds it to the allowed list.

Then EVGA Precision should work every time.

Re: Precision X1 wont start with windows 10 Thursday, January 13, 2022 2:19 AM (permalink)
Necro'ing this thread because it is 2022 and I had this exact same issue with latest ver Precision X1 (could not get to start on boot w/ Windows 10, only via manual launch after OS booted and logged in).

The solution gold starred and posted by blinguskahn worked for me. No idea why the settings to start on OS boot + preference to start minimized or not don't save unless you do a logout/login without reboot while changing those settings, but like I said, it is now 2022 and this old solution still works, and the bug is still present in current ver.
