I was almost tempted to buy the 3090 at the Scalping price, but it's just not worth it. I would rather wait. Unfortunately, having a limited supply is the reasons why there's so many scalpers out there.

I see no movement on the 3881 queues again. I'll plan on maybe seeing a card in January at this point.

Even if I get the 3080 im still going to be 1080p thats my monitors highest resolution. :) I do want to play at all high settings. but ya that times is ruff. are you in any other queue's?

If you can throw it, there is a 250 USD Phillips 4k monitor that is pretty decent. I got 2 of them and they are 60Hz , IPS , 4k.

Interesting, I'm going to do the same but using an import company.
Prices in Mexico are pure insanity, with the 3080's reaching 50,000 pesos (2,500 USD).

How do eVGA Bucks work exactly?  I just looked and apparently some kind folk have used my code & didn't even tell me they did, I have 124 pending O_o

Is that like, $124 I can spend on the site once it's credited?  If so that's awesome & I wish I knew who did it so I could thank them - apparently it as last month, because it says 0 earned this month - that would be neat if they get credited before my 3090 purchase email comes through, every little bit will help for that monster.

So you can't use someone else's associates code for a purchase if you're in the program? That seems kinda silly not allowing people to spread the love :-P I was gonna pick someone's randomly from the thread to get my "reward" when I purchase my 3090.

I've never done water cooling or a hybrid card before. When I looked at this product on the EVGA web site it had a link for the manual and the manual indicates the cards existing cooler needs removal. Does this card already have everything installed? Is the manual only instructions on how to add the kit to a non-hybrid card? Also I was wondering if you need a case designed for water cooling? Were do you normally mount the radiator/fans ?

Enewt! im trying to check out with your code but i get:
Your cart does not have any qualifying products for the Associate Code (VDN2319M4O569J4).

Use another associate's.  Not sure what the problem is unless you are an associate (you cannot both be an associate and use an associate's code) -- that is usually the problem.  Best of luck!  Go get your card!!!!  Congratulations!!!!

I had also tried your code earlier today and it did not work. Straight copy and paste. Tried another associate and there was no problem.

It is an "All in one" device or "AIO" meaning the tubes and radiator come attached, pump...everything you need except the space in your case to hang it.  Check on the size of the radiator to make sure that it will work in your case. No prior water knowledge needed.  Do some googling on the difference between AIOs and air cooling though...you should understand what you are getting yourself into.

The Hybrid kit is already preinstalled on the card, all you have to do is install the card itself & the radiator.

There's a little guide that comes with the card, make sure you mount the radiator where at least half of it (if it's on the front of your case) is above the card itself to avoid pump whine & other heat-related issues.  I recommend mounting the radiator on the top of your case if at all possible.  I also recommend, if you have the room, doing Push/Pull with some good static-pressure fans used as Push, and using the eVGA fans as Pull/exhaust.  That's how I had my 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid setup, and having Push/Pull instead of just the default Push lowered my load temps by 4-10C depending on the game/benchmark being used.  I imagine that gap will be similar or larger on the 3080/3090 models given they have a 240mm radiator instead of a 120mm like the previous 3 generations of hybrid cards.

Hybrid cards are a "plug in & forget it" solution, much like CPU AIOs, you don't have to worry about anything once it's installed, except IO would cleaning the radiator occasionally (if you want to) every few months to keep it from getting dust build up that could result in a loss of performance/increase in temperature, which would result in worse clocks - if you do, use an air-can or air-compressor, and make sure you're blowing air through it the OPPOSITE way from how you have the fan blowing through it, so you're blowing anything stuck on the "intake" side back OUT and not further IN to the fins.

As Enewt said, please do be sure it & the radiator will FIT in your case before you buy it, it is not a small card, and the radiator is comparable in size to a CPU AIO of the 240mm variety.

Good luck, hopefully we both get our cards before Christmas.

I'm assuming it's a 1 "buck" equals 1 store "dollar" ratio right?  If so, holy moly 128 would be a nice discount off my 3090 when the time comes.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2020/12/10 13:54:26 (permalink)
I wasn't originally planning on upgrading to a 30 series, but my 980 SC is finally starting to show its age - getting an occasional random black screen / device disconnect / device reconnect - so I decided it's time to upgrade to a 3080 before the 980 dies on me, since my gaming PC is also my work PC. Unfortunately, that means I didn't get in the queue until 11/29, so reading this thread and realizing how long it might be until I can get a new card has been a bit demoralizing (especially when I saw that I missed a Best Buy restock on Tuesday morning).

It's also a bit disheartening to see retailers I used to consider reputable taking advantage of the availability situation. Newegg marks the cards up $10 - $20 over MSRP and, on top of that, requires you to buy a combo when they do get cards in stock, and B&H has the ASUS TUF 3080 OC listed for $50 over MSRP.

Right now, my hopes are resting on the 3080 FTW3 Gaming at Best Buy which shows "Coming Soon" rather than "Out of Stock." Micro Center is 40 min. away, so I'm assuming that any stock they might get will already be gone by the time I can get there. I know Newegg announces drops on their twitter feed, but I'm not going to buy parts I don't need just to get my hands on a card, and I refuse to reward predatory retail practices. I just have to hope my 980 holds on until I can get my hands on a 3080.

Any tips other than check Best Buy diligently and pray?

Honestly, you're probably better off in the que. I'd avoid the scalpers at all costs if you don't mind the wait. No point in feeding their greed IMO.

If I had a better idea, I wouldn't still be on this wall.

I think you have the right idea...hunt with your F5 finger and keep the queue as a backstop.

Best of luck!

Good luck, hopefully we both get our cards before Christmas.

I would be interested in the hybrid if it had the old 120mm rad.  Sadly, my current case just doesn't have room for a 240mm rad without modding it.  However, if your case supports it, then going for the hybrid makes a LOT of sense and it's really no more difficult to install than a regular air cooled card.  Just need to mount the radiator which certainly isn't rocket science.

Damn, I am 37 seconds behind you for the 3090 ftw hybrid.

That sounds like you will be in the next drop (maybe even tomorrow as I will guarantee you that there are at least a few stragglers from today's drop).

Ah I have discovered the "activity/pending" page - Apparently they won't be available til January - still cool though!  I can always use it for something on down the road, or if I don't order my card til January, free discount. lol
