Hello,

since updating to the latest Geforce driver 430.39, it is not possible for me anymore to change the power target of my 2080 XC using Precision X1 0.3.15.0.
I can move the slider in PX1 and press Apply, but GPU-Z shows the power target is not changed. I'm undervolting my card by using optimized VF curve generated by OC scanner and applying 75% power target. This way I get clocks which are comparable to stock, but with 25% less power consumption and heat.

It worked before updating to 430.39. Since then, I apply 75% but GPU-Z is still showing 100% and the card is using full 100% power target during games. VF curve seems to be still applied because now the card runs on much higher clocks compared to stock.
If I close PX1 completely and open it again, it still shows the optimized VF curve (meaning it WAS applied) but power target is reset to 100% (meaning it WAS NOT applied).

Any suggestions or can anybody confirm this bug?

If you go back to a older driver everything works properly again? Do you have this issue with msi afterburner too?

Remove PX1 and clean on all the Folders Delete them that is and restart the computer and install PX1

This is what I do between Drivers when PX1 stops working. You can skip the NVIDIA Driver and DDU Stuff.
Uninstall LED Sync then PX1 uninstall all NVIDIA Software and Drivers.
Run DDU in Safe Mode and then install only the Graphics Driver and PhysX Driver.
Do not install PX1 at this time. The Default Color is Blue.

bcavnaugh, wouldn't it be great if someone or EVGA built a BAT file to clean those folders?

I kind of have a file that does this.
    I run this After I uninstall PX1
ClearPX1.cmd (Right Click on file and Run as administrator)
    C:
    CD C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local
    rmdir "C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\EVGA_Co.,_Ltd\" /S /Q
    CD C:\Program Files\EVGA\
    rmdir "C:\Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1\" /S /Q
    CD "C:\Program Files (x86)"
    rmdir "C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\" /S /Q
    CD \
    C:
    Del C:\Windows\PrecisionX_x64.INI  /Q
    CD \
    Exit

    > Del C:\Windows\PrecisionX_x64.INI  /Q may not be needed after PXOC.
I do not install LED Sync so I removed from my clean up file.

Old School DOS Command. Not a Commend to play with without know what it can do.
Folders and Files removed and deleted are NOT moved to the "Recycle Bin" and are GONE for Good.
    RMDIR (or RD) [/Q] [drive:]path RD [/Q] [drive:]path
/S      Removes all directories and files in the specified directory in addition to the directory itself. Used to remove a directory tree.
/Q      Quiet mode, do not ask if ok to remove a directory tree with /S

rmdir "C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\EVGA_Co.,_Ltd\" /S /Q (Removes the Folder EVGA_Co.,_Ltd and any Folders or Files in it)
rmdir "C:\Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1\" /S /Q  (Removes the Folder Precision X1 and any Folders or Files in it)
rmdir "C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\" /S /Q (Removes the Folder EVGA and any Folders or Files in it)

If you have other EVGA Software installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\ then you may need to Edit the command to delete the Folder inside of C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\
    Like
    C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\MyCLC
    C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\MyOther
rmdir "C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\WinRing0" /S /Q (Removes the Folder WinRing0 and any Folders or Files in it)
rmdir "C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\LED Sync" /S /Q (Removes the Folder LED Sync and any Folders or Files in it)
But will leave C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\MyCLC and C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\MyOther alone or unchanged.

    Working this ATM
    C:\Program Files\EVGA>rmdir "C:\Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1\" /S /Q
    C:\Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1\WinRing0\WinRing0x64.sys - Access is denied.
Deleted WinRing0 from the Registry Restart then rerun my clean up file.
I had to delete the file C:\Program Files\EVGA\Precision X1\WinRing0\WinRing0x64.sys and then rerun my clean up file.

I tried using MSI Afterburner and there it is working. Maybe I will just stick to that - for my purpose it doesn't really matter which tool I'm using.

Make sure you don’t have Nvidia profile inspector installed as it can cause issues between driver updates.

If you Right Click on EVGA Precision X1 and Run as administrator the Power Target Settings are Saved.

Wonder if requiring administrator access has something to do with this?

Yeah basically Nvidia added security measures due to a side channel attack that could compromise people’s data.

430.39 and PX1 3.12 my power target kept resetting at 100 percent. Installed 3.16 and power setting will not set above 125. All worked well with 3.12 and 419.17.

At least with 3.16 the mV display under the Memory Clock has been removed, for those of us that don't have that sensor to report.

2080 Ti XC Black - should be able to set 135% on Power Target.

Or save people the headache if they wish to run the program on startup do this.

    1. Go to the precision x1 icon on the desktop.
    2. Right click and choose properties from the drop down menu.
    3. Go to the compatibility tab.
    4. Click run as administrator and apply.

Maybe, but some will forget they have done this and in the next update the cycle starts once more.

Yep like me, installed today the new version and was wondering why the hell I couldn't change the power target^^

Also something weird happend, installed the new version, applied my working previous settings on oc, then the whole pc began to freeze every few seconds. Had to do a hard reset, now everything works again without an issue.

If it keeps hard freezing your computer report it to Jacob or post it in the x1 version 3.1.6 thread because I’ve been having pc freezing issues caused by VF curve, but it could very well just be a perticular clock it hits caused by x1; more people experiencing similar issues the more likely it will get resolved.

It is the Driver 430.39 that is the Issue Not PX1.
PX1 0.3.16.0 is running Very well for me using the last Driver. 425.31
This is a Big Change in Drivers from NVIDIA that some are not seeing.

MSI Afterburner is always asking for Admin and triggering UAC when it's started, so that seems to be why it is not affected. For automatically applying the settings during Windows startup, it creates a task in Windows Task Scheduler to "run with highest privileges" on user log on. Maybe PX1 should just copy this behavior. ;)

    MSI Afterburner Sucks.
As does the politics to push EVGA Members to move from EVGA Precision X1 over to MSI.
We are never going to get a great tool of any kind if Members Keep this up, why should EVGA even bother anymore.
Why not just tell EVGA to Dump their software and sell the company to MSI and be done with.

Evga just needs to fix it. That is all I'm saying.

If that was true you then should be using PX1 to Help Fix and Improve PX1 and bash Not PX1 all time and not tell everyone to use MSI Afterburner.
That is all I Am Saying.
