Setting up Precision X1 to Run as administrator, Post Driver 430.39

Step 1) Right Click on the PX1 Icon and Click on Properties

Step 2) Click on Advanced...

Step 3) Click the Box next to Run as administrator

Step 4) Click OK

Done.
This is the Same as Right Clicking on the PX1 Icon and Selecting Run as administrator *This Still Works.

Nice helpful Guide ... so this means  just clicking on "Run as Admin" has been disabled by  Nvidia or MS ?

Which Version of Win 10 is that  - 1809 ?

Is this only required under Win 10 1809 ?

What are the advantages of running as Admin / why should it be run as Admin ?

As far as the Windows 10 Versions I have only tested on 1803, 1809, and 1903 with 430.39 and tested with the HF Version 430.53.
What we can no longer set the Power Target Setting, if you only open PX1 the normal way and set the Power Target to the Max it resets back to 100.
If you are running Driver 425.31 OR Older you do not need to do this. You can use the process above for just about any Shortcut in any version of Windows.

This has not changed with the newer drivers and works as before.

I wanted to test and some different computers and this driver + the HF Driver and it is the same from what I tested.
I am just going to run Driver 425.31 until EVGA changes how PX1 works or NVIDIA changes their new Security Added Features.
This might be the cause. Link from Void65231
    https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-development-tools-solutions-ERR_NVGPUCTRPERM-permission-issue-performance-counters
From Power Target cannot be changed after updating to NVidia driver 430.39

I couldn't quite gather the reasoning for needing admin privileges in PX1, did you say the power target won't save without administrator privileges?

I tried with version 0.3.17 removing the check from "run as administrator", but it still brings up the UAC prompt for approval to run. Guess they hard coded this due to the power setting not saving otherwise?

I have that turned Low or off so not a bother being that is normal for Windows anyway.

UAC is just doing it's job. Caused not by PX1 but the New NVIDIA Drivers that are now being released.
Normal users cannot make changes to hardware so to do so UAC is used to allow the change, set the UAC to the Lowest setting and you are done.

It works for me just fine on my EVGA RTX Graphics Cards.
After EACH Change are you Clicking Apply then Save on P0?
Is this an EVGA Graphics Card you are having issues with?

This is really great to see your explanation about this topic. if you are interested in installing the driver of any graphics card then at first you need to know how to run the driver as administrator. The process you are explaining this is really well. If you any kind of solution related to the router then you can go through  for the best solution.

    Welcome to the Forum
I just right click on the Driver File and Select Run as administrator simple enough.
You only do this one time per Driver install and have no need to setup the Driver Install like with running an Application.
